  1. @Mattias Burling...I think judging by the footage I've seen you produce on the LS300 and owning both GH2s and GH4s, the GH5 will be a no-brainer for you...the GH4 is the only cam I pre-ordered, and actually thought of pre-order on the Terra 6K, but its for a specific project, and if the funding for that comes through, I might bite the bullet and go for the Varicam LT...will still get the GH5 as a companion camera...I've yet to sell any of my GH camera's...IMO Panny just makes camera that work and I need that reliability on a set...
  2. 4 hours ago, fuzzynormal said: Aren't all cameras that capture motion picture images capable of this? Yes...you're right of course....
  3. Even if IBIS caused heating problems or a time limit on shooting with it on, shoot on a monopod or tripod with it OFF if you need takes over an hour!...this is not rocket science...this however may be a camera that will cost less (I'm guessing here) than $2500 but even if not, capable of shooting a feature film...looking at the Photokina mockup, the grip looks much deeper than the GH4 though the height looks about the same...maybe for extra battery power to accomidate IBIS and internal 10bit...Panasonic is consistenly ahead of the curve with every GH release...you either love or hate their cameras...the only camera other than a Panasonic I've considered buying is a Kinemax/ now Terra 6K...and this time Panny looks to be hitting this out of the ballpark...the truth is Fanboys will be Fanboys and hate this camera too, but no other company that I would consider, builds cameras that just work....consistently and reliably...and I know I'm a Panny Fanboy! LOL...So those who love Panasonic cameras, will probably be happier than ever with this one, and for all others, the great news is YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY THEM!!!...so I'm not even sure why this camera is already causing so much doubt and controversy across all forums....we are still probably 6 months away from learning what all the features will be WTF...
  4. There's a company that makes something called a DJ cage...I have one for a GH2 but bought a much tighter cage by a company called Viewfactor and that's where the ergonomics on the GH4 shines...1 quickmenu button above the trackpad gives you access to all exposure settings via the front and rear wheels, allowing for blind touch control once you familiarize yourself with them...one wheel for different settings and another to adjust values within the accessed setting..could not be simpler...ideally suited for a cage, and reading about even SDI connectors failing on small hd monitors on the monitor side, clamping your HDMI connector is always a must IMHO therefore a cage or at least a tripod mount HDMI clamp is a must if you're going to use a monitor/viewfinder with any of these cams...I think the DJ cage was around $249...if I can find a link I'll PM it to you Mattias
  5. Agreed...but if the GH5 gets IBIS and internal 10bit 4:2:2...and a little mass added, it will make for some ideal shoulder mount work...I like the look of the GX85 better than a gimble...not a fan of the floating look of a gimble...where as the Terra6k on rails or sticks or crane will be beautiful when rock solid...lot of image there...just a matter of my personal taste though, and I have to say these are 2 cameras that have me excited for the first time in a while...2 very exciting releases and looking at the grades that DBounce pushed, this is an amazing cam!
  6. My next camera...been waiting for this for a while...and a GH5 as B cam and handheld...unlike most interest I see online though, I want the 6K...
  7. Pelican all the way....they will last you a lifetime and if you buy replacement foam inserts you can tailor them to your shooting/traveling needs...like lenses they will last a lifetime and the roll on airline overhead bin compliant ones are great...the only thing stronger are the aluminum cases that go in the plane's belly, but then you risk theft and large temperature changes on your gear...unless of course you're lugging around an Alexa or F35 and even then you can do a lot with Pelican...I think the 1510's are compliant and go for around $149 including pluck foam
  8. ES also tried to persuade another forum member during a drone discussion to ship him a drone to Egypt...these cons or attempted cons have been going on for a while.. Below I'll paste that request made by ES to Jonsey Jones " On May 6, 2016 at 4:57 AM, Ebrahim Saadawi said: Where are you located JOnsey? I've been seriously searching here for any DJI supplier new or used and there's none. Zero. I was going with the inspure plus x5r kit just for the sexiness of a raw gh4 footage. I can transfer the fee through anu channel prior to the purchasr (we've been long enough here to trust one another) plus all the shipping and effort costs. This way we can start with a cheap phantom to really master flyinh and still do some projects with it and then have it as a fiture B aerial camera when we get an inspire, or what ever comes up then! I strongly advice going that way, the phantom 4k can produce amazingbresults that most of youtube clients won't mind a bit, so getting that instinctive ability to drive the thing and the muscle memory on different situationd is absolutely essential before we go bigger, right? I'm in San Diego, CA. I'd probably buy from BH though. I too am thinking Phantom, but 3 or 4 I don't know. What's the big advantage of the 4? Is it worth double the price? Yes. I will buy and ship for you. PM me and we can arrange the details. " As is obvious...the con has been going on for a while...I posted this during the ES feeding frenzy, when I don't think anyone was really reading anyone else's posts. I have to agree most strongly with Bioscope's post on that thread which was WTF with all this forgive and forget (I paraphrase here)...this guy needs to be in jail IMHO...he is a thief and whereas he may have been handled with kid gloves before, in the effort to get the money back for the guys who were scammed, it's now a case of here we go again! 9. He did post on RedUser...link to it in DVXUser...so he's still working the sympathy angle...his post linked to someone on Red forum who has some medical problems...I don't visit the Red forum, but apparently his post was taken down there...possibly time for law enforcement?...he will not stop...was simply mining for sympathy on Red forum...as he was doing here after getting caught....the moment he noticed some members warming to him here, he really went to work on the poor kid angle
  10. Kinemax...find their examples on Vimeo...amazing image!
  11. Updating firmware with the Inspire has been a challenge...following their tutorials have proved to be better than suggestions on forums, but for the future, the updates are very sequence specific...never had to update the camera on the Inspire 1, but had to update the Inspire as when they sent me a new one, it would not sync with the controller...then a new controller and hours later...finally in the air!...I get a signal now that an update is required, but I don't install it...the firmware with POI and Waypoint routes etc. was what I was waiting for...it flies like a dream now...can't speak for the X5R though...
  12. Hi Oliver...just a couple of questions for when you have the time...are you going to attempt to rig this so it's your primary camera...I had thoughts like that originally, but I think I'm leaning towards the Kinemax now as my "Land Camera"...anyway, as I've been flying the Inspire for over a year now, don't hesitate to message me if you are curious about any flight observations (did crash my 1st one due to a software error I believe, but I think DJI saw it partially as pilot error...charged me $220 for a boom replacement, and then shipped me a new Inspire??)...Cheers, Fritz

  13. @PannySVHS ...I second the recommendation on the Small Rig Stuff....where I've actually changed my mind is on the baseplate/rails...I own a very nice Lanparte infinitely adjustable baseplate with rails and a shoulder pad...problem is, hard to balance as my set up ranges anywhere from 16-20 lbs...just ordered the Zacuto Universal Baseplate with included shoulder pad...allows you to always keep the lens mount over or near your shoulder for balance, and also places your EVF in an optimum position if you use one, and no counterweight needed for handheld...I'm seriously considering the KineMax next, so that's where it will land up living probably...so after spending around 350 on the Lanparte here goes 574 for the Zacuto, but now I'll never buy another baseplate again...while you're considering your rig....
  14. Gb/s...had my caps locked...as stated before...my memory of what I read could be completely wrong
  15. See footage thats tests rolling shutter when you have a chance...I already own an Inspire 1 and I'm contemplating the X5 for the file sizes and the ability to shoot on SD cards so I would be really curious about the file sizes you get out of the X5R...I think I read somewhere 1.5GB/S...probably I'm making a mistake... https://fstoppers.com/aerial/dji-zenmuse-x5-makes-inspire-1-worth-buying-91492 Included a link of night footage with X5...can't even imagine what you'll get out of the X5R....enjoy!! I will add a brief side note as you learn to fly the Inspire...it's a joy to fly, but don't always trust that the software will work flawlessly in GPS mode...for instance, when you release all the controls the aircraft is supposed to stop...it does..most of the time...but when flying close to anything, keep control of the Inspire...also keep your eye on the landing gear...once it did not lower as I came in for a landing...luckily I was sitting down on grass and turned the lens up and landed softly...on the hard with an expensive cam I would have brought it to shoulder height and grabbed the aircraft by hand from underneath...the rotors are well above the fuselage so entirely doable...2 little observations I've had, but be prepared to enjoy yourself...this is a pleasure to fly!!
  16. Well the problem with being caught in one lie is...when does one ever recognize the truth afterwards....members keep referring to him as the 19 year old kid....we have no idea how old he is...to me it looks like someone extremely calculating...observing every post on this thread...including Ed's as to how he obtained the confession (FWIW kudos to Ed for his efforts on his own time to get some refund for the guys scammed in this)...then coming back with "I was scammed" again, after some members reacted in sympathy..."I have no money pay back"...after some members suggested a group contribution to pay back the scammed..."from my allowance"...to imply a teenager, though would have to be from a wealthy family in Egypt to receive one...the truth is we have no idea who we're dealing with here and in the absence of that, warning tags to any of his posts would be a good idea...and ultimately Andrew and law enforcement getting involved...someone committed a crime, and its not up to the members commenting on what that money meant to the ones who were scammed...it was their loss...and one way or another, it is important that this person does not scam more people and it's damaging to this forum if someone gets a reference of gear on Google directing them to EOSHD with his name, and no warning tag...as he may list gear on other forums we don't know about...and scam those people because they saw comments by him on EOSHD...so whether ES exists...in whatever guise...he knows he has a limited time to sell something again...somewhere, and it's a very "convenient" time now, as Andrew is away on a shoot in a remote location...
  17. Only thing I disagree with in the last few pages, is I would say ES was a very effective liar...I just think he never anticipated the forums response to the reported scam, and it got away on him, but up to 4 days ago he was still a very respected member on this forum...its of course human nature to prefer to trust people you get to know in a medium like EOSHD...
  18. Hello Geof. How can I calculate shipping? I am afraid the shipping would be as high as 100% of my asked price thus I'd be selling it for free, or else I'd have to increase the price 50-100% on you to get my asked payment. Which wouldn't be very good for you. (If shipping is low enough, it'll cost you as I mentioned 300$ total, shipping on me. Plus you certainly qualify for the EOSHD 50$ discount so comes to 250$ total, A steal. If you shipping cost reproaches 100% (250$), I wouldn't be able to sell it for lower than 250$ + 125$ (50%) = 375$ (Still a good deal for you for the RG version with witness marks but a bad deal for be as that way I get 50% of my asked price, effectively selling it for 125$, but that's hopefully not the case) Shipping through UPS seems to be the only available option in Egypt and Western Union Money Exchange seems to be the only way to receive my payment here. So we'll have to use these. Thanks Ebrahim Saadawi +201144173159 ebrahimsaadawi@gmail.com Cairo, mansoura, Egypt " "It IS a hit since I recently paid 599$ + 150$ shipping for it. But it has no locally customer, zero, and I have zero need for it. Another member offered 350$ to compensate for the 100$ shipping cost. So will go through with that. If it it's not sold i'll let you know. thanks geoff. " Ed posted this quote a couple of hrs ago...note the price he paid for it, though Ebrahim (SNR?) did a review on this with the disclaimer that SLRMagic sent it to him to review. The problem with lies is that you have to have an excellent memory and someone is lying here...very few people ever have a problem with remembering the truth... Maybe Zach and Ebrahim are the same person!...hmmm...talk about obfuscation!...the plot thickens
  19. Hi Aaron I posted on page 7 about the review...SLR Magic sent him one to review...maybe one of the indications that this was'nt Ebrahim at all, as the seller claimed they paid 599 for it and were losing money selling at 250...also posted weird "will you buy me a drone and ship it to me from the US" Ebrahim post....unnoticed in the feeding frenzy, but indications to me seem to point to the fact, that this is not the same person...the language completely differs...Ebrahim's knowledge of cameras and technical aspects of filming run too deep for a scam artist to be having arguments/discussions with other members about a highly technical subject...most importantly, if you're really curious, read his drone buying request to Jonesy Jones...definately not written by Ebrahim, so whatever this is, it started a while back...
  20. I also remember Ebrahim doing a review of the Rangefinder with a disclaimer if memory serves correctly that SLRMagic shipped it to him for a review...The 'seller" in the add claimed a loss in the sale at $250, as he had paid $599 or 699 (don't remember the exact amount) for the item...does not seem like the real Ebrahim would have gone there in an add.
  21. Below is a quote I copied from a drone inquiry made by Jonesy Jones. Thought it a curious request, and the writing and grammar inconsistent with Ebrahim's usually quite excellent English...anyway...remembered finding the post odd and the time, and then never gave it more attention till reading this thread...perhaps Jonesy can comment on what transpired after the below posted quote...it can be seen under the thread "Drones. Which one?" Its on the 2nd page of forum page 15...no idea whether it has anything to do with this mess... Where are you located JOnsey? 22. Hi Rich

I'm contemplating the KineMax for a feature I'm in the process of getting funded. I was considering getting their KineMount with the Nikon KineEnhancer...I own 3 Nikon AF-S F2.8 ED zooms...the 17-35, 28-70 and 80-200...all with aperture rings. I also own the Sigma F1.8 18-35 and 2 Tokinas...all in Nikon mount.  I know you built a custom speed booster for Rob, and my questions are (1) Was it a Nikon mount (2) Any thoughts on the optical quality of their Enhancer and (3) If not a Nikon mount for Rob, would you be interested in manufacturing a Nikon Booster for my KineMount. As a lot of the cheap boosters  degrade the image, and in my view the image on the KineMax is what I'm looking for at an incredible price, I want to make sure there are no weak links in the chain, or else I will opt for the non optic adapter.

    thanks in advance,

    Fritz

  23. Like the color profiles a lot...images are beautiful, though it could also largely be a function of production design/ steam punk wardrobe...Is it shot at 30fps and then configured on a 24fps timeline?...motion looks weird to me too...perhaps one of the most important aspects for video on a camera...maybe on purpose in this case to go with the "theme" of the shoot?
  24. Thanks!....much appreciate the feedback...could I trouble you with dimensions for the black carrying case it comes with when you have a moment?....thanks again!
