  1. The GH4 on Shogun more than holds it's own against the A7S and various other Sony's. Look at the 200% zoom at night in particular, I can see much more detail in the buildings on the GH4 than the A7S. Now, some of that can be grading. The GH4, one year later, is still rocking it. https://vimeo.com/117074874
  2. Even if you get only a few really great tips it can make all the difference in your final product. I'd say go for it.
  3. Camera operator, Director, Actors, Location, Acting, Sound,... and about 30 other things are more important than DR. That's a great looking film.
  4. I really looking forward to playing with 10 bit GH4 files. Hopefully Andrew gives us a few clips to play with.
  5. Dunno, I find the GH4 one heck of a good stills camera below 800 ISO. It's the first Panasonic I'd trust in a pro paid stills setting.
  6. I agree with Ebrahim Saadawi, The GH4/A7S/NX1 are the very definition of DSLR Killers being superior to DSLR's for video, and mirrorless, The C100 might be considered a 1080p Camcorder Killer.
  7. At least he puts his sponsored by Canon Logo on top of his page as a proper disclaimer to anything he says. :)
  8. ETC mode was great when we didn't have 4k. it allowed us to have two focal lengths with one lens. Of course, it needed quite a bit of light to keep noise down, but it was very useful on the GH2. It's not quite as useful on the GH4 since we currently mostly shoot 4k and edit in 1080P.
  9. I have the Kamerar. It's built well and works. It did need a bit of break-in time as it was a bit stiff when new. It's very good.
  10. No EVF, I won't buy it. Plain and simple. Shooting outside with a DSLR using just the Live View is pretty bad. actually, it's really bad.
  11. The decision for me is this or the LX100 as my second camera. I really wish the LX100 had the exact same color profiles as the GH4.
  12. I believe they could very closely match the color of the Varicam on the GH4. Now, the resolution and DR, maybe not, but the Color should be doable. Canon manages to match their colors across their lines pretty well, No reason why Panasonic can't.
  13. From what I remember he went on to say he liked the lens. I like Drew as well. wish he would come back.
  14. I always find myself looking at the bokeh in movies to see if I can figure out the lens choice. Man, the Cookes in that test with the Leica really did pop. The skin tones just feel right too.
  15. A simplified explanation as far as I know,... Theoretically in LOG you can get the flattest and widest dynamic range video possible from the sensor. In the GH4's case it could be 10 bit recorded externally, or they may try to cram that DR into an 8-Bit (Sony A7S has 8-Bit S-Log I believe) image for internal recording. The footage will need grading in post to look good, but in the right hands it could make for very high quality footage. Pros here can correct me if I'm wrong.
  16. They did mention a firmware update for this week, or next week last month I believe. For the GH4 itself. So maybe we'll see it soon.

  18. I like the idea of the MFT mount. You could put nearly any lens ever made on this thing. the S35 sensor is very appealing as well. The price seems good too. Now lets start seeing some footage.
  19. dedicated to the GH4? how would this differ from the ones they already have for M43?
  20. I have the Genus Eclipse as well. I like it.
  21. I agree about the drone, with that lens and it's low weight this would rock on a drone.
  22. Excellent Video Andrew!! I've been thinking about getting this camera for the lens alone. This would be a great go everywhere camera.
  23. GH3 is now under $700, I'd go for that and the 20mm 1.7 to start, then I'd build up a collection of FD lenses. I have the 24 2.8 and 55 1.2 myself.
