  1. Interesting and helpful feedback, thank you for you care to let us know here in this community : ) I can't wait to see more from your findings and see you two with @kye cooperating with each other thoughts : )) Even when people disagree they invariably have something to share and something you two have in common, your passion and appreciation from us here I am pretty sure : ))) Speaking of me, I miss your posts when you're absent from these boards :- ) People always have something to learn from each other and someone's else experience.
  2. No comments needed ; ) As previous Insta360 user must say their software is one of a kind :- )
  3. EOSHD.com user @markr041has also posted some handy comparison here on these boards with the recent just arrived Osmo Pocket 3:
  4. Unpaid honest review (with 8K sample @gt3rs) with a few comparison shootout testing with other capture setups (small YT studio environment), seems fairly neat to watch and see its potential for certain usage no miracles out there but definitely enough for professional applications, I am impressed because I've been struggling to see these devices for that purpose (had a couple of Hero 10 before I decided to sell):

    24p is outdated

On a not less serious note, the only advantage I see to shoot on 50p/60p or even 100fps/120fps is either going after the slowmo chance route on a 24p/25p timeline later on or stereoscope applications without the need for capture devices with the genlock feature all included in the bill to pay for the tool straight to the BTL (Below the Line) costs usually fixed and with a full impact directly within your budget for acquisition. But as someone already wrote here, if you want to respect the 360º look, don't forget you'll also either need for more light or a much more capable piece of technology, hence why I praise every single release to couple HFR feature on bright side of a good IQ balance and low light performance as has recently happened even from small sensor size introductions on light setup side of the world ; ) That. Not silly attempts on reinventing the wheel ;- ) I don't give a damn if their names are Peter Jackson or the free diver James Cameron : ) With the due respect, those names are no more than a mention in a single page of the history of this medium. In a word, hype. In a line, film aesthetics is much more than mere hype just for trying a larger entry into this book... - EAG :- )

    24p is outdated

They are different stuff for sure and ignore it trying to believe there's a new standard coming because it is fancy and more appealing to new audiences is a bit like to think a new tendence on global acceptance of LGBTQ on the rise will make heterossexuals like me guess we are so old-fashioned, so close to animal extinction, if we don't change!... LOL - EAG :- )
  7. I mean, comparatively... between these 2 devices : ) And still comparatively, with 8K 24p on low light too only for the Ace Pro, obviously... :- )

    24p is outdated

For sure... They're all tools, nothing more. 12K/8K/4K can look all the same. People will still use 8K or 12K cameras. Once again, horses for courses!
  9. Loved both! ; ) You cannot reach the same performance on GoPro for sure... Even though, Pocket is obviously my fav, I think there's place for the other one no doubt... Horses for courses beyond the small size factor. What resolution you've used the Ace Pro on these shots? 8K? It would be great to see 4K 120fps footage...

    24p is outdated

But you know what?... Opera music genre can only be shit coz singers look like to scream there and not having nuff raspy (aka hoarse) voice to impress the babes... who doesn't like babes? ; ) LOL : D Sorry guys, I couldn't resist and help myself! :- )

    24p is outdated

Matt, we two were practically writing at same time... Call it old-fashioned *cough cough* hey newcomers (never thought of a different meaning to this word I will omit to write it over here now LOL : ) but who once stared the eyes of Claudia Cardinale, face to face, as I've ever been lucky enough : ) realizes the real meaning for the expression TIMELESS... ;- )

    24p is outdated

Never in the history of this medium people were used to produce so much crappy footage... That's what really is. Aesthetics is a science. No one can intend to teach what doesn't know. A physician goes to a medical school, a lawyer to a law school. No layman can accurately think to even discuss with one or another. Eminem cannot be compared with Tchaikovsky or Strauss. The same way Michael Protzman with Martin Heidegger, only to refer a most odd outfit to some statements I've been reading over here, really :- )
  13. Looks much better looking than your GoPro samples, you know? In all senses, don't we agree on here @markr041@kye?
  14. Yes, we love the 24p motion and that 8K matches it perfectly... ; ) Your thoughts about your findings so far, hey beloved most-recent-capture-device-release-tester of our own? :- )
  15. When will we have it? I guess that will make more difficult to @Andrew Reid to ban anyone later on... LOL : ) Anyway, I tend to believe that would be such award to those who would attend it in any case whatsoever... ; ) Morever, to those who wouldn't be able to be physically there, it might be possible to attend via video conference or sorta web summit event but camera summit, hey Andrew? We could always show a bit of appreciation to this community created by our webmaster, thank you all guys and a special word to the owner of the house who has succeeded to keep one of the most interesting world-class online corners worldwide, let alone the topic of camera industry where this place is unique! :- )
  16. I love your posts @markr041with your contributions on videos from the most recent releases, but something I can tell you though... @kye has a refined sense of humour. Found these entries very funny BTW : ) Let alone the level of expertise this fellow of ours you included shows on every single topic kye addresses his focus. It is what it is : ) And I don't find those posts addressed to you or anyone else here offensive, on the opposite. Chill out pal and add a laugh instead ; ) I bet kye also appreciates such talks with you. As much as your rebel tone to defy anyone who doesn't bite the way you bite. His case too :- ) he just disagrees with you. You're also not in a difficult portrait although a bit embarrasssing if you claim it is abusive against you when seems not to some other people here or when you disagree with him taking it as two different sides on war : D Just distinct POVs on same subject. That's life :- )
  17. Where's the double like button?! ; ) oh God, how is it possible you to be me? ;- ) Isn't it? Yes, it is possible. Why? There's a name for: Windows by Microsoft. Two people in separate parts of the world having exactly the same feeling, ipsis verbis. Their achievement! These stupid professionals there think we live for them. They take the money from us for their daily job and put us to work on their behalf. We who have paid for it.
  18. Last but not least, something left outside from the above-posted is their contribution to the synthetic editing vs the analytic approach from Hollywood tradition, where the work of Delleuze will actually focus the emphasis on time vs space. And with a tremendous impact on the extension of the duration of shots. The lighter the capture rig is, the more flexible this process can happen. As well the whole set up of the design and découpage of the scenes to shoot, actors directing (or not when it is the reality to prevail as subject). https://movieperception.wordpress.com/2015/02/24/analytic-vs-synthetic-editing/ BTW, already mentioned from a post I had placed along this thread 22 months ago:
  19. The neorealist filmmakers brought the cameras to the streets. There is a joke told about Rossellini when Ingrid Bergman wrote to him (they would form a family and a team later) that he asked "who is she?" : D Hollywood was made indoors and Italians wanted to shoot the real life with real people (not professional actors as much as possible, etc.). Light equipment all the way where the French took advantage from their aesthetics proposal. French New Wave filmmakers had all been fascinated by their precursors, those Italians who had left the artificial construction out of their creation. That focus on the true portrait of the real conveyed from there. The light setup, yes. And the natural light source as exposure method too. It is famous the story often told as anecdotal note about Rossellini when he would have submitted all the crew to wait for the sun exactly to match the sun movement in the middle of two buildings around noon... In 2023, we celebrate 100 years of 16mm film introduced by Kodak. There are a lot of movie reels shot by amateurs since 20s of a century ago. I have a few of them, well, dozens or okay, hundreds LOL : ) in my private collection I am organising to say it more explicit as of now. Also trying to save those pictures with other professionals of same field. I am involved with a couple of labs. Part of my business today. French New Wave shooters were kids, young cinephiles, film critics (Cahiers du Cinema their Bible) their Italian neorealists their parents. While Italians brought Hollywood method to make films to the real life, FNW left the tripod. The film language was not anymore something necessarily stable, stuck on a few rules determinated by the need to look like or adopt a professional look. The shots didn't have to be lovely and carefully on the spot. As the industry had been so severe to put limits. Italians had opened the pandora box. French said why not to take the option to disrupt the whole thing with an amateur 16mm format, besides already used professionally for news reels, as for instance? And that's it! Came from their obsession with the real which popped up after WWII in Italy. No more fake, as mantra. Seems Orson Welles (F for Fake ; ) would have said that Rossellini was not a real director but all Italians great actors! LOL : ) The influence of neorealism is beyond the technical side of this craft, not so far from their approach to the way the technology should be adopted though. Here is a list of a few examples earned in the American cinema for example. John Cassavetes, one of the most influential filmmakers of the History of this medium (here's another link which can help to render better understanding of the relevance of the contribution of these people who were able to shoot "on grainy 16mm film stock and set over one night" as BFI tells the story here on Faces and the American Cinematographer here for Shadows), has his part of this route for sure, not only the case of someone I am proud to have had the luck to have personally met and associated to my curriculum and work with, even today, Jonas Mekas. Lars von Trier, also one of my dearest ones, did his course with his Dogma 95 movement when digital video had just arrived. Gilles Deleuze, a French thinker I've studied for decades and praise a lot and one of the most important individuals of the XX century, is the philosophical expression of all this.
  20. * I meant incentivize, don't pay attention to my English, only to the range of my attempt to let you have enthusiasm on my subjective scope... it would be a pleasure to see it! : ) This is one of fewer recent releases to push me to irrationally buy anything just for the pleasure to test low light on such small size factor :- ) A dream come true along the Osmo Pocket 3 in fact... Decades of waiting! : X
  21. LOL You look like a tough poster as you probably already know but in the end, you're one of the most valuable contributors with your real footage posted over these pages... You know something? I'd like to see your tests as you've usually offered us every time there's a new one just arriving to the town. Pity my subjective entries on this one don't incentivate you to go and bring us your street videography on low light shots BTW as usual coming from your NY walks. Osmo Pocket 3 is also welcome, speaking of devil : ) As well, your thoughts on your findings to compare the most sainted trinity to my view nowadays: Z8 (you already have) / Osmo Pocket 3 / Ace Pro :- )
  22. You know what? I don't care much for specs but what my eyes tell me and this is the best action cam today, no doubts on that one : ) Is it limited? Yes, still stands the same : ) I yet love 24 fps with movement, oh yeah! :- )
  23. Pure tease, sorry mate : ) No footage yet, once just arrived yesterday. But, as soon as we'll have something to post I will bring it to this our community :- ) I meant to address the idea 12K doesn't exclude the use of other platforms either acquisition or workflow. As we know, to capture 12K means too little : ) Will have zero impact on delivery for example. As well, only because we use raw as for instance doesn't mean we cannot praise 8-bit acquisition or anything else, like stated and mixed up there within my post. Or even film. That link pops up as slight hint of our joy for this add-on to the current range of resources without never let to not mention human aspect is second to none side by side throughout the technical front.
