  1. I'd like to start off by saying the Sony looks like it's going to be a fantastic camera. The 12 megapixel sensor idea is something I know Andrew has mentioned at least once years ago as a great solution for video when everyone was upping megapixel counts, mostly for marketing reasons. Well, Sony has done it here. Pretty amazing. That said, I want 4k now, and I don't want to have to buy some add-on to get it, as it seems to throw out the whole small form factor dslr concept. Panasonic just seems to "Get me" more than pretty much everyone else right now. Sure, they have "The Brick" add on, but it's not necessary for what I do, and if it becomes necessary I know it's there. I'm still not 100% sold on my next camera purchase, but it's looking like it's going to be the GH4 for me. I don't purchase cameras often so when I do it's something I have to use for at least the next 3-4 years.
  2. Video-ish? The Panasonic and Sony Cams definitely don't look video-ish, that is unless you want to make the footage look video-ish. This same argument has been used by canon users since the beginning of time it seems. I guess if it works for ya keep at it. :)
  3. The guy at Atomos was afraid to mention the GH4 on this when the interviewer mentioned it. Sony must've paid him to button his lips. Not that Sony is worried about the GH4.
  4. agree, When not shooting with it the prop department can use it as a high-tech looking time bomb detonation device.
  5. Man they are all over the place with this stuff!
  6. what kind of lens mount does it use and it looks like it's got some lens control on the handle? This might be nice for small market tv stations and college production studios.
  7. Low light beast. you won't even need fast glass to use this puppy in low light. still,... it seems like they rushed this out before they could figure out how to get internal 4k reliably. Lovely image though. Priced right I'd get one.
  8. I was expecting the 5D to walk away with this one, but am surprised how well the GH4 holds up, Not to mention the GH4's image is more detailed.
  9. I bet it'll be a rolling shutter monster. but they may surprise us.
  10. I could definitely see sony doing this. This could be one heck of a great camera if they can somehow pull it off. Lack of lenses aside, it would be interesting!
  11. @Gzig, I'll bet they have one in development and probably very near ready to go. NAB will be interesting.
  12. Well that's interesting, Good thing I spend 98% of my time shooting under ISO3200.
  13. Yep, I agree, if you just want to get the video in and out it looks like the mode to be in or at least an optional look to have in your pocket.
  14. GH4/Blackmagic/5DMIII Raw are all pretty much excellent as far as I'm concerned. Stock 5DMIII is a letdown, even compared to the GH3, in this particular shootout video that is.
  15. After looking at it again, Notice the skin tones on the GH4 Cinelike-V. They look like a really nice quick way to get some superb color out of the GH4 if you don't have time to grade.
  16. Crop, zoom, pan, tilt a 4k file with zero loss of quality in your 1080 Edit. Plenty of reasons 4k is good for a 1080 or Web Edit.
  17. You can definitely grade/fix white balance on the 4k files. I've done it on a few clips from Andrew and they hold up extremely well.
  18. Nice Grade Butch! I pushed mine just slightly more red in homage to the canon people. :)
  19. off topic a bit, but I was humming the song last night when I went home and my wife started to sing it, in chinese. She would sing it to her dog as a kid. I thought that was pretty cool.
  20. Imagine if something like this tech filtered down to the GH series... it would be like the last piece of the puzzle. I'm not complaining with what we have though!
  21. I definitely want to take a look at this when I've got some more time on the weekend. Thank you Andrew for doing this. It really helps a lot of people.
  22. Andrew, sorry if this was asked already, Is this all shot in Cine-D? I'm just so freakin excited about this cam. yep. FREAKIN excited! haha
