Here's some quick footage. I like the stabilizer.
Pretty harsh Mathew. We're here to help and share with each other and maybe not to bash. Just grabbed my one-day-old camera on my way to the Bug Fair to mess around and thought I'd share. Hope it was helpful to some to point out some of it's strengths and limitations. Took a look at some your International doc work - nice.

Wanted to share this with you guys. I just shot this in Uruguay with a Nebula 4000 and an A7s with a Sony FE 28mm f2.0. I counter-balance the single handle rig by extending it with a rod and a monitor or a Shogun attached. It really helps for adding a little weight to the rig and especially for checking focus using auto focus with the A7s. In the photo attached on Vimeo, you see a quick release in front of the spare battery - that's actually for an H4n that I plugged a couple of Rode Videomic Lavs into who's receivers were clipped onto the sunshade of the monitor. My Nebula is tool-less using oversized gnarled screws found online by Jason Wingrove. Flew this rig from LA to Argentina, shot 12 days and it performed flawlessly. Still a great little gimblal. Below is just a work in progress for the family I'm making the film for.

We've been there already. Andrew had a brief look at the camera - see this thread:

It looks like a great camera. The best evolution of the D5300 is that it doesn't suffer from banding like the D5200 and has a slightly higher bit rate, so grading looks like an option now. Unfortunately Andrew overlooked this which is a shame because it looks like a very solid, worthwhile update.

New and 'innovative' cameras are always going to be sexier than modest, worthwhile evolutions of already great cameras. A shame.

Andrew's footage with the RX10 is really nice, but there's no way I'm paying £1000GBP for a camera that has aliasing problems and mushy 60p. Not in late 2013. Not when you can buy a G6 for £450.

The D5300 has no aliasing or moire problems, and as you say it uses H264, so 60p will hopefully be better than the RX10.

Hey Andrew - passed my GH2 around with the Voigtlander 25mm f0.95 wide open when Andrew Chan was in LA for a meet up. Guys were instantly shooting with it - no problem. You'll see there are moments of tack sharp focus in the video. Again - this was very informal shooting and the Anamorphot was a breeze to set up.

Everyone's pixelpeeping noise, highlights, grade, etc. when I'd like to applaud Andrew on his anamorphic chops and being able to use a dslr to shoot a narrative in such a time-honored tradition so seamlessly. The flares, closeups, focus pulls, IQ, on a rig the size of a kid's shoebox-great job!

Loving the image out of the D5200. Thanks for the heads up on that sensor, Andrew. Shot this on Sunday. No CC - just Filmconvert. Really like Nikon's colors compared to my GH2.

This design is like a sticky divorce, it doesn't match the modern design of the camera.
