Nicely put : ) The flickering shots are part of a test, I doubt they would easily be used in the final outcome to end to be screened (slowmotion as for instance is usually used under other premises : ) but this varies from production window to some other degree people are interested to fit their product ; ) The things have changed a bit since The Blair Witch Project to not say a year earlier with Festen and Idioterne... - EAG

Without intending to be self-indulgent : ) but I guess one of my comments up there sums up very straightforwardly ; ) on the spot the whole thing in a balanced way too ;- ) Either on Brecht approach or suspension of disbelief all included :- ) Without mention the RED camera credits, to each its own... - EAG

Nice readable and enjoyable conversation, thanks to the contributions of everyone :- )

LOL Nothing better than starting the year to read your posts ;- )

Man, loved your post, that's what makes sense to be here and feel you part of our lives! EAG :- )

That's true : ) Because she's lovely, this doesn't mean she cannot be a good housekeeper too... or vice versa : D but as you say Don, well, what does our experience know? ;- )

*aka smartphones

Man, film look is all about time (not colour space, resolution, etc.), i.e., shutter speed, people today tend to forget it : ) Reason why the "2021 cameras" smartphones are made by stupid and ignorant manufacturers' developers who don't understand a bit about what they're doing : X Once we're entering in 2022, let's hope one day this will change! ;- )

Loved everything in that shot... Minute 28:49 -- take a look on that lighting! By the way and here's another shot (the thesis or antithesis as you wish of the whole Soviet period's collective when individuals emerge from) and another scene where sound is used not from frame but into the frame (Lenin defended the allied Bauman when he got pregnant the woman of a fellow and she hanged herself) over the children's realm. Calls to me more prone to be classified as masterpiece :- )
-
Let alone, cinematography is definitely beyond lighting ; ) lensing calls for composition work and universe creation as you Marty fairly say, for sure :- )
-
For sure : ) Got what he means, however, without mention that's a camera test for a certain look towards a film project to take off from there (this is promising stuff to hint what comes next), let's just take a look on this other one but not from RED's Komodo now: Not the same highlight rolloff a flary cinematography approach helps to extract the best from despite the distinct capture device. Average? Maybe yes or not depending on perspective ; ) just no other than from a skilled craftswoman anyway. The only thing to bother me but not much because rather acceptable for tests, it's a bit of flickering a little bit there and over there to dismiss, nevertheless, keep in mind they are motivated shots just not under controlled lighting :- )
-
Loved the flary highlights both from the capture device matched to proper lensing skills and who rules the light beyond the tools, obviously (EAG :- )

Pictures are the destination of cameras and glass. They didn't begin with bits and bytes. Here's the proof YouTube serves not only for garbage clickbait, here's one -- I tried to find it guess where: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikolay_Bauman_(film) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikolay_Bauman https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bauman_Street,_Kazan

We've been in touch through private messaging during this pandemic period but we haven't seen his posts so much over this family more recently ; ) However seems he's restarting to make our days better with his thoughts available to all once again : ) Love this guy! @webrunner5

I love combos : ) Well, isn't filmmaking all about that, after all? ; ) 4K resolution coupled to vintage glass looks like to my eyes a perfect one :- ) Lovely imagerie @kye!

What a cinematographer : ) And what a device! @Phil Holland please address my kudos and personal satisfaction to my good old friend Jarred :- )
-
On the spot ; ) you're like Port wine, mate, the older the better ;- )
-
No, I think you have that mindset... You know good POVs of other people contribute for deeper insights of ourselves : ) P4K is able of that contribution IMO : ) For some reason they've called it a Pocket camera! : D

Go ahead, fellow, love your stories and reflections about it BTW :- ) PS: Sounded to me a bit digitally Shakespearean my tone now but anyway... PPS : D I knew I had listened it somewhere: https://shakespeare.sayit.mysociety.org/speech/546140 Without this kind of posting our world would be a much colder place in fact :- )

OnePlus 9 Pro. I will try with the previous processor going along the superb ASUS Zenfone 7 Pro (both are able of 8K 30p and 4K 120fps recording). But, I would not hold my breath too long with smartphone manufacturers... Their motion picture sensibility is the same of someone who doesn't know where the local movie theater is : D Their interface shooting is a truly PITA for filmmaking in 99% of cases, unfortunately. - EAG

PS: Reboot or retart the app, I mean, not the device... It goes all of a sudden lower than its standard 4000 wide (aspect ratio is fully customizable... where else you find it, humm?) when you play and give much use to extract the best from the intuitive menus along the most recent beta version as of today. Some control on WB other than auto mode you can block anyway wouldn't hurt either at all. Ingenious piece of software and for free! ;- )

I've been testing it here with a few devices... Very interesting user interface, as Spartan as I like it : ) But, the more processing power the better, I don't recommend old slow chips, it doesn't make sense, for the sake of it, the newer and top the better : ) Works like a charm, incredible tool, fairly filmmaking friendly as expected IMO ; ) I just detect a bug so far but if you reboot it you're fine : )) I only miss faster frame rates other than 24/25/30... but you have slower range for your joy experiments so very eclectic, one of my fav apps so far < 3 @Andrew Reid what about an article about it, pal? :- )
