  1. I completely agree. But guess what, I was reaching out to Panasonic ambassadors and developers in the past about this issue. They we're either uninformed and said there is no additional sharpening and NR, though the evidence thanks to strong halos in high contrast areas, harshness and sometimes even ghosting is there - or they were laughing at me "everyone loves how our images look"... Btw. the 6K mode suffers from artifacts thanks to the rather weak H265 implementation, but yh, basically no sharpening artifacts but banding. lol
  2. That's what I think as well. Not cool... Especially since you can soon get the Pocket 4K for half the price of the GH5s where this issue is simply non-existent.
  3. I won't jump ships if Panasonic would at least offer an option to disable both (at least in V-log and HLG). Tired of all the filtering and diffusion I have to do to hide the artifacts and thinness caused by it. If they'll do I would probably just invest into the new Atomos Ninja V instead.
  4. No in camera NR and Sharpening. That's what I want from Panasonic, and they're actually able to do that (EVA-1). Why is this so hard?
  5. This would be a slap in every other manufacturers face if it's true.
  6. I wonder if it's the IMX294 by Sony (GH5s) With 10MP HDR Modes Dual Native ISO Full MFT lol
  7. This Sounds Great! Mft sensor 13 Stops 4k60fps at 10 bit External RAW 5 inch screen THAT PRICE TAG
  8. Why not EVA1 with such a recorder? Finally a good and not too big 5" screen with 4k60fps 10 bit recording capabilities.
  9. Let's wait and see. I think Blackmagic will once again mail the cinematic look. Such a shame that Panasonic doesn't offer a NR and sharpening OFF setting. Ruining maybe isn't the right word, but GH5(s) footage needs lots of post processing and filtering to get rid of the video look. Blackmagic footage doesn't.

    NAB 2018

Only HDMI, "for DSLR & Mirrorless Cameras" but ProRes RAW? Whatever that means. GH5(s)? Sony? 5" HDR 1000 Nits is amazing as well. And how would - if at all - 4K RAW work from higher resolution sensor? Maybe the Pixel count on the A7SIII will stay the same and it will still slightly crop. The GH5s would work beautifully as well with its 10MP sensor. The GH5 though. Idk...
  11. The Pixel pitch for a 4k super 16mm camera seems to be pretty comparable to the one in the GH5 (NON-S). Let's see what they will be able to squeeze out of it.
  12. Everyday struggle with the GH5, not fixed in the GH5s either, actually worse. Nothing wrong with Panasonic EVA-1 tough beside the 8 bit limitation in 4k60p
  13. Since my rant in the Blackmagic Facebook group about using the Sony IMX294 sensor used in the GH5s and a strong Lowpass filter may be a good thing in terms of Dynamic Range, Lowlight, battery etc. and still benefitting BM color science, broke out into a war I'm trying here again. What would you guys think? - Virtually no FPN - better battery life - Almost 14 stops of DR - great low light, ISO6400 should be fine without internal Temporal NR - low rolling shutter - none of the issues the GH5s is plagued with (strong overprocessing precisely and harsh red channel clipping)
  14. Maybe a bandwidth issue? Try DCI 4K 50P in 10 bit. At least UHD 60p 10 Bit should work.
  15. There were comparisons where the GH5s not only showed lower noise levels, but more structure and color in highlights in comparison to its predecessor. But these were all high ISO. Maybe they're identical at Base ISO?
  16. Looks good! Can't wait to try it out.
  17. Even a Phantom 4 Pro would do way better in a shot like that... Artifacts everywhere.
  18. The difference isn't dramatic. HLG uses limited range
  19. April 1st is in roughly two weeks as well?
  20. Looks a bit like old 16mm footage with all that grain. Like it! Color separation indeed is great using V-log. With HLG it's kinda lacking...
  21. They will upload the real 4K version tomorrow. The one on YouTube is 720p in 4K wrapper. Already confirmed.
  22. How could anyone judge detail from that 720p stream wrapped in 4K? o.O
  23. The 6K mode on the GH5 is actually less sharp (sharpened) than 4k. It looks smoother but shows more detail if that makes sense.
  24. The cleanest 8 bit Log footage I've seen so far comes from Canon (C200 e.g), comes close to 10 Bit V-Log on the GH5 which is amazing.
