  1. Even new the D800 dropped a lot. Here it has been going for less than €2100, so it's not surprising it goes for €1600 second hand. Then Nikon introduced the D810, and decided only the pro dealers can sell it... the price has been a very steady €3299 (msrp) since the introduction.
  2. Nice rant. You don't know anything about me. Looks more like you are the one convinced of your own truth. What you are stating - the camera being available in shops since a month - is simply impossible. Proof or it didn't happen.
  3. It only shoots 4K at 15 fps. The Relonch doesn't have 41 MP. According to dpreview it has a 1 megapixelsensor. Not correct. They don't know what sensor it will get, it's still a very early prototype. What you see is a design concept. The working prototype is more like a existing camera taped to an iPhone.
  4. You are making this up. The D750 was announced on sept 12, images and final specs of the camera leaked out only a few days before. If it was out for a month already it would be all over the internet. Unless you are talking about people who have signed NDA's and receiving pre production cameras before the announcement for initial testing. But that list isn't very long and as far as I know dpreview, Imaging Resource and the likes aren't porn producers.
  5. Sigma's new strategy (started in 2012), aiming at high end quality for competitive prices, has worked out really well. According to Sigma the market for interchangeable lenses shrunk by something like 23% last year but Sigma managed to sell 15% more.
  6. Of course you are right, but you shouldn't be surprised that a Canon rep won't admit the competition is better (with some features). Of course they evade it by saying: but hey, we have it! (in a much more expensive product). The dpreview interview with the big chief is really funny too. Someone above here already quoted from it. I liked this one: Haha :) Interviews with big companies like this are a bit pointless. They are never going to give proper answers to tough questions. It's not about the questions not being asked. Especially the reps, product managers etc. They don't have anything to say about the future, line ups or whatever as long as it's not an official statement of the company. Of course the guys interviewed by Andrew could have agreed with a lot of his statements (maybe they actually do agree), but if they'd say it in public they probably wouldn't have this job much longer. The only meaningful answers are the ones you get from the top guys like Masaya Maeda, and as you can see in the dpreview interview, they are also mostly talking shit. 'Canon sensor is the best', right. 'Canon is and has been very serious in the mirrorless market' - uhuh! But actually he also says something about future products:
  7. I agree, but TN really is a dealbreaker imo. The Dell screen you really have to use with dpi scaling. Works fine on Mac OS. Not very good on Windows. For viewing 4K content it'll be still great though. The 4K options are still a bit limited right now. Personally I'm interested in 21:9. The LG 34UM95 is a great screen (34" @ 3440x1440, IPS, around €900,-), Ive used it for a while. You might think 34" is huge and you end up with a low pixel pitch, but that's not really the case. Can't compare it to 16:9 monitors. In height the screen is not even as big as a 27", it's just wide! Which is absolutely great to work with....
  8. Dell Ultrasharp UP2414Q. Starting around €650. Even more Retina with 4K @ 24"
  9. Exactly... the GH4 will get other aspect ratio's in 4K Photo Mode. I doubt if this is going to be useful for video at all... Probably it means no sound anyway... this GH4 firmware doesn't look like it will add anything interesting for video.
  10. That's correct. It only does 15 fps at 4K. Sorry about the size. But I think this shouldn't be overlooked... It does 1080p30. And shoots raw stills.
  11. Does PL make sense? Aren't most people going to adapt it to something else anyway? I can't imagine the native PL mount camera users are going to be very interested in SLR Magic.
  12. Nice work Andrew! I would prefer the forum to be a bit less wide. The width is no issue for my screen and better for visuals of course, but readability isn't as good imo. (I don't like dark websites, but I'll get used to it :P)
  13. Beter body, better AF, fraster framerates. Thats not marketing bullshit, but very welcomed by photographers. I agree that it probably won't be appealing for the video crowd, but that doesn't mean it's just 'bullshit'. I think this actually will be a nice balanced camera (speed - resolution) for photography. It should do 8 fps though (even if only with a grip), if it sticks to 6.5 fps like the D610 that'd be a shame. The Df, that is a D610 with extra marketing bullshit applied.
  14. Read it twice... but overlooked it. My bad! Still, I'm not convinced Nikon will pull it off. It would make sense anno 2014, but I'll be very surprised if the D750 has 4K.
  15. 4K is not even mentioned in the rumors...
  16. Very smart. It's the same concept as Instagram hyperlapse indeed. It shouldn't be expensive at all, the hardware is really cheap. The only downside over a gimbal is framing of course. You're going to have to shoot a bit wider than intended and crop afterwards. For 4K to 1080p this could be really cool. I'm not interested in the current stabilizers because of the price (and the bulk) But this little box could be a really cool addition for handheld action shots. I wonder how it will work in more 'normal' shots, like a substitute for in lens IS. Love the small for factor. Very stealthy!
  17. Nothing wrong with speculation and opinion, but it will trigger the opinion of others. Some people will disagree with you - those are most likely the ones that will reply in a discussion like this. That shouldn't be a problem either. The internet is a hard place.
  18. I don't think it's a fact that Nikon/Canon are to blame. The fact is that the total market is shrinking. DSLR sales are down, that's a fact too, but mirrorless doesn't take over the market share that is lost in the DSLR segment. Mirrorless hardly shows any growth. IMO, the only conclusion you can make is that the camera markt is shrinking. The rest is opinion (which is fine).
  19. Already introduced at IFA so I don't count that as Photokina news ;) Although they'll show/present it again for sure.
  20. My bet: nothing spectacular on the 4K front. Samsung: Maybe the NX1 will have 4K, but probably it will be crippled or suck in some way. It's Samsung after all. Panasonic: Fixed lens 4/3 sensor LX100 is coming, probably with 4K like the FZ1000 (hopefully with more framerates, 24 fps at least). GM5 as GM1 successor, might have 4K but with lesser specs than GH4. Also maybe a nice GH4 firmware update. No GH5 for sure. Canon 7D Mark II / Nikon D750: no 4K for sure Olympus: E-M1 firmware update. No 4K for sure (or it's something like 4K internal timelapse) Sony: Just some new lenses. If the FS700 II is true then we'll probably see it at IBC. Fujifilm: doesn't care about video, X100T is coming Leica: More Limited Edition$ Hasselblad: Lunar Eclipse Super duper special edition Sony-rebranded camera Ricoh/Pentax: ? fullframe K-1 dslr finally? actually they could surprise in some way - 4k? very wild guess though. Could be nothing new at all. Most of the news will be out by the end of next week. I don't think the difference between the GH3 and GH4 at 1080p 50/60 is a big deal. There probably is a difference, but will you be able to tell in real life? (maybe rent/borrow one to try for yourself). You will notice the difference between 60 and 96 fps though. The quality at 96 fps might be lower, but I think it's more than decent for weddings and if everyone loves your 60 fps slomo, they'll love your 96 fps slomo more :)
  21. It seems so: Source: http://www.atomos.com/press-releases/
