sanveer got a reaction from Palpet in (FT5) First images and full specs of the new Panasonic G80. Has new 12-60mm Leica lens!
B&H apparently leaked the G85's specs, and then took it down (not before yahoo news and a few others picked it up).
"B&H is pleased to share Panasonic's announcement of their latest mirrorless release, the DMC-G85, which brings a familiar set of features to a new form factor. This versatile Micro Four Thirds mirrorless model utilizes the 16MP Live MOS sensor to provide a sensitivity range up to ISO 25600, 6 fps shooting with continuous autofocus, and UHD 4K recording at 30p. This 4K ability enables the use of 4K Photo Modes, too, for shooting 8MP stills at 30 fps in three ways. Five-axis sensor-shift image stabilization limits camera shake for sharper results, and supports Dual I.S. when used in conjunction with select lenses which also feature IS, for more effective overall stabilization. The ergonomic design of the body incorporates a 2.36m-dot electronic viewfinder and a free-angle 3.0" 1.04m-dot LCD touchscreen, and built-in Wi-Fi permits remote camera control and wireless image sharing with a mobile device. Adding to the potential of the G85 is an optional DMW-BGG1 Battery Grip, which holds two DMW-BLC12 battery packs for extended shooting time, and offers a second shutter-release button, AF/AE lock button, exposure-compensation button, and dual-control dials for more ergonomic vertical shooting."

P.S.: B&H fired 3 more employees this morning. They were complaining about terrible communication between the managers, and the lower staff.

I was excited to see a new 12-60mm lens as it could be the perfect run and gun lens (the MFT equivalent of a 24-120mm), but then I saw the f stop..... f3.5-5.6! That sucks. Wanted *at least* constant f4

sanveer reacted to IronFilm in Yi Gatecrashing the M4/3 Party
If Yi does to Panasonic what Kinefinity is doing to RED (or heck, Yi is doing to GoPro!) then we've got very exciting times ahead indeed! :D

Picking up ProTune was the best thing GoPro did. But that is more in the realm of professional work, and most of those features are wasted on people who don't want too much work in post (except movie makers). Also, when they picked up ProTune, people (arguably) weren't using them too much foe grading.
They should have had better low light and battery life along with other things. And STABILIZATION.
Also, GoPro prices have been the biggest cause of its Financial Downfall.
I don't want to give you the figures, you can check any source that seems reasonable. GoPro is seriously down.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
I love American reviewers. They're the Funniest. Brits are just ancient colonial racists. Almost to the point of being boring. Americans, on the other hand, democratically crib so uniformly. I love their reviews. This review was so clumsy, disorganised and cribby, it was hilarious. Never mind that the product got completely ignored.

Gopro suckled at margins with only small incremental changes as long as they could, someone like Xiaomi now has the power to crush them. The only thing that could potentially save Gopro is their name/marketing hype... are they Apple? That is the 1,000,000 dollar question (my instincts tell me they are not).

Absolutely. Along with an Attached LCD Screen, along excellent touch functionality and menu. And arguably better sound (they are apparently also working on different mics for the Yi 4k).

Simple economics says GoPro is done if they don't make some kind of change. Why would people buy a GoPro when they could buy the Yi 4k for about half? If word gets around well enough (and with smaller products like this it usually does) GoPro will be having a very hard time this sector. DJI should also be worried I think.

Nail in the coffin? GoPro is still light years ahead of the competition. Protune, Cineform, flat profiles, global shutter...they had this years before people ever heard of Log. You can shoot 4K Protune flat and export to 1080p 4:4:4 right inside GoPro studio.

sanveer reacted to John Matthews in An adventure into the Panasonic GX85/80 begins - and a look at the Leica Nocticron for Micro Four Thirds
According to rumors, the update to the G7 and LX100 will be announced around September 19, 2016 and I imagine availability will be in November/December 2016 (in time for X-mas) . I received my GX80 on May 20, 2016. That's a total of 6 months at being the newest. That seems on par with other Panasonic cameras I guess. Actually, I thought the earthquake in Japan would have had an even bigger impact for Panasonic as I believe Sony was making these sensors. Really, the GH5 availability will be the big question.

Hahaha. It's true, though the time period for the newer models is too short.
True. But they are making 6 month old models redundant. That is very curious.

I am not sure what Panasonic is upto.
It kills the GX7, GX8 and G7 with the GX85. And now they are rumours of the G80 that will have OBIS and 8-bit 4-2-2 INTERNAL. If it is true, it will make the GX85 redundant.
At this rate, in the end, Panasonic will kill all other lines, except the GH.
Very inspiring.

So? They're lower end models you're referring to, so of course they should be replaced by something better fairly quickly.
Additionally the GX series is aimed at photographers, thus naturally their video specs should be easy enough to beat with a soon to come out new model.

I've only tried "Normal" IBIS with the Nikkor 28mm and I couldn't keep the thing still. With e-stabilization in 5-Axis Hybrid mode, it floats.

sanveer got a reaction from kidzrevil in Film Convert Is Dead!
Actually Film Grain doesn't have to be very Obvious (for want of a better word). I saw some films (most likely shot on the Alexa and Red Dragon), which looked way too digital, and un-filmlike, without grain.
IMHO grain doesn't make the image worse. It makes it better. It makes it seem more alive.
