Yeah, I may re-upload. I realize that. Except I deleted the RAW footage, I plan to upload another example and will upload in 4k, then will post it here.
-
Last 4 shots were shot internally with the Nikon FLAT profile. But everything else was NLOG with the Ninja Star.
-
I just wanted to share some footage I captured recently to demonstrate the quality one can get with a used Nikon Z6 and an Atomos Ninja Star. Oversampled 1080p, 10 bit prores, nice log curve with good color and solid DR, and a really good grading workflow in Davinci Resolve. A few shots were with the internal FLAT picture profile but the majority of the shots were in NLOG. This camera combo is really awesome for the price, and the Ninja Star keeps things light and compact! Also useable autofocus, full frame IQ, for pretty cheap!

Pretty cool but I wonder if it’s binned from the full-sensor? Or cropped?

I refuse to ignore. This thread is clearly superior.

Deciding closest modern camera to Digital Bolex look
FHDcrew replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
It seems like an absolute PAIN to shoot with, and I’ve heard the dynamic range is not amazing. But yes the global shutter basically makes up for it, so much mojo and glorious motion candence. And you get that sweet sweet uncompressed CDNG RAW video, so it’s very pure. Though it sucks in lowlight and has horrendous battery life, plus the ergonomics are strange. -

Funny you say it's collecting dust, I'm considering upgrading to a Panasonic S1 from my Nikon Z6. You selling? Just curious. -
Does it improve color depth? If I threw 8 bit Sony SLOG2 footage through it?
-
I think I agree with you here; Apple seems to have put no effort towards Final Cut Pro within the last few years.
-
Also do you convert to CDNG using the Mac app “Raw Convertor” to edit the raw files in Davinci?
-
To you does Prores RAW HQ or even normal Prores RAW have a similar level of thickness and organicness to that of Cinema DNG?
-
Fair but I like how complex and feature-packed resolve is right now. Feels like you can do anything it, and it somehow manages to stay intuitive too.
-
If you just need 1080p and can pick up a cheap Ninja Star then it's not really a hassle. The thing is tiny, weighs very little, and has excellent battery life with just one NPF550. So many cameras can output oversampled 1080p via their HDMI anyways that many cameras would benefit, and Prores 1080p gives a nice medium when it comes to bitrate
-
Yeah that's kind of the story by my username haha
-
I’m liking oversampled 1080p Prores HQ, bitrate around 220mb/s but with that Prores mojo and editing performance. I use a Nikon Z6, special HDMI settings, and an Atomos Ninja Star to achieve this. Really an underrated format though, capturing that oversampled video directly. 1/4 the file size but detail loss is not massive compared to 4k.

Sufjan Stevens is underrated.

I hate digital sharpness like a plague.
-
This is so true. I mean, on my Z6 when I record oversampled 1080p, the difference between it and native 4k is very minimal even when viewing the Prores copy. I can even get away with punching into the 1080p footage for interviews and while it gets softer it isn't unusable.
-
No, just the 70d sadly. Well, M50 does it but that’s a very rough ML build with barely anything functional.
-
Looks quite interesting to be honest, especially with the affordable f/1.4 viltrox & sigma prime lenses. If I ever sell my Nikon Z6 I may end up with an FX30, I feel like right now APSC is the way to go if we don't want significant compromises but at the same time do not want to pay an arm and a leg for an A7sIII or FX3 or R5C.
-
Deeply sorry, will keep both you and your sister in my prayers.
-
Judging by no flip-out screen, probably your average A7III. It could be an A7II but the video looks too detailed to be the pixel-binned A7II 1080p footage.
-
GH5 II had no internal sharpening? That’s very cool. NLOG on my Z6 feels a bit over sharpened; I’m thinking of going the Prores RAW update to be able to bypass sharpening and NR.

Yeah that’s why I said if they are adamant on not using SDI or full-HDMI, mini is the next best option.
