  1. @Andrew Reid Nice to know : ) Curious to see your findings ;- )
  2. Minimalist to couple such a small factor approach + unique pocket design is a much welcome pair, specially to those like me who hate the typical Japanese camera interface based on a jolly senseless and not user-friendly but endless and useless menus designed by geeks and addressed to them rather than for enjoying the exposure triangle. Never enough or at least as they look when distraction comes up and raises/takes its wrong place. More than to be an ergonomics thing. On the other hand, those two motion picture recording modes? That couple? C'mon, just kid people because it's time for Carnival? : X Eccentric unmatchable 2:1 & 16:9 thingy as single two peas in a pod. Contributed for a smile this Saturday night : ) Hope for a decent firmware update. No exclusive niche product serves as excuse when we want it but cannot have it 'til then... Price is also prone to not be what this company means to those who like (and own) their glass like me (for more than 3 decades these days and still for more less than the classical bargain but invariably usual no-brainers of this same brand to come soon). I wonder what business strategy they have as target... Let alone the criticism read on S1R II now or is Panasonic becoming the Sigma of cameras instead? BTW, speaking of pocket stuff when we talk about cameras, any fanboyism (mine included even that one to pair the most sincere brand agnosticism, why not?) should be my pocket than only size/form factor because means my business & craft. - EAG
  3. You have no need for BBC approved cams -- even though Downing Street praise is always welcome to defeat aspiring dictators for real and those already established for many longer decades before worldwide, you only need that ;- )
  4. This is the kind of user report which immediately makes them to lose any $4K of my own, at least and to say the least no less... PS: Not a lemon? I simply HATE lack of consistency practically about everything in life : ) I don't mind about rebels like our webmaster hence I am here, but don't come to sell me other than that. One thing is standing corrected when pops up -- no perfection on Earth; the other one is random attitude on stuff, we're talking about much different things. Kills any crush.
  5. Got the news just now! And here I am in the same day my own father would turn 86 in this Feb 28 if he hadn't left us one year and eleven nights (ten days) ago... : ( What a sad end/tragedy for one of our legends, terrible news: https://www.tmz.com/2025/02/27/gene-hackman-family-suspects-carbon-monoxide-poisoning-death/ https://variety.com/2025/film/opinion/gene-hackman-tribute-best-movies-the-conversation-1236323080/ Impossible to think of the existence of cinema without his presence forever in our memories. From Gene Hackman's fav movie of his filmography (in his own daughter's words), also a curious metaphor of what life is:
  6. The obsessive RS focus looks like funnier to me when it is coming from same people who often also praise anamorphics... TBH I think that many instead are entitled to concomitantly attend some good stuff talk about... aesthetics. Really. - EAG Grand Prix of the Automobile Club of France, Course at Dieppe 1912 by Jacques Henri Lartigue (1894-1986) Here when he was 92 years old... PS: I wonder what this guy and autheur of one of my fav pics ever shot would think about such particular criticism (I mean this, not exactly whatever critical thinking is or when has place to be) on this and many other capture devices... nowadays. PM me and I send you my shipping address where you can send them to someone who really praises what a few seem to want to see replaced by what? Reality? Really? Is that the object or subject of your scope as shooters? *sigh* What a good education lacks about what "the expression of ideas and emotions through a physical medium" actually means.
  7. @MrSMW So I got you now! (into this online world we live all in... and where you're coming from ; ) you're an Asian EOSHD member in disguise to be a Franciú* shooter, after all! LOL ;- ) * Franc[ês] ("French" in Portuguese language) + Mons[iú] (abbrev. of "Monsieur")
  8. Price point IMHO is half part of their strength. And how reliable their product is, an extra reason why we never put them out of our radar. - EAG
  9. LOL Right : ) That's always the pinch of salt we must bring to the equation almost invariably all the time long, unfortunately. I guess not much to say other than that conclusion where you put your finger straight into the wound, once again... it is what it is, I'm afraid ;- )
  10. In fact, I've just bought one Mark II unit upgraded to work with AF @120fps and my FX30 for a bargain... Less than 70 bucks! :- )
  11. You're forgetting his models... ;- )
  12. Really? ; ) The answer, my friend, is blowing in your own, is blowing in your own post... LOL BTW, where have you been? You as a few others over here are truly missed : ) Ah and €2762 to $4K is the difference (huge gap for 50% more BTW) enough to make me pull the trigger, you know? People have a budget, mine in mid-2020 decade is up to $500 for mini sensor size cams, perhaps other than iPhone but the fact is that I haven't bought one yet ; ) $1000-$1500 for a workhorse camera and about $2500 for a premium device. Other than that, they don't have my money in their pocket/bank account. I bought a 12K Ursa Mini Pro like new for $3K, so you see... ;- )
  13. Great post man, my vote to stick it! :- ) At times, I even think to myself that a disclaimer urges to pop up to avoid armchair opinion makers out there...
  14. Yeah, laugh but do you know what the most reputable microwave oven is? ; ) I've found it today: https://www.businessinsider.com/guides/kitchen/panasonic-microwave-review My ultimate purchase ordered tonight is a Daewoo and is not a car... ;- )
  15. You mean strictly on and for 4K@120fps? Are they joining the party then? : D If so, I should either be quiet on the best of my fanboyism or Andrew is also right on his prediction ; ) For some reason I've found myself on Sony camp most recently... Plenty of irony to someone coming from 90s, really, but it is what it is, I'm afraid :- )
  16. TBH I think overheating performance (let alone DR + low light) and price under $2.9K (€2.762 from my supplier) without VAT (for professionals, not consumers) for such small form factor (under 800gr!) are both a must : ) How come not having an active cooling system along with? Or a cheap semiconductor route instead, as Andrew mentions? 60p up to 5.8K is the price to pay for? Other than that, imagerie coming out from such features combo like IBIS + their same hybrid AF, once more this time for a 2nd round and turn to follow the S5 II, look like pretty hard to resist and stellar to me... I'll probably see myself to bite : P Who not, sooner or later? : X https://petapixel.com/2025/02/25/panasonic-s1r-ii-first-look-the-ultimate-hybrid/ PS: Something I guess I like to see going with them... they usually try to bring some cherry to the top, most of their tradition is that, more than any other brand except Blackmagic IMO who tend not to leave any rabbit out of their hat for next time, hence my hat. Their newer is their best can certainly be a good motto. I am sick of a few minutes before overheating, when it's supposed a professional use even being a hybrid one, no excuse, it's not a smartphone! You can go and burn in hell, shame on them, Canon and Nikon... They play games on us... Makes little to no sense to my book to say the least :- )
  17. Significative to see all that written here by you @Andrew Reid Cameras design is something, the camera body a sort of an extension of a human brain, there's some singleness behind this unique object in fact < 3 Why ain't they all equal, isn't it? ; ) Like people, we can feel the differences sometimes between versions of same camera model, go figure all the rest you mention there... Even today, I've been discussing this with a brand representative : X BTW I am in love with my FX30... What such a grace, folks! :- )
  18. I'd go for both FX30 and Osmo Pocket 3... Just sayin' ; ) Other than that, P4K and Ace Pro 2 are a must no less : ) My current fav ones. Without mention some other speciality captures devices or... Blackmagic 6K FF... with this, you're set on the Aussie manufacturer camp : D works like a charm straight to those who always claim for stabilised stuff ;- )

    Vivo X200 Pro

Impressive where we've arrived for instantaneous photography:
  20. Under certain circumstances, there are obvious disparities like banding as for instance ; ) Skin tones e.g. is another case where distinct colour information makes a whole of a difference to separate waters and it is possible to see right there : ) Other than that, 8-bit can obviously perform the job :- )
  21. Thanks for the wishes of you all here! : ) In this year I lost my best friends ever, my father and dearest aunt, a mother to me, hope 2025 may only become better than this 2024... No complaints at professional level though... Five/six awards (the 6th 'cause we're working on a sequel of a previous TV series not yet under my umbrella by then despite a determinant role in the nomination towards this prize this time) ten days ago for two feature movies shot in NZ and Macau, China, respectively, as producer with two of my partners in crime by this scribe of yours too. North of Portugal. My brother's new home. With my core family of three, brother, sister-in-law, nephews and his brother-in-law, sister-in-law and respective mother, very likely. Our mother is still recovering from a surgery two weeks ago, the 2nd one this year from another fall and same broken leg... so the youngest will be with her instead. Just life, I guess. While waiting for my FX30 next week arriving from a U.S. trip, Osmo Pocket 3 (have you already bought this jaw-dropper?) and their really small and handy accessories are the ones I regret today to not have discovered earlier from the previous model anyway. As never enough to have been reported before, that larger sensor, 4K 100/120fps and 10-bit D-Log M (even 4:2:0) are a thrice must : ) 4th axis stabilizer just to mention one of the plus size : D of this little toy is simultaneously-plainly-and-luxuriously a simple joy... : X The set of filters and extra add-ons, no less ; ) Testing all of them for these holidays! : P Happy Christmas and the best 2025 to everyone! EDIT/PS -- @Andrew Reid Thanks for extending that infamous 5-minutes editing limit here, serves to share more in the same post and in age of a big fail to twitter/X model without useless multiple posts so dispersive and annoying I intend to believe LOL :- )
  22. @BTM_Pix You need autofocus! LMAO :- ) PS: I could have asked to you instead if "No AF?" up there but Andrew stands the 5-minute limit for new edits... : D
  23. A Manffrotto, not a Leica? LOL Nice camera BTW ; ) What bloody brand is that? : P A hell of an expensive one, I guess! : D
  24. The problem with some "workers" is no less the fact they have no idea how to respect the shooter/customer, go figure showing any of it, gratitude included, for valuable-press-asset who actually also makes a brand whatever is. Happens to the best ones too. - EAG
