Yes of course, Im just tryingt o point out how overplayed and inaccurate that talking point is. Here in the US we have Trump who almost certainly initially downplayed the Coronavirus because of the threat imposed to his reelection and fired the officials responsible for responding to events like these months prior. And we also have officials who were aware of the threat but did nothing except sell their stocks. And only on Friday was there a coordinated response to manufacture supplies.

My greatest impression - thanks to @Django - is that now we have option to check I wish it button at one of the official selling page. Moreover, that button being located somehow under title information about Being developed (without info when, no really what, except misty alluring descriptions)... It's so funny that, in all market uncertainty, giants started to behave at crowdfunding  manner or as political opinion polls before elections.
When at march  2018. Blackmagic made their announce for 9 month in advance, it was for me like very cheeky behavior conceived to prevent buying cameras from other manufacturers (I noted that it will open Pandora's box of announcing) - at that time it was commonly to all (not just camera, but computer etc also) industry to announce full specs and fixed date 3-4 months ago, not so rarely even publishing preproduction tests or - symbolically - showing body under the naive, pure, poetic veil as Eva1. Do you remember those not far away days?
Now such behavior, when Petty went out with preproduction model showing how BM writes to USB-C disk and full list of promises seems as fairy tale. Look at us - actually we are talking about our own assumptions build over assumed possibilities judged by Canon previous strategy... inside of topic that call for our assumption of what Panasonic Sony etc can do regarding these assumptions squared chaos. Imho little bit as specs-addicted-zombis in some Twilight zone

If you read this statement glass half full sounds like 8K RAW is likely (may or may not be limited), with Canon's imagined use case is either an amazing burst mode of 20+ fps and a Olympus/Panasonic mode thats always taking photos and lets you select the best one after the fact. Or down sampling to 4k 4:4:4.
Also Sony isn't exactly pulling a Canon. From a resources management standpoint it doesn't make that much sense to spend money on their imaging department when they make so much money from their sensor department and supply everyone elses sensors anyways (except Canon).
UNlike Canon who stagnated because of overconfidence and cockiness, and probably the sweet bonuses that the executives could write themselves from money saved on R&D (or lack thereof).
Although I hink the trigger for Sony to step up will be the same as Canon's, declining sales of their cameras and lenses as a whole. At that point its too much money lost to ignore.

The problem is that Canon, like all big camera manufacturers, uses an ASIC architecture for the camera electronics and signal processing: single-purpose boards where most functions are hard-wired, allowing smaller bodies, less cooling and lower manufacturing costs in high volumes.
To implement ProRes, Canon would need to develop a new ASIC from scratch, which is expensive, and is only done every couple of camera generations, with one ASIC for all current Canon SLR and mirrorless cameras.
Blackmagic, Arri and RED and other smaller manufacturers use FPGA instead of ASIC: fully programmable boards (or mini computers) where new codecs and functions can be implemented in software. While FPGAs are more flexible and cheaper to develop initially, they are larger, require more cooling andbigger camera housings, and are more expensive to manufacture per piece than ASICs.
The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 4K and 6K cameras are good examples for those advantages and disadvantages of the FPGA architecture.
The Sigma fp is a good example for the advantages of ASIC (smaller body with a full frame sensor), but also for the disadvantages (lots of limitations that likely can't be fixed in firmware).

well you could also buy subscribers until you got enough actual viewers...it must happen quite often if stuff like this goes unreported

Spent some time with the 1DX3. It's an amazing beast of a camera as expected.
The AF is so fast I could hardly notice it 'working' half the time. Lightning quick response.
The touch screen response is also on another level VS previous generation.
AF is definitely present in all shooting modes (including 120fps) except above 4K30p.
RS quite visible in FF 4K24p. Gets much better in 4K crop mode (which is 1.3x like 1DX2).
Anyways, I realise everybody is waiting for R5/R6 announcements now but the 1DX3 is definitely a power house.
I'd even say the most advanced performing DSLR I've ever handled. Quite impressive.

He's totally free to push the limits of people's personal boundaries within public spaces for the sake of his art. By the same token he better be totally ok with the potential repercussions of his actions. Matter of fact, I'm sure he instinctively picks his subjects/victims based on how much of an immediate threat they might pose to him, which speaks to the predatory nature of his behavior... and that's regardless of whether his end goal is art, creepy kicks, or both. But to me the scarier people are those who can't just acknowledge that all these things are equally legitimate factors worth acknowledging when deciding whether what he is doing is actually worth it, for the sake of art... or whether there might actually be a way for him to do his art, while respecting the boundaries of his subjects (what, too hard of a proposition to wrap his boundary-pushing artist head around?).
Personally I have way more respect for the artist that cares about that part as much as they do their precious art.
