The Sony FS700 hasn’t been out for long by pro equipment standards – around a year. Canon haven’t updated the semi-pro 7D DSLR for nearly 5 years! But Sony are planning an updated FS700R and FS700RH for later in the year, likely to be announced at IBC in Amsterdam this September.
George Clooney is a canny operator. The director and actor has launched a tirade at the hedge fund manager Daniel Loeb, now a major stakeholder in Sony, who is campaigning to have the profitable Sony movie business partially sold off. Clooney says it is becoming more and more difficult to get films like Argo green-lit – echoing the concerns of other top talent in Hollywood.

Sony have revealed two very early prototype cameras at NAB. They are hybrid stills / video cameras from the pro A/V division in Japan. One is a DSLR style camera with what looks like a PL mount. Sony is also committed to developing a range of full frame cinema prime lenses.
