    BTW it's not clear but where the dropdown gives you options for 4k, 4k aps-c, 1080p, 1080p aps-c,  the "4k APS-C" means 4k 30p and "1080p APS-C" means 120p. Not sure why they've named them such.
@wobba I also bought a GX80 and then a a6300 shortly after (my wallet is pretty battered now). I agree with all those points you made. I would also add that skintones are far more accurate (with the Standard profiles or with SLOG2 and SGamut3.Cine colour). Also a big issue I have with Panasonic cameras is that flares from bright lights cause purple streaks; an issue that Sony and other manufacturers don't have.
I still have my GX80 because I cant decide which to keep. I have particularly shaky hands so the 5-axis is a godsend for me. And the 1080 is just so much more detailed as well..

Regarding the firmware update, I didn't get any more overheating since I loaded it. Seems quite stable since then even though I kept shooting in the same conditions.
I use the 16-50 kit (wish it had the same filter thread as the others), the 35 1.8 and the 50 1.8 so all my lenses have native image stabilization. Seems to do its job reasonably well but I'm super shaky.

Sorry, I meant color correct. I find it easier to correct the white balance on the GX85, especially in mixed lighting. Don't know why but it just seems easier to get it right. It also holds up a lot better in the shadows and mids.
Another thing which isn't exactly grading is that if I shoot a scene slightly underexposed to protect the highlights at iso 200 I can easily correct exposure in post without getting any noise in the image. On my GH4 I would often get a little noise if I missed exposure or WB.
With that being said I would never have sold my GH4 if the GH5 wasn't on the way. As many has stated before me it's a great production cam. In fact the only thing I disliked about my GH4 was the low light performance.

With the fix, I've just ordered another one. Will run it next to the A7rII and see if its better than the one I had when it was first released.

I couldn't decide and bought both the GX85 and A6300.  I ended up keeping the A6300.  The key issue wiht the A6300, overheating, has essentially been resolved.  Rolling shutter is slightly worse with the A6300 but still very evident with the GX85.  The GX85 records shockingly poor audio, the worst I've ever come across, due in part to the constant background noise generated by the IBIS.  AF tracking with the GX85's contrast detect system is also useless.  The A6300's hybrid phase/contrast detect AF, on the other hand, is sensational and only falters in difficult conditions (e.g. strong backlighting).  I like to shoot with shutter priority (1/50s) letting the camera adjust exposure on the run.  In this mode, the GX85 changes the aperture in discrete (annoying) steps.  The A6300 makes stepless aperture adjustments resulting in seamless transitions when shooting in varying lighting conditions.  The IBIS is great with the GX85 but this, on it's own, did not compensate for these major shortcomings.

If Xiaomi make a decent Log profile for the video (like Protunes), it will sell even more. Though, both of them don't have very sharp lenses, for stills.

That's great to know. I'll see if I can update from the lobby computer. Leaves the A6300 with only the rolling shutter as a real annoyance.
Sony really has the means to make a kick ass camera, makes you wonder who there makes the questionable decisions that lead to the quirks.

GoPro is dying. I bet my money on Xiaomi on putting the Final nail on the coffin. Considering the abyssal level of innovator at GoPro, they probably deserve it. Sad for the investors and shareholders.

Guys, no offense but could we get back to topic please which is the GX80?
we have bmmc topics, we have the "5 reasons why i will get the gh5" topic by andrew reid, etc.
it starts to get annoying that every thread here on the last couple of pages gets derailed into offtopic - which is a pitty, because the offtopic stuff is most often valuable enough to start dedicated posts (which i encourage you to create, so that others will participate!)
yet i would like to receive email notifications about ontopic related stuff

Yes, but it's a hack: Canon is still selling 2009's video codec in their DSLR, just to be sure you buy the C line for filmmaking.

My father has both 5D MKII and 5D MKIII for photos. I hacked them to try ML, but I would not use them for other then personal/repeatable gigs, since they are not reliable with ML loaded. Also: the menus and all the GUI of ML s not that great.
Nothing to say about the quality, but until Canon will not decide to produce their cameras with that features it will be not really usable for paid gigs where time is a factor.
I prefer to use my Lumix (GH4 and G7, GH4 never in V-Log, I made some tests also in ProRes 10 bit with video assist and I prefer to use them with Andy's "Natural" profile) and the little awesome BM Micro Cinema when I have more time between the shots.

The Micro or the Pocket are way more reliable if you need RAW or Log.
    Of course, my opinion

We're currently on vacation in Thailand and I got the A6300 to overheat for the first time. 29°C and cloudy, shot maybe 10 clips with 15-30 sec each in addition to ~ 50 pictures and it went into cool down warning. Was quite surprised as it wasn't that warm outside.
I would agree that the camera is a bad choice if reliability is of any importance. I didn't install the latest firmware yet but it only mentions overheating during picture shooting so who knows if it'd even help.

Yup! 'better processing now for example would allow for these more or less experimental features like an anamorphic mode, to be used to its fullest'. Same goes for V-Log. They didn't bring out the GH4 anticipating they were going to release V-Log for it. The platform wasn't ready for it, but they gave it a shot. Building a camera from the ground up knowing it should be able to handle V-Log, that must turn into a huge improvement. And indeed it would be nice to see V-Log and CineLike-profiles on the rest of the range. But I think it's a deliberate choice not to give it to the lower range, call it 'Canon segmentation' if you will... you want cinematic range features? You buy the cinematic range cameras.

I guess the fact that Panasonic was out of Pro Video for a while (years), makes their Codes still something to be worked on. The VLog, IMHO, needs atleast more 2-3 iterations. I am saying this, because the Panasonic GH4 has 12.8 stops of Dynamic Range in RAW Photo at base ISO, while Cinelike D has 10.9 Stops, and the VLog has probably 11.5 stops.
The Sony A7S, on the other hand, has about 14.2 Stops of Dynamic Range in RAW photo, and about 14.1 Stops in SLog2. Which outlines how badly the VLog needs to be worked on seriously.

In my opinion, the next GH Camera (and All Panasonic Cameras, to be honest) need a Very Good VLog, that pulls in Atleast 12.5 Stops of Dynanic Range at the Maximum, and 11.5 Stops, in the Minimum. And VLog profiles should be on All Panasonic Cameras, regardless of the price. The GH5 can have the top-end version, and it can be a $199 paid firmware, if it makes Panasonic happy. But, all Panasonic Cameras should have VLog.

    What a ridiculous idea.
Corporations run countries like the US. All sorts of human rights violations already take place on a Huge Scale, despite the Plethora of Human Rights Laws.
If Corporations are given a Free Fun (like with Private Prisons in the US), almost everyone who is not buying thousands in music and films will be in jail. Regardless of who commits piracy.
Also a huge population of young children indulge in piracy. I am not sure I would want corporations handling them.
A study by Harvard University Students not too long ago showed that Piracy actually helps draw traffic for sales for music and movies. So people opposing Piracy are also people who are either genuinely uninformed, or part of Corporate Greed.
I don't support Piracy. But giving Corporations more teeth is suicidal for human rights.
Also, Interestingly the Biggest Plagiarists are the Corporations/ Studios/ Uber Riche. Did you read about how Getty Images has been indulging in some terrible levels of piracy and monopolising Public IP of late (it is rightly being sued by a photographer whose worked it stole and then attempted to Blackmail her for using her own pics). When Large Corporations are given teeth, they usually go on a criminal rampage.

Maybe so. Yet... they did jeopardize the A6300's reliability. Even if you're doing some small production, there's going to be a time and patience/willingness constraint. If you're working with people at some point they're going to be sick of your 'ow, wait, there goes the camera again, great performance you guys, but we'll have to reshoot this'. And some moments are exactly that: 'moments', and you might not get a 2nd chance to relive it. That's why you probably can't have your camera fail on you all of a sudden, prompting warnings or just shut down. Add the rolling shutter and Sony colors you'll have to struggle with... even with the solid 4K and respectable lowlight performance, are you really so easy to forgive it? Are you going out of your way, by flipping out the screen, opening the battery compartment and even mounting a fan to make it work for you? Why would you do that to yourself? That borders masochism. Does the end justify the means? For me, I like to be in control. I like to shoot at my chosen focal length, focus distance, f-stop, shutterspeed, ISO and white balance. I certainly don't let the camera decide when to start and when to call it a day. When it's critical to get the shot, you gotta be able to trust your camera to handle it. If it can quit on you at any given time, that's just no bueno. But that's just my two cents. I wanted to love and get the A6300, but ultimately I just couldn't.

I was actually checking the same thing (whether the PAL to NTSC hack also gets rid of the recording time limit). It appears, that, unfortunately, the 30 min time limit remains:

(Check the answer to the first comment, on his video)

Post Script:  I saw another video, that says in the comments, that it Removes the Time Limit. If it really does, then its gr8 (I wonder if the buttons order, for pressing, switching off and switching on the are same?).

And here is the Reddit discussion about the same thing, and they too claim the 30 min time limit is gone:
