  1. its a fad, we'll get over it..... eventually but until then, and someone else more worthy comes along let the games continue ? personally when a bunch of people all notice the same thing and comment on it, well its hard to dismiss it. I don't have a sony camera, i do however have 3 sony tv's so i don't think i am a sony hater. Some people buy stuff based on previous experience, some buy stuff from clever marketing and some people, god forbid, actually do research . The issue i think is a few get carried away with the hype and with the anonymity on the net which lets people say things with scant regard for other peoples sensitivities. I am of the opinion of use what you got, make the most of it. Bashing other brands isnt any different from bullying kids at school, just proves you never matured as far as i am concerned.

been looking at a lens that i can leave on the camera, kinda sold on the olympus 15mm body cap lens. Ok their not leicas and they seem a little quirky if thats the right word. what intrigues me is that theres a few of these from taiwan at about half the price of new from, say japan, so i am wondering if you think theses are legit or not, just seems odd that they are alot cheaper than new from any other country https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Olympus-Body-Cap-Lens-15mm-F8-BCL-1580-white/323564607003?hash=item4b55f4161b:g:3wEAAOSwhyZbtzCd&frcectupt=true second hand lenses seem to go for about the same price as these new lenses from taiwan,, so i should probably buy a new one in theory

i have very specific size requirements, which is why i was interested in these particular ones from england. and the fact they were 2nd hand which should have made for a good deal. God save the queen and all, but im thinking it will be awhile before i buy from england again.

exchange rate... what exchange rate.... its pure extortion from this side of the ocean. bought some plastic folding crates from england sunday night for a project not sure how the postage jumped from 30 pounds to 50 pound after the sale finished but by the time currency was converted i owed $140 austrailan . not sure what happened. but i hadn't paid after twelve hours so they cancelled the order and told ebay that i had requested a cancellation, which isnt true. What is true is i didnt have the money till pay day but i was willing to pay as i did buy the items but wouldn't have been very happy. i thought you had 3 or 4 days to pay after an auction ? 12 hours seems abit short. i'll be visiting ebay shortly to see if i have negative feedback or something

i suspect you could throw a piece of broken glass in font of the bmp4k and the footage would still look good honestly between you and mercer and the others posting lens samples, i dont think anyone can go wrong with the glass thats available, be it vintage or new. Of course some glass will be better suited to some projects more so than others. To some extent i think its how you use or exploit those lens traits that will define a video and whether people find it filmic or not

Well i have been shopping online... bought an interesting (lens) which came to my attention while i was looking at something else and i'm bidding on another, the Olympus 15mm body cap lens. i watched some youtubes on it and it seems a little quirky perhaps but at least i'll always have a lens on the front till i find something else and its pretty cheap. btw kye this is all your fault bought and installed btm's app, had some teething issues with my oppo r11, however btm has since sorted me out and it now works. So if you have an oppo r11 it may prove helpful to turn on location services when you turn on bluetooth le. once your paired you can open the ctek app scan for your camera, when the camera is found you can highlight the camera and attempt to connect to it. you might get an error like i do, so wait a few moments and try to connect again.. i have to press the connect button a couple of times and then it will connect btx the fifth and last image is the first error message i was getting maybe it will help you with further trouble shooting
  9. if your happy enough with the fs5 and have invested in rigging it up or other accessories why not get an atomos ? Not sure of the cost difference between an atomos or a bmp4k is. I have seen on facebook bmp4k groups that more people are receiving their cameras but thats not to say you can just run down to the store to grab one yet. so it looks like bm are ramping things up. Took four months to get mine (actually it probably five months but i just dont want to think about it lol ). Personally i dont see a lot of sense in jumping ship if your going to lose a lot of money.

some sort of wide angle pancake type lens 24-28mm no wider than 35mm. That i can leave attached to the camera. Leaning towards mf never had auto focus before except with the kit lens on the 60d. with the crop factor to consider i'm not interested in going past 17.5mm or 35mm equivalency if that's the correct term as other lenses i have will cover that. i'm having a look on ebay at the moment to get some ideas and pricing

Hooked the samsung t5 up to the bmp4k and formatted it the other day, A bit of a side trip now installed Photoshop cs3 on the laptop yesterday and it seems that adobe no longer run servers to activate old versions which meant jumping through some hoops and getting a new key downloading and installing a new old version of cs3 inputting the key which it accepts, oddly it says 30 days left on trial, interesting to see what happens in a months time ? I think i am definitely in the market for a small or thin native lens to fit the bmp4k. Did a road trip today to the big smoke. Thought i'd stop at a couple of lookouts on the way tossed the camera and lens adapter in the bag and took off, got to the look out and found out i'd forgotten the actual lens Bummer

i have done a similar thing except i'm cheap and i don't drink (alcohol) i bought a bunch of different coloured bottles from some $2 shops. waiting for a nice offcut of black granite from work to make up a bench top for the man cave interesting story by the way.

i like this photo, that manhole has a lot of character. Here in aus we would probably just concrete or bitumen right up to the edge of whatever piece of flat steel was left lying around. However does look alot like entrapment with that leica left out in the open like that i like to think you have shown admirable restraint ?

hmm it seems the back thread is an unusual size.here is a photo, i think i should be looking for a 50mm thread. ebay lists 49mm or 52 mm but no 50 mm so i'm kinda looking at this clamp which has the convenient 52mm thread size https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ANAMORPHIC-LENS-CLAMP-KIT-KOWA-SANKOR-SINGER-ISCO/291040851278?hash=item43c362f54e:g:f1sAAOSwXeJYGhpm am i on the right track ?

thanks that was rather informative. i didn't know that the dof changed as well. maybe i half knew but didn't really connect the dots before now. buying a bmp4k with a different mount is certainly proving to be a learning experience ?

you guys will keep me broke ? happy to use the m42 lens i have accumulated, the only issue is the crop factor is a bit more severe than the 1.6 on a canon, i think must be close to 2 times. i am curious if i buy a m4/3 lens say a Voigtlander 17.5mm Nokton does it act like a 17.5 on m4/3 or does it become like a 35mm ? never mind i did a quick google and it seems that 17.5 comes out at 35mm so it seems the crop still applies even on m4/3 lenses. i had some irrational thought it would only apply to adapted lenses not native lenses. i guess my problem has been answered ? first i have to sort out the elmoscope and try it with some lenses i have already. any one know how wide you can go with a elmoscope type 1 2x anamorphic on m4/3 mount ? i presume i can go wider than full frame but not sure how much wider ? Voigtlander 17.5mm f0.95 Nokton MFT Lens - Integrated MFT Mount & Selective Aperture Control. • Focal Length: 17.5mm (translates into a standard 35mm in 35mm terms) • Angle of View: 47.3° • Apertures: f0.95 to f16 • Lens Construction: 13 Elements in 9 groups • Aperture Blades: 10 • Closest Focusing Distance: 0.15m • Diameter: 63.4mm Length: 80mm Weight: 540g • Filter Size: 58mm • Colour: Black • Mount: Micro Four Thirds • Hood: Included

the jury has decided, however its a 2 pocket job one for the p4k the other pocket for the lens. but thats bare bones had to take the quick release base plate and the lens off
  23. i thought i would chronicle my adventures with a black magic p4k. also i didn't want to pollute the other bmp4k threads any further. so here we are, had the camera 3 days now first afternoon unboxed it, inserted the battery tried to charge it only to find it was already charged. obviously bm expect us to be frothing at the mouth in anticipation and they be right, quite considerate of them really when you think about it :). probably half discharged it by turning it on and pressing every button repeatably in the name of science and to see what would happen and yes, not exactly scientific i know but it is one way to learn. did take some footage of some sheep being fed, again as a learning experience and yes i learned i have a lot to learn. first thoughts well there's been some talk around the lightness of the p4k and to be honest picking up the box it was transported in did feel quite light after unboxing and putting a lens on it er.. a m42 50mm super takurmar, holding it and a canon 60d with a lens in it in the other hand there wasn't much difference nothing noteworthy anyway. the next day got a chance to take it for a drive visited a local soldiers memorial that's just been built. as quite a lot of locals went off to war. those that came back and others were settled around stanthorpe. i'm kinda thinking of making it a documentry with the p4k as i think there's abit of a story to it. but that's another story. had no issues with the battery door or battery sticking yet. my battery compartment has a nice amount of wiggle room. speaking of batteries the bm battery doesn't seem to charge up in a canon charger as its the same battery as my canon 60d. i think i have seen somewhere on the forum that thats already known. i did just check my canon 60d battery compartment there is a lot more wiggle room compared to the p4k. more scientific endeavors follow i learned a cheap $30 toshiba 32 gb sd card from woolworths will record with prores 422 1080 hd for about 5 mins, hey it was something i had lying around. i do have a samsung 1t t5 ssd for it but i dont have much of a rig for it yet and i didn't want to duct tape it to the p4k. one more thing i learned at the soldier monument the aussie sun smashes the screen, its hard to see even at 5 pm in the afternoon. so i'm thinking some sort of hood will be pretty high on the agenda. i'm not saying the screen is bad, just that the sun easily overpowers it. ok thats about it for, now next is play time with resolve, stay tuned for more updates on a newbies appreciation off what a steep learning curve looks like with the bmp4k
  24. ok so i been thinking... i see a lot of anamorphic projector lenses for sale on ebay. it makes me wonder why there isn't a similar amount of anamorphic cameras lenses for sale ? the ratios seem really one sided, is it just me ? or weren't there as many people shooting anamorphic everyone was just watching perhaps? my elmoscope was made for 8mm or 16mm projection seems odd to me there isn't a 8mm or 16mm camera lens out there to match it
