  2. It does 100 / 120 FPS (depending if you have a PAL or NTSC camera) but only in High Speed Video Mode. Probably the same as on the LX7, no manual controls...
  3. @Andrew: I think there will be two cameras, PAL / NTSC, non switchable. So either 30 fps or 25 fps in 4K, depending on where you buy it. Also I don't see any notion of 120 fps mode?   6. eBay with a 'buy it now' price or a minimum bid? Keep in mind that the value of memory cards drops fast. Really fast. So check the new price, or the price of equivalent (speed) cards first... I wouldn't count on a shop giving you nearly what you should be able to get in a private sale.

Expected half of july (the LX camera's have had a tight 2 year renewal schedule). It will be a contender for the RX100 III and probably have a bigger sensor than the 1/1.7-inch chip in the LX7. Not sure which size. New rumor: 4K video and $899 price tag. I'd say - Why not? smartphones are able to shoot 4K... so a high end compact shouldn't have trouble with it. Sony's 1 inch sensor also does 4K in the AX100. Awesomesauce! Nice B-cam for the GH4 ;)
  9. Can you make a video showing the issue? Definitely doesn't sound normal. There will be a difference in transmission and vignetting might be different for each focal length so there will be difference in corner brightness. But the way yoj describe it sounds different...

    gh4 sensor spots

    Even at f/11 you are already beyond the diffraction limit of the GH4 sensor (and you have a f/22 DOF equivalent at f/11). I'd avoid going higher than f/8. The DOF is already very big by then and you'll be loosing sharpness due to diffraction.
  11. Which shots? I tried figuring out the focal lengths as well but thought there wasn't anything wide like 24mm in it. Could be wrong though...
  12. The D4S didn't get much better video. D800s most likely has the same sensor (tweaked a bit) as the D800 and the same problems.
  13. Disagree. No point and shoot has same capabilities image quality wise as (prosumer) dslrs. Simply physics: sensor size.
  14. But the competitors cameras have features (4K, high bitrates, no moire, slow motion, 60p...) like Canon's high end equipment, or features that Canon's high end equipment doesn't even have... so it is relevant.
  15. Probably not. f/1.4 with speedbooster is almost f/1.0 equivalent. On a bright sunny day you can use the Sunny f/16 rule as guidance: F16, 1/100 @ ISO 100 gives 'correct' exposure. You probably want to shoot at 1/50 and the lowest ISO on the GH4 is 200, so you have to add another two stops. Without an ND filter, you are shooting at F32, 1/50 @ ISO 200... So: 32 - 22 - 16 - 11 - 8 - 5.6 - 4 - 2.8 - 2.0 - 1.4 - 1.0....... To get the right exposure at f/1.0 equivalent in bright sunlight you need a 10 stops ND filter... With an overcast sky you're still going to need about 8 stops.
  16. I guess it's probably easier to not bother with the manual at all to do this. I found it very straight forward. Turn the top left dial into the interval position (twist the dial all the way to the right). Turn the mode dial into M or A mode (or whatever you want for your pictures). Open the menu (press menu/set) - Time Lapse / Animation is already highlighted now. Press menu/set again. Mode should be on Time Lapse Shot (it probably is). Go down to Shooting interval, choose your settings. Press Set on the touch screen. Choose Start Time in the menu. Set start time of choice or press 'now'... /Edit: I guess you still had your camera in the movie mode, in that case you won't find the timelapse function in the menu.

Just a few quick shots, so not great (had a hard time focusing on the 1200D - the dof is big so everything looks in focus on the screen, but it's hard to see where the critical focus really is) Edited image (10mm f/6.3 I think), shot with Canon 1200D (raw): Full res sample pictures here (in the slide show, use the options menu to download them full res).

  19. The canon 10-18 is perfect for you. It's not bad at all, definitely not at f/8. It's dirt cheap, tiny, light weight and it has IS! Difference between 10 and 12mm is noticeable. It's 20% after all.
  20. Nice! Often a bit too contrasty for my taste, but that should be easy to tweak. What is the equivalent focal length with the adapter you used?
  21. Where did you get that idea? It's not true. It improves sharpness at wider (bigger you mean?) apertures in the center. With the clones maybe corner performance is a little worse, but not a lot and with the original speed booster that didn't look like an issue at all to me. Actually there are lenses with built in speed booster (focal recuder), or at least some sort. It's said that the Olympus 4/3 14-35mm f/2.0 works with focal reducer like elements and also the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 does. Two lenses with AMAZING image quality...
  22. The whole EF-S mount is just bullshit anyway... I don't see any advantages. Third party manufacturers manage to make aps-c lenses with EF mount just fine (and they fit on fullframe camera's withouth problems), so why can't Canon do this? This was funny back in the days... when the 300D was announced with the EF-S 18-55mm kit lens. Before that time, it was really hard (or expensive) to find a moderate wide angle for your Canon aps-c dslr (D30, D60, 10D, etc) and the 18-55mm EF-S lenses didnt fit on those cameras. There was a solution though: just chop a bit off the back of the EF-S 18-55mm and it would work fine on those camera's: http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/tutorials/efs-10d.html

  24. Same effect. Just scale down the footage to 25% after dropping it on your 1080p timeline. Also this gives you the bonus of being able to re-frame/zoom while editing.
  25. How did you get that source file? Something looking that horrible won't turn into something usable of course. It doesn't look like a proper 8 bit file, 8 bit isn't that bad. Looks heavily processed, either in post or with a combination of extreme settings in camera.
