  1. yes no motor noise on the f2 primes or 18-55mm or 16-55mm or 55-200mm. There may well be others I haven't tried...

Seems like it could be quite a camera but wonder who here would still get it if it was indeed $6k?
  3. All sounds about right, a shame as not interested in an 8 bit camera and I'm not willing to pay the premium for a stills camera with a RAW feature I don't really want when I can get a proper video camera used for about the same price. Is a bit like the C200 conundrum for me, 8 bit is not enough, RAW too much for my needs, just give me a decent 10 bit. Will stick with the Fuji XT3
  4. Thanks for all the feedback - really hope this is something Fuji can fix in firmware. Am still loving the XT3 and it looks amazing with my old Canon fd lenses, just would love to be able to use them handheld without always having to add mass to the camera to reduce shake. It's a want rather than a need though, not a great time to be thinking of new camera investment Have seen the warping thing on ultra wide lenses even with the GH5 which has great IBIS, I wonder how wide you have to go before it starts appearing on the xt4? IBIS is not so important on really wide lenses
  5. Unfortunately the only mode I found RS acceptable on the eos-r was full frame HD but the image was closer to the soft Canon mush of their old dslrs than it was to the lovely detailed C100. Used C100s are still a great camera if you don't need 4k
  6. When I tried the Eos-r the higher quality HD had bad RS like the cropped 4k did. Very disappointing. As you say hopefully the days of crap Canon hybrids is over
  7. I think I'd make a lot more use of RAW if it did it in 4k though. Haven't been keeping up, will the R6 be more tailored to 4k?
  8. What about price? It's interesting the P4k seems to be the camera mentioned a few times here being replaced by the R5 - depending on the price you can get 3 maybe 4 of the P4k to one R5. They're not in the same price bracket not even close. Same with P6K. I'm not sure when R5 Is due out but I'd imagine it's going to be a long time before film and video production gets back to any kind of normal. Are people really going to be in a position to invest in a camera so much more expensive than what they're currently using? Or is it going to be a time for consolidation and just trying to get by on what you have?
  9. Blimey I come back a few days later and you are still arguing with yourself pretty much - not being funny but you seem to have gone down a rabbit hole and killed whatever interest I had in this thread. Anyway sorry to interrupt, as you were...
  10. Colour is subjective (I actually prefer Panasonic colour science since EVA, S1 etc), the rest of these you're just guessing, IBIS and DR of the S1, SH1 are going to be hard to beat. Hope you're right as progress benefits all of us but your Canon love in and trashing of the BM Pocket is a little OTT
  11. That would work for me. Be interesting to see what the Sony fx6 offers
  12. This would be a great move and I think create a whole new buzz about the C200, at £5800 new it is still too high for a camera without a middle codec and I would prefer the Panasonic EVA - but 10 bit would make a return to Canon more interesting for me. I have no interest in 8k of the R5 but would spend that kind of money on a used proper cine/video camera
  13. Sounds great, I'd imagine it's going to be stupidly expensive. Hope not
  14. I'm hoping the Sony announcement is for the fx6. That camera intrigues me more, and if it keeps the colour science and AF from the fx9 and prices itself under £5k it could be a winner
  15. And I wouldn't say Canon is surpassing Sony just yet - from what I've seen the Sony FX9 ($11k) seems to have at least as good DR as the Canon 500mk2 if not better - it seems to have more headroom in highlight handling

    Panasonic GH6

No sorry, still no idea what your point is or the relevance to anything I said. Too many unrelated tangents, but yes probably best if you just continue to be you and I'll just try to be me...

    Panasonic GH6

Yes eleison I'm not really sure what point you are actually making and to be honest lost interest a long time ago. You say technology waits for no man etc... and as anonim has pointed out, the cutting edge comes to m43 a long time before it does full frame - we're still waiting for that to catch up with much of what the gh5 has been offering for years. And you also say let's wait for the unicorn that is the A7s3 and lets not go chasing the latest and greatest. Am confused... Anyway always excited to see where a possible gh6 could push what's possible for mirrorless video, Panasonic are always trying to provide the best they can as opposed to Sony's recent regurgitation of 8 bit overheating jello vision
  19. The AF pulsing seems to have been fixed on the XT3, have never used auto iso though, always got exposure manually not sure I'd trust any camera for that
  20. A C100 mk2 would be great but would love it to have 10 bit rather than just the 8 bit that is in the C200. Have been spoilt maybe by the GH5 and XT3 and would feel 8 bit is a backward step in 2020. It would allow for better use of the different c-logs
  21. Great value indeed, apart from the 30 minute limit and the strange headphone scenario I think I will eventually replace my XT3 with one of these (once they start turning up used anyway). The IBIS will hopefully be improved with firmware updates, seemed a little twitchy compared to the GH5 I've used. I imagine the XT4 is going to need a new cage as it seems slightly bigger than its predecessor - been looking at smallrig cage for the XT3 but may just hold off if I can't use it on the XT4
  22. This sounds like it will be a great camera, and that finally Canon are not holding back on video specs after so many years of utter crap with their dslr and mirrorless offerings. I don't care about 8k and would rather they go the same way as Fuji XT3 and get a great 4k image from 6k sensor My major concern is price - the last time they put decent video in a small form - the 1DC, they then priced it way out of reach of us mortals and failed to support it properly. So it became a non event until years later when prices plummeted. I hope they don't pull the same stunt here. What price are people willing to pay if most of these rumoured specs are true? That many people bought the severely crippled EOS-r at the price it is makes me think they can charge whatever and people will still buy it because it's a Canon. Again I really hope they've changed and that this camera sets the new bar for both video quality and value for money
