Jn- reacted to Andrew Reid in 4K RAW 120fps for £3k?! Say hello to the second-hand Canon C500
The F35 image is indeed special, but it'd be interesting to compare the uncompressed RGB 12bit of the C500 to it, since it's a very similar format to the RGB the F35 puts out, in fact on paper it appears to be superior.
I wish Sony had gone for longer making CCDs. One of the first Sony cameras I bought was an Alpha A350 stills cam back in 2008. Still stands up today, easily. Guess why... It has a Super 35mm sized (well, APS-C) CCD sensor! You can get it on eBay for 150 quid now. It has in-body stabilisation and the ergonomics aren't bad either, but of course no video. It would be interesting to use that as a way to compare modern CMOS cameras to a 'classic' 14MP CCD Super 35mm chip, especially in terms of colour.
The only issue I have with the F35 is that it is mega heavy, pretty big, rather power hungry and would exclude the use of my EF lenses. A PL mount is lovely, and would be amazing with the Cookes, but C500 + Odyssey is about as big as I'm willing to go at the moment for most stuff.
It does have slow-mo, the 1080/120p is pretty good.
    ----
By the way, there's an interesting white paper on the C500's 12bit RGB 2K here -
    http://www.filmanddigitaltimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Canon-Larry_Thorpe_C500-vs-C300.pdf
It sounds like a massive leap up from the internal 8bit 1080p.
The sensor reads out 4 2048 x 1080 streams which don't need de-bayering. The 4th is a 'super green' which has zero aliasing and extended dynamic range.
This is made possible by the pixel design of the 4K sensor.
I never rated the C300's image.
C500 should be a different matter.
Well worth £3k. Well worth £5k even. Let's hope they come down even more.

Actually the Terra has ignored me.
I'd love to try one out in Berlin at some point, I can't buy absolutely everything just to review it.

All cameras are good these days.  If you're still a spec sheet nerd, good for you.  The pros I know will use anything that ultimately does the job.  Even cheap "plasticy" cameras with lower build quality.  Hey, sometimes you don't need a camera to last 5-10 years.  Honestly, with the way the market moves, why would you?  The things are practically disposable now.
1" sensor?  Big deal.  Shallow DOF has become wildly overrated and overused.
This camera was on my radar as I do a lot of doc work.  I have no doubt it would look fine the way I shoot.  Ultimately, I decided to go with the GX85 for numerous other reasons, (the fact that I have loads of M43 glass and I need two of 'em)
The other main reason being that the GX85 looks like a simple stills camera and doesn't intimidate anyone or call attention to itself by looking like a professional piece of gear.  That's a huge "feature" for what I need to do.  That need I take very seriously.  And in my mind it offers a HUGE advantage over "pro" gear.  How would you put that on a spec sheet??
Quite simply, if the XC10 solves an important production problem, no doubt I'd buy it.  Certainly others are doing so.

I am afraid, most of us here, has never had an XC10 in their hand.
But we can still exchange views and ideas, that’s the forum about.
I don’t buy a camera, like my wife chooses a car.
-Look honey, I want this one, it has such a nice color :-)
If a camera’s specifications are not good enough, why should I use time to test it???
For me the XC10 is a monster, clear mistake from product management.
    Not good for photography.
No RAW. It could be a firmware update but Canon would for sure not do it.
    The lens is so-so
    Weak continuous shooting
    No IR flash-sync
    No autofocus lamp
Few manual adjustments, everything is in menus
    No B shutter

Not good enough for professional video work.
    The lens is so-so…
There is a On/Off ND-filter, but no control over it.
    There is no powerzoom.
    No XLR
    Strange solution for viewfinder
The bitrate (305 Mbs) is more a sign of bad codec

Not interesting for the amateurs either.
Too expensive, especially with the memory cards.
Too much data to work with
Probably very high loss of value.
    Too big and strange ergonomics
Too weak for the competition :-)
I doubt, the video file of the XC10 is better than the GH4 with the 14-140 kit lens, and the Panasonic is way better for photography. And, don't forget to check the price.
That is my view on it :-)

One's really got to be shortsighted to not appreciate the performance you're getting from such a camera at such a price point.
Honestly, it's kind of ridiculous how good and cheap this is.
In my mind Its a value on par with the BMPCC that was sold @$500 awhile back.

Was there any previous case where they actually added something after they had finalized and presented the camera?
I can see In Stock here as well: http://www.ukdigital.co.uk/panasonic-lumix-gx80-body-black.html . According local Cyberport they are expected here on the mainland for tomorrow. Another CEU store claims delivery in 1-2 days, meaning it's probably In Stock with the distributor. Seems Austrian prices for the kit undercut some of the German market ones (like Amazon and Saturn) by 100 EUR. Same happened with the LX100 during the launch period and then rose back up again, might want to be in for one after all. I'm so weak, lol, it's just that I have so many non-IS lenses you know, that it's kinda tempty to already jump on it and not wait out for the GH5, which perhaps will be shipping around Christmas or something (seems so lightyears away right now). I'd kinda rather be outside shooting away with that little thing in summer.

It's funny, you guys represent The Camera Store, and have an in-built bias, let alone reason to maintain a good relationship with Sony...

... So the fact you are one of my most trusted reviewers speaks volumes to the hard work you put into your content, and by constantly being fair and consumer minded with your reviews, you have, despite those in-built percieved bias', always "been on my side" when it comes to making a purchase - the respect you get in the community is well earned, and long lasting because I have experienced enough products you have reviewed to know that you have always been absolutely upfront with a products shortcomings. Also, the fact you go through a products shortcomings without pouring vinegar on the product, which may work well for others who don't need that specific feature or can work around it makes you guys an absolute pleasure to watch!

Jn- reacted to John 67 in Time to step up - Panasonic GH5 must go 6K Super 35mm to compete in 2016
After  having read article again I still do not see any reason why Panasonic would complicate a successful product with such a proposal ...it would be folly to make such a change for what is a very niche sector (essentially a small group of people who can not afford to buy the camera that does everything they want) the capabilities that are stated are available now in much higher end cameras  and I put it to you that 90% of users of gh4 would'nt need these features ...those that would ...are likely to be in a group who would bolt on  thousands £'s worth of Cooke panchro's instead of these new lens products proposed anyway ...the gh4 is available for £900 it was not (in my humble opinion ) intended to compete in the high-end tv or cinema ,the fact that it can and does is a testament to its capability as it stands you can take almost any legacy lens or high end cinema lens and go make a film, a documentary, a wollace and grommit style animation ,anamorphic epic, 4K internal ,4K photo, journalism and the list goes on what Sony does  or does not is bollocks because it's twice the price,it's full frame glass costs more ,it does'nt have the feature set ,menus are hap hazard ,the discussion about the 6300 is irrelevant ,how is it viable to compare a brand new product with a two year old one, Panasonic 4K at that price point, changed the market...everyone reacted ,that means Panasonic are and have been leading ,only now does Sony do 4K internally( at twice the price)....even today you want to beat it you have to buy another pansonic product g7,lx100,
the people making these proposals think nothing of then spending £1200 on a shogun,or an odyssey ,thousands on glass, gimbal's etc ,when at the heart is a£900 camera ,the fact that it's there at the heart seems to carry no credit,go buy a red dragon or an arri alexa ...build that up see what that costs (house money). All it has to do is minor improvements, the question is will they be big enough for existing users to warrant the upgrade, and there are a lot of us ...their sole motivation should be that

It's consistent with the A7 line offering. I think many people had unrealistic expectations, this is a 1000$ consumer camera, they won't go and use it to kill off their premium line with it.
I don't think this is the camera they expect people to buy the G Master lenses for. 1000$ body, 2400$ 24-70 2.8?

You're right Mattias.... Always something to cry about.
If it turns out to be true that the new cam has 4K/60p with an image quality potentially quite alot better than the 1DC, then transcoding the codec is a tiny price to pay, if that codec choice is what allows 4K/60p to be possible.
Dual pixel AF for video... That is great... Can't wait to see footage

    The human eye has:

About 120 million photo receptors that can detect light and dark and around 6-7 million that provide color and all in about the space of a micro 4/3 lens circle.
The human eye can adapt to detect a luma range of around 46 f-stops

So between pixel and sensor sizes, image processing chips, and sensor read-out speeds, cameras have plenty of room to get better even at micro 4/3 sizes (in my opinion).

Jn- reacted to Sekhar in Sony A7R II Review - Part 1 - Summoning the devil
The sad part is nobody seems to be truly objective anymore, you can spin things any way you want. Canon (especially the hallowed, beyond-any-reproach-of-any-kind 1Dc) can have any number of flaws, but you can always take refuge with two words: "color science" (whatever that is). And be sure to ignore what you can do in post, it don't matter. Kind of like the $8K Leica M Monochrom buyer ignoring all objective comparisons and calling it worth the price because it's just "magical" (whatever that is).
And it's not just with cameras. Last night we had a Republican debates with 10 candidates, want to know who the winner was? Any of them, depends on who you ask. Heck, we don't know anything for sure anymore, from if there is a multiverse to if OJ was guilty to if a7RII or NX1 can render color as well as 1Dc. Reminds me of what Jack Nicholsen tells Diane Keaton in Something's Gotta Give: "I've never lied to you. I've always told you some version of the truth."
