  1. Yes and as a stills camera, I would 100% choose the Sigma (subject to it receiving a grip) over the Lumix no question. But for me, not for video, simply because I’m a burn my LUT into my footage kind of guy and that is what I can do across all 3 Lumix cameras. But again 🦾 Sigma. Despite the stupid name 🙈
  2. OK, for my stills work, I’d be very tempted for a pair of them, provided some kind of grip appears which I assume it will, paired with their; 20mm, 35mm, 65mm f2’s and the 90mm f2.8. But that is where I hit a snag; 90mm being my longest option as 24mp does not allow for the kind of cropping I’d need to achieve consistent quality 150-200mm shots. And no, having a prime of that length would not work for me as it’s too rigid a focal length and nor would any zoom work because it would be too big, too heavy, too awkward or too slow. Umm. Like it, but I was hoping for at least a 40mp sensor and a bit more real world, my use case, use ability. I otherwise like it as I do all Sigma cameras. But not to actually use. Ah well, it makes my decision making progress more simple being able to remove this new body from any equation.
  3. But seriously? I can't tell with any certainty these days what is fake and what isn't until there is an official announcement, but this is not looking good...
  4. Never mind no; grip, IBIS, second card slots, 4k 60p and all that, this one doesn't even allow for any kind of video or photo capture but simply has a voice recording device so you can describe the scene or quote poetry.
  5. The pic on the left is the after, not the pic on the right.
  6. That ^ is Dave, well known camera reviewer and influencer. Normally ends his reviews by smashing the kit to pieces. And here is a pic below after he went on the Matt Granger diet.
  7. This along with 2 other factors, might swing it: 2. In camera crop markers which my current Sony does not have. 3. High quality matching super slow mo. Otherwise, I agree with several others in this thread and that is I don't think this one is intended as 'The Video' one but like most cameras these days, has to have at least decent video spec. The pure photographists will moan about that all over the interwebs, but they are just being unrealistic about the market `and what manufacturers have to do these days.
  8. It works perfectly and if I decide to sell it, I will let you know and with pictures! I got a filter adapter ring stuck and had to use a pair of pliers to remove it causing some damage to the thread which then meant in order to use a filter again, I had to use some of that black weld stuff to adapt a new filter adapter.. I don't even really notice it as it's all black on black on black, but it meant I kept the thing rather than sell it. I still might keep it as a 'walkabout lens' though as currently the S9 with it is my best answer to having a compact EDC...
  9. Which in an about flip from everything I posted above, is something else I am also considering because there are a couple of ‘niche’ things I am thinking about bringing into my capture and edit that I cannot currently do, but this new boy would allow and all within one single system which has great appeal. I would not flip one of my S5ii’s or my S9 for that ‘need’, but the S1Rii might just cover that off despite being a primary stills option for me…
  10. Not all about, but quite important. The OG S5 was/is awful. The S5ii better. A7RV better still. The S1H best I have had to date. But no, along with the crop markers, not a sufficient reason to change! If I stick with Sony for my stills, I might just switch my lenses though from; 20-40, 28-75 and 70-180 f2.8 Tamron’s for the Sigma pairing of; 28-105 f2.8 for all things outdoors plus 28-45 f1.8 for everything in. I do need something faster indoors and have been eyeing the latter lens for some time and that pairing on the 61mp offers some decent cropping which just about allows for the loss of the 70-180. If I flip my lenses… I think I’d have to chuck my Zf into the equation to make it work financially as that was going to be my lower light lens with ‘something’ f1.8 or faster. I do have the E-Z adapter so could otherwise keep the Zf and all 3 Tamron lenses and not flip them for the 28-105. Decisions decisions decisions… But not until or just after the 25th because Sigma might just be about to throw a grenade into the mix.
  11. And for stills over the A7RV that I already have…?? In camera crop markers. Err, struggling. It’s not looking like being any kind of upgrade for me and possibly not even a sideways one…but still waiting to see the official announcement. And what Sigma might have cooking…
  12. He’s a well known camera reviewer who wears oversized trousers (pants to the US brethren but trousers in the more civilised world who can also spell words like civilised properly) with his pockets stuffed full of camera gear like flashes and tripods and snacks. Who the hell are Jane’s Addiction?
  13. My instinct based on absolutely nada evidence is that if Sigma do indeed announce a new camera in a couple of days, it will not be a fovean sensor. I am ready to enter into a hat eating contest (as long as the hat is of reasonable size and relatively hygenic) if it’s not the same 44mp sensor as this new PannyBoy. Seems too big a coincidence to me. If that is the case, it had better have IBIS and some form of tilt screen this time or I’d stick with the LUMIX offering. I really REALLY fancy a Sigma FP type camera but they have fallen short (well short) of my real world needs so far.
  14. Coincidence on the date of these announcements or not though? 2 new L Mount cameras, same day, new not seen before sensor for at least one of them? I think there might be something in this…
  15. Indeed. The technical capabilities of anything are worth diddly squat without human intervention and operation. At least until AI or alien intervention surpasses us and that may not be so far off but does not exist in February 2025. I only add the latter for context just in case by the end of the year, we have indeed been surpassed. Which is within the realms of possibility… 🛸
  16. IF it is true, ie, that a new Sigma, possibly Fp camera is coming and if it is also true that LUMIX are not partnering with Leica and the SL-3 61mp (which we know is actually Sony and available in several other cameras) then maybe…just maybe, LUMIX and Sigma are partnering up and this new 44mp sensor is either a Sigma developed sensor or a collab? Now THAT might be VERY interesting… Same dates for the 2 announcements so even more likely?
  17. I don't know what some folks are doing (or smoking) but I've been shooting with S5II's since they came out and not experiencing all this crazy rolling shutter, moire, open gate long lens talk. I have at least 20 hours of total finished work on-line from just last year alone shot exclusively on S5II's in 6k open gate and if you can spot any of these issues, you have sharper eyes than I do. I just have my fingers crossed that the S1-2RXii is slightly more useable than the piece of shit S5ii. Because it's been holding me back and if only...
  18. I think he’s been in the same training camp as Dave Bautista? I keep seeing pictures of him having shed tons of weight also.
  19. Well comparing that pic to one of my S5ii’s the body looks near identical except slightly thicker from front to rear by around 5mm? The rear is either heavily disguised or deliberately blurred out it seems so no guesses on the type of rear screen. It’s looking very S5ii-ish though for sure!
  20. I think for me, my no. 1 choice of fixed lens compact would still need to be the Ricoh GR3, probably in X flavour. But for a ‘compact’ camera, I might currently choose my S9 with grip and Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 because it is jacket pocketable and a really neat little package. And because I already have that exact combo! OK, I can only shoot it in APSC crop mode, but that simply makes it a still f2.8 for light gathering purposes, 27-75mm. And is available in the Western World.
  21. Agreed. It's the lens for me, - great focal length IMO, but lens too slow. I get why it has to be, but I'd rather have something faster (min f2.8 ff equivalent) or it's a hard no for me. It's not that I am a bokeh whore or anything, but...
  22. Good spec and a nice looking camera. Why not available in Europe? The US I kind of understand. Trumpet doesn’t want anything not branded ‘Made in MAGAland’ on sale.
  23. Yes, it’s not totally terrible or an absolute dealbreaker, but 61 beats 44 just as 100 beats 61! I’m looking at trading my 70-180 (plus 28-75 and maybe 20-40) against that 28-105 f2.8 Sigma, the only current ‘one & done’ lens I will consider. An APSC in camera crop at a flick of a switch, gives me 26mp 157.5mm (61mp sensor with Sigma 28-105) so already trading another 22.5mm at the long end over a heavier and bulkier, but same speed 70-200mm (ie, up to 42.5mm) so the question is…and I can’t do the maths, but can I live with something like a 16mp 180-200mm equivalent file from a 44mp sensor? For my needs, probably yes and the ‘one & done’ camera/lens combo has huge appeal. I could already do it with my A7RV by trading my 3 current lenses for the single Sigma, but feel the body is not quite right for such a lens without the full battery grip…which is an option, but not one I really wish to take. So spec aside, one of the most interesting and possibly deciding factors for me, will be how this new ‘S1-2RXii’ compares with the A7RV from a purely size, weight and ergo perspective…
