Not that this is a democracy or anything but I think we should let this drama play out... it’s only a day.
With that being said, now the kid won’t be available for 3 days to answer any questions... a little too convenient.
And with that being said... I don’t think the kid is lying. I think he found something but it’s a fudge more than it is true Raw recording.

I don't think they've been able to work out how to get higher resolutions than 720 vertical pixels to work properly when using the full aps-c sensor, due to the way the EOS M is designed, although they were trying find a way around that and they started having some success... but the video files so far resulted in a lot of corrupt frames. Here's the discussion about it: https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=16608.0
Perhaps MLVFS might be able to convert the files and read AWB properly? I believe it should now be able to work with lossless mlv files, however I don't know where to get the latest version of the program! With MLV App on Windows I can convert the MLVs to cdng without any issues (with the option to export uncompressed or lossless). Maybe try a previous build of the program to see if it works?

That's not the cause of my confusion -- I don't even have Magic Lantern installed, so I am not looking at the menus.  Indeed, if all the crops were simply labeled relative to full frame, there would be  a lot less confusion in regard to crop sizes.

I think that a lot of the confusion with Magic Lantern comes from three things:
The official documentation is not current and a lot of features are left out; The only mention of some features is scattered over a zillion forum posts, so information on is difficult to find; Since all of the features are released as they appear, the features weren't named together, all at once, so the naming has been somewhat arbitrary, reactive and haphazard.  Consequently, it is difficult to tell from the feature's name what that feature does (especially relative to other similar features).

Yes.  I have this one.  There are other brands that have "dumb" EF-to-EF-M focal reducers -- just search on Ebay.

    Thanks for the info!

In addition to @BTM_Pix's suggestion, you could use an EOSM AC adaptor and connect the dummy EOSM battery to a Sony NP battery plate.  Then you could just use readily available and inexpensive Sony NP batteries (which come in various sizes/capacities), with the added option to use wall power with your EOSM.

Actually, this Canon camera still has far to go until it can "one-up" this Forza camera from 2014.

The Canon model shoots 120mp at 9.4fps, while the 2014 Forza unit can shoot 200mp at 60fps.

Canon just one-upped everyone with a 120mp sensor that shoots video. If 8k is 30-something mp, how many k's is a 120mp image? The math blows my mind.

If Canon does make a full frame hybrid camera, I hope it uses an EF-M mount -- unlike the EF mount on the C700 FF.

The FF camera could utilize an EF-M-to-EF adapter with a shape and reinforcements that follow the contour of the camera body.  By designing the adapter in this way, clueless EF lens users would never realize that they were actually mounting their lenses to an adapter.

This configuration would not only allow fully functional use of EF lenses, but one would also be able to mount a zillion other lenses, focal reducers, tilt-shift adapters, etc.

By the way, the EF-M mount should work with a full frame sensor, as the EF-M throat diameter is 47mm while the required image circle for full frame is 43.3mm.

For the very first time I considered down voting someone with the above Sanveer post. The full post is full of s#$% and lies. and he got credit for nothing at all, and he asked the people that tried to be humble and bring some serenity here to be banned!
I am seriously surprised that so many sane people that I follow here, suddenly transformed to something else, and not very good.
I could never believe that I could see something like this on a dead camera's post, on something so insignificant.

It's an unfortunate fact of life that those who do the heavy lifting often do not get the proper credit.  Either some opportunist takes the credit or others simply cannot discern the facts (or have short memories).

For the sake of the rest of us, please keep up the excellent work!

Not that it matters but there are numerous NX-1s for sale from Europe on eBay. Including from Poland and Italy.

If anyone does want one or a lens for one, this video game shop in Germany seems to have bought a job lot.
And no, its nowhere near Frankfurt.

    Just plain 2.2lbs (1kg) and a small 1.1lbs (0.5kg) behind it.
    Total counterweight: 3.3lbs (1.5kg)

    Sure!
Sony a6300, Samyang / Rokinon 12/2, JJC LCH-A6 LCD Hood, Peak Design Anchor Links, Zomei Variable ND2-400 77mm
Gini Rig Pro-10, a 3D printed part to attach the counterweights (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2761632) and 2 standard weights (2.2lbs + 1.1lbs aka 1kg + 0.5kg), which can be bought in a sports departament store and act as a counterweight.

All rods, clamps, handles, etc. are the part of the above mentioned Gini Rig, no additional parts (besides the counterweight system) were added to it.

Bringing the topic up and summarizing my experiences after renting a shoulder rig for a while.
    My setup looked like this:

(Reds were matched by a pure accident, though it looks really nice)

The rig helped me to get rid of all micro shakes and a lot of rolling shutter, as well.
Definitely smoothes pans / tilts, etc.

I'd need some practice to keep my framing while walking, but it manages to make 'bumps' less apparent.

    All in all:
I'm content with the results and think this thing matches my style of shooting.

Can provide some footage to all interested.

Thank you all for participating in this thread and sharing your experiences, observations and opinions.
    Really appreciate it!

This definitely seems interesting but I am a little skeptical. I’m confused because I’m unsure if this is an in camera hack where you’ve figured out how to write motion or cdng files in the NX1 (or an equivalent like MLV) or if this requires something in post to complete the process? If it is internal I can only imagine you may have harnessed the Raw timelapse function or something? I don’t know... interesting either way and I look forward to the results. Any way it would work on an NX500?

I agree, if you are looking at S16, it is better to go with a BMPCC. You probably can get a used one for just a bit more than an eventually new eos-m speed booster.

If it really works then I bet that he solved it that way:
I think he basically wrote some app (NX1 is running on Linux-like OS Tizen) that is 'snapping screenshots' (maybe directly to DNG) from life view feed in video mode (he mentioned AF and IS works) - so it probably the similar thing as external recorders do.
So image is already resized to 4K and minim. aperture is 1/30s.  That is why he mentioned same behaviour in low-light  (I think it is caused by way how NX1 resamples image to 4K). I would not expect REAL 6,5K 14bit CR2 RAWs but 'only' un-compressed 4K 10bit DNGs. I think it is only one possibility because otherwise would be bitrate huge as already mentioned here.
