Masters of darkness - Panasonic GH5S and Sony A7R III in extreme low light
Emanuel replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Dennis you and me, as usual always going after the same good mantra... LOL Funny enough, I think they should hire us for their consulting team for once... (E :-) <PS> For the most aerial guys ;-) -
Correct. Horses for courses.

Jon, I think Matthew meant such ignoring mode underestimated the tool. People were surprised with Samsung's dare. Pity, ended too short.

He's an industry runner, that's all. BTW, pilot still stands. Nothing beats the man behind, no matter what :-)
-
@Matthew Hartman great post, man :-)

Don, at one of his best... LOL Go on that Pana 100-400mm with crop and ETC mode and you'll end well beyond a thousand mm focal length away... Or use an inexpensive mirror zoom lens with that particular bokeh but for daylight :-) http://www.whatdigitalcamera.com/technology_guides/mirror-lens-what-is-it-and-how-does-it-work-64667 I also like the fast (f/2.8) Olympus 40-150mm for a friendly match with GH5 including autofocus too (add the native teleconverter* and you'll reach a perfect 210mm f/4): * http://www.getolympus.com/us/en/m-zuiko-digital-1-4x-teleconverter-mc-14.html Speriamo sia femmina... :-)

I've posted this test in a few threads for about two years and a half now since these test results have popped up. You can also find a good discussion here: -

A pity, if so... a7RIII performance in this comparison test is simply a good revelation. Impressive. Seems this still stands though: -

Take a look on this: sample extracted from (minute 28:30): https://vimeo.com/114978513 Bit rate is more crucial than anything else... -
Sony A7R III review - the BBC fixed Sony's colour!
Emanuel replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
yeah, Sony colors require some tweaks by their own... -
@ntblowz Congrats! :-)

! That's truly a full tele mode, guys and gals! :-)

And many usual detractors have fueled their shameful defamatory campaign... Seems 4K60p (via HDMI or not) 10-bit 4:2:2 high(er) bitrate GH5 series have hurt not only a few ; ) ISO2500 won't hurt this time ;-) No worries mate, I guess you'll risk to (pre)order a higher resolution version in a couple of months to come... LOL :-)

What puzzles me is the poor photography men apply or achieve with the excuse based on available light when should even be a way further more demanding circumstances for improving framing -- truly B-factor, as for instance, though; seen, on the contrary, in that NY footage above instead... (just my two cents anyways, E :-)
-
4/3" format is well demanding more than any other larger one, like night and day, you can drive in one of those directions between a more cinematic way exploiting glass routes such as those supplied by friendly speed boosters or fall in the videoish category instead... GH5S versus the GH5 standard as comparative tools in one line : D so to speak ; ) But, as we all know it is everything in the pilot's hands no matter what : ) That said... ^ here's a fine example of that :-)
-
Not a comparative but I find the other one above-posted by me much more interesting though... : ) The glass settings choice there obviously counts :-)

A perfect match (where's the redundancy?! ; )
