    merry christmas

wow your well organized i commend you ( polite clapping ) i was lazy and went with gift cards. what type of dog, saint Bernard ? i kinda been looking for a new family pet / member, but i don't need any kind of working dog as they tend to chase the sheep around when they get bored and i'm not always home. so a lay around and not do much kinda dog is ok with me i'm glad that doesn't say bmp4k because you would see a grown man cry ?

    merry christmas

merry Christmas 2018 everyone i hope santa brought you all something nice this year. ?
  3. glad i joined before the entry level was raised do gopro's count ?
  4. if you bow down and humble yourself and touch the alter ( the one with the bmp4k on it ) all will be forgiven ?
  5. yer that was it. i will waiting for the camera to arrive, it will be just the two of us, lol + i dont plan on doing the trip too many times
  6. i'm trying real hard to be a bm fanboy but there's this issue of no camera to go on about, but for two grand i'd lower my standards enough to be seen up with a sony ?
  7. there was some tv series on a couple of years back about a small country town in the north maybe alaska or canada perhaps but the main thing i remember the main establishing shot has some moose walking right through the middle of the town, it always made me smile. i live in the the country about three and a half hours drive from a big city so to see animals wandering round unperturbed is normal for for me. i do plan on visiting a zoo, once or should that be if the bmp4k ever turns up.
  8. now there's a viral video waiting to happen ! if you could choreograph it to jiggle bells your on a winner i reckon ?
  9. good thing you replied i had forgotten all about it, only the website notifications reminded me lol, yep it is up just checked it out. personally i think you have too much white space, i think you need to covert that white space into anamorphic images or even cropped pics to approximate anamorphic proportions, sell them a pictorial story, give them some wow, you want to include them and take them on a journey not just what their options are . a realtor once told me when selling houses that your not selling sausages your selling the sizzle, if that any makes sense to you, just my 2 cents ? when i saw the bham for some odd reason i thought straight away of the flinstones, not sure how that works lol

this time of year $5 is about all thats left
  11. for posterity's sake here some measurements of the lenses and their housings the front lens comes in at 120 mm in its housing without the housing its 99 mm. the back lens with its housing comes in at 96 mm and i have yet to get it out of its housing but i'd expect the diameter to be nearly 20mm smaller. will find out how good my guess is tomorrow can anyone chime in with a comment about the thread diameter of their single focus solution ? i'm looking for something in the ballpark of just over a 100 mm i think or are these lenses still too big for the usual single focus solutions ?
  12. i'm happy to buy all types of stuff of ebay, including the important stuff like vintage camera lenses ? the downside is sometimes it can take awhile to arrive. but for electrical stuff i prefer to get that from a local store or from an aussie store online just for the added peace of mind knowing i can just take it back if there's an issue. i saved $120 off a gopro 6 buying from a mobile phone shop in western australia (the other side of the country ) rather than the local retail giant harvey norman. so it pays to shop around but if that had been an overseas company then i wouldn't have bought it as who knows if its a grey import or not. i know ebay has its own return policies and suchlike and i'm rather grateful i haven't had to use them yet, but its just so much nicer to deal with someone in person as telling someone you bought a lemon and your about ready to tear someones arm off doesn't have quite the same effect in an email ? by the way b& h sent me their winter catalog it arrived a week of so ago. i guess i spent enough there over the course of a year to warrant further optimistic expenditure. i do feel rather special if i went to jaycar to get a catalogue it would probably cost $7
  13. excellent thread, really impressive. i like the way you set up for testing with the individual legs for each lens, i think i will " borrow " that idea ?
  14. its not what you got but how you use it, as a case in point david killed goliath

great just in time for Xmas, i'm thinking what would make that really awesome is a two times stretch for added goodness
  16. found the lens wrench so more progress has been made disassembled the back lens element this required the lens wrench and a lever inserted between the lens wrench legs for additional leverage as this was not inclined to let go. once i got it loose. there is two rings one on top of the other the first was a mission to loosen the second was easier then the lens just lifts out. the front lens housing has a black metal surround that was a little tight to undo once that was off, had to take a moment to inspect it there was a thin metal cover, then underneath the lens seems to be stuck in with blutak gone hard. i mean it smells like blutak, looks like blutak so i'm calling it blutak. took a flat screwdriver to it , broke the seal all the way a round then just eased it out with my thumbs. only thing remains is to remove the back lens from its holder. thats a job for tomorrow one last pic of the lens disassembled
  17. two elton john songs are appropriate at this time, i'm still waiting, er i mean standing and i guess thats why they call it the blues,? what is it eight days to xmas ? my November early December is delivery is looking rather optimistic. i even have the samsung 1t t5 here ready to go not to mention a couple of lens adapters. just need a camera
  18. inspired by bolds thread on the b&h projector lenses i'm making a thread on the russian 35 nap series of lenses. these are big beasties indeed and quite heavy. my two cents worth of opinion is from my ebay searches these seem to be the cheapest anamorphic 2x stretch projector lens option at the moment the caveat being size, weight, make them unpopular choices i think and that front element size would make for a expensive not to mention massive single focus solution probably. however my curiosity knows no bounds except when it come to mains line voltages lol. so with out any further mucking around lets pull this beastie apart. the lens comes apart quite easily. the front cover i guess you would call has one small flat head screw in it then it just unscrews. i guess they didn't have locktite back then as none of the screws seem overly difficult to undo. the ring with the measurements on it has three small flat head screw which hold it on. once there undone the ring falls off and you can either unscrew the focus ring backwards till it comes off or screw it forward and it will drag the front element with it. i did it backwards first then struggled to get the front element out put the focus ring back on and screwed it forwards till they both fell off the front. im kinda stuck at this point as i cant find my lens wrench and i think i need it too undo the back element. there is 6 small flat screws positioned around the back element on the housing however undoing them doesn't free the back element. i was hoping that the back element might fall out if i tipped it upside down but no it doesn't. if you saw my desk you'd understand how a lens wrench could go missing ? thats it for the first installment hopefully i will have more to share soon.
  19. must be popular i get this message Bandwidth Limit Exceeded The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit. Please try again later i'll like buy one off ebay when i find one for a reasonable amount i seen em at $ 200 -400 but that will most likely be in the new year as i pretty much spent all i can this year lol speaking of modding, i have an isco gottengen 2x which requires both hands to turn the focus ring got any thoughts on how to loosen it up ? if it requires stripping it down to the helicoid or taking the anamorphics out i'm not so keen, heard they can be a pill to put back in right ? thanks for any thoughts edit: because i am tired and its after midnight here i pulled apart a russian 35 projector nap lens i bought around the same time i got the isco . it was surprisingly easy one tiny flat headed screw holding the font glass cover on then another three tiny flatheaded screws around the focus ring. then simply unscrew the focus ring backwards. i haven't taken the back lens out yet or the front element out of its holder. i will start a new thread tomorrow with some pics. but thanks for thee inspiration
  20. i hope i am understanding you correctly, if it were me and i couldn't find something to suit, i'd buy a long 1/4 screw and drill a hole in the end cap and epoxy most of it into the end of option 2 ? so long as you don't try swinging from the end of it you should be ok

you guys know its nearly 2019 right ? time to upgrade, get a drone i say ?
  22. technically its the only thingy so far, i took you literally, you should have been asking for an bmp4k update thingy then ?
  23. did you miss this ? https://www.eoshd.com/2018/11/the-blackmagic-pocket-cinema-camera-4k-unboxed-and-first-impressions-best-indie-raw-camera-yet/
  24. sorry that was my rather poor attempt at humor, i was being facetious. the smiley face at the end should have given it away. i already knew all that, you took me quite literally it seems.
  25. the p4k camera is in production there were a few units handed out to a few lucky people to play with, a few people on this forum have now received theirs. they seem happy enough, well their not screaming from the forum rooftops anyway.if the the black sun thing was still an issue i think we would of heard about it by now. the only thing i have heard about is non genuine batteries getting hot and jamming inside and sometime a loose battery door. there was some talk about the red channel clipping but that seems to have died down or there is a work around. each camera is unique, pick which features matter to you and buy it. dont know about the fuji or nikon or others dont really care either. webrunner raises some good points that i hadn't thought about although the batteries in the p4k dont last an hour either from what i have heard ?
