  1. I have been using windows for exactly 20 years now, and the secret is I believe to get a monster hardware under it. Especially because of that I would never judge OS performance if it runs on a laptop. They have all sorts of crazy resource management solutions built into them, thermal throttling, shit bios etc. Who knows what trickery they had to employ to get that 18mm thick Razor Blade 1 degree cooler than lava..
  2. Sadly I don't know much more than you do, but I think he's working on a prime set initially. I would love to see an adapter actually but primes make sense too. Find him on vimeo, he posted a test a month ago.
  3. That guy is a joker, thinks he can finish off repaying his student loan in one go or something. I really expected Samyang to enter the budget anamorphic market a long time ago. I even wrote them a heads up email. I am such an influental guy you see, they still haven't given up on signing me with the r&d department.. SLRMagic should work on the quality of their glass a bit more, and for the love of God, please get rid of those baby blue flares. On a more positive note I am absolutely curious what Forrest Schultz will come up this year. He's been working on his Apollo concept a while now.
  4. Hey guys, Maybe someone asked before, but I see this firmware update timetable, and there's something like a 48p 4K mode, probably in a 24p container. Is that supposed to be 10bit/400Mbps? @Edit: Nah, it's 150Mpbs/8bit, I figured it out.
  5. Youtube ads? I didn't even know they exist until I got a smartphone a few years ago, been blocking the shit out of ads on my PC. So if you don't monetize with ads where did the 40k come from? I am not being funny, don't worry, I am genuinely interested. So if 1.2 mil can make that much, the guys over at Screen Junkies must be making loads more. They have videos with like 2.5 mil views per year.
  6. Don't worry racer I am not looking for an argument here You know it is a waiting game, most of the cases you can get anything straight away for a premium price but if you manage to sit tight for a few months you will actually find a much better deal. Just like those Iscoramas floating on Ebay for months with a crazy price tag, if you are in a desperate need to shoot anamorphic then surely go ahead, but wait another month and there will be an offer for at least a grand cheaper. Ebay keeps giving me the "Sorry, we couldn't complete your request" error every time I want to open my watch history so I can't show you those two auctions but believe me, they were under £500, and the seller kept relisting them. One week they disappeared and soon two strangely identical lenses showed up in that German seller's portfolio for twice as much.
  7. There were a pair of them on ebay a month ago, around £400-500. I have a feeling those "Mini Iscoramas" are the exact same ones actually, slightly modified by the new seller.
  8. Liszon

    C500 shoot.

Nice. I would love to play with a DNG pulled from the Odyssey. I have no idea what to expect from Canon raw. (I see you capture this in ProRes, but anyway..)
  9. Advertising auctions gathers new bidders. New bidders mean less chance to get something close to the lowest fixed price.
  10. Especially if Ebay auctions get shared here all the time..
  11. Hey Sketch, do you have a picture of your rig? How do you like the Mini 4.6K so far? By the way, I downloaded your shots from Flickr, and when viewed in full res I can see a vertical line pattern embedded in the image. Is that visible in the source files as well? What format where you shooting in?
  12. Yeah I never had these, I use an old Zacuto. Reviewers seem to like the monitor itself, most of them agreed the loupe is bad. I was thinking about getting one, the Zacuto might be feature packed but the quality of motion is ugly. What was so wrong with the Feelworld's screen?
  13. The Feelworld S350 would probably work as well, besides HDMI it has SDI too. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Feelworld-3-5-RGB-SDI-HDMI-Electronic-View-Finder-F-BMCC-BMPCC-BMPC-DSLR-5D-II-/191673451555
  14. Impressive indeed, but pixel shift works best when the subject is still.
  15. Ahh God Canon. For this much money that 12bit raw should be done inside the giant shoebox you glued to the back of a C300. We get 4K @ 50P internally. Hurray! Ehh.
  16. Mix the Pentax K-1 into the comparison. Half the price of the Canon. It's even cleaner than the D810 at ISO100, 1/320, +6EV. Not to mention it leaves the 5D IV in the dust. Pentax is such an underdog, I wish it would be more well known. The K5 was a fantastic machine, I loved it.
  17. I am not sure about that. The firmware might be up to date but 4K is still dependent on the paid unlock code. Some shops (eg. Adorama) sell packages with the extra licence included, others don't seem to even mention it.
  18. A-humm.. Yes, we know it does 4K. What we were saying is that it doesn't do internal 4k raw without a hardware add-on and it wouldn't do internal 4K either without a paid software upgrade. The F5 sounds like an awesome camera by the way, no doubt, but for the 23 grand total you have many other options to choose from.
  19. Well what he said is not a lie actually, the bare bones 16k F5 doesn't do internal raw - unless you have the R5 sitting in the back.
  20. I also through the price was a bit too steep for a lens with fungus, didn't imagine it will go away that fast.
  21. This looks very similar to the RED Xenomorph. Reminds me of those Sony cameras that Hasselblad "repacked".
  22. I had a go with your footage - for which I can't thank you enough. I am pretty satisfied with what I am seeing here. Well, I only spent a few minutes on it but so far the image feels very similar to my BMPCC. That first image with the girl standing in front of the river, I think it's just a matter of a few unfortunate circumstances. When I checked that in 4K the focus seemed off, the highlights were clipping a bit and there's some ghosting around them too. Hard to pull a decent grade on it. Actually it is always hard to work with skin tones if they are in the shadows with a strong back light. I found the rest of the shots very agreeable, for example this one I could drag in any directions: I intentionally pulled up the luminance on the oranges and yellows, to separate the guy from the background better, but I could have easily made them more contrasty. This one is a good scenario, you have the black asphalt and the blue sky, easy to make the skin tones pop without changing the rest of the shot, unlike the other one with the girl where the colour of the sand/rocks were in a similar range to her skin.
  23. That's great Ben, thanks a lot! I will hit you up with a PM.
  24. Hey Ben, I would be very interested in seeing some original 4K raw files since I might be in the market for an FS700 in the future. If you would be so kind to upload something I would really appreciate it.
