  1. Superfine can be enabled by using the phone in "pro mode" with 4k, which stays enabled on the osmo pocket even standalone, until exited. I didn't expect it to be any better than a mavic air in low light, I am just saying, every video I see is someone saying how amazing it is in low light. It is funny.
  2. I am confused as to why I keep seeing people say this has excellent low light performance. There seems to be tons of noise when shooting indoors. It also drops the resolution shooting in lower light.
  3. Ok, I found something important: Saw a video where a guy compared the "fine" & "superfine" modes. The bitrate is supposedly the same, superfine just adds in digital sharpening.
  4. Get the filmic pro app for your iPhone. You can shoot in high bit rate log
  5. I honestly am surprised that we havent seen a series of pre-programmed drones (no radio control) carrying a payload, fly low & pop up into a stadium or something and cause massive damage. Once something like that happens, it wont be on a consumer drone & ALL drone parts will be illegal in many countries. DJI knows this & they are pushing other products harder now. Update: this actually aligns with what I had thought about all this, written a few months ago. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/drone-attacks-are-essentially-terrorism-by-joystick/2018/08/05/f93ec18a-98d5-11e8-843b-36e177f3081c_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.b4c090e61c0d
  6. "Mr Turner said regulations around drones were not tight enough and blamed Chris Grayling for failing to act. He told the BBC: “There should be wider exclusion zones around airports - I think the law says one kilometre at the moment, it should probably be five kilometres according to the experts." Sounds just like gun control debates. "Should have been a wider exclusion zone", yeah.. that would have stopped this person, not. It's always the law abiding citizens that suffer from over regulation/controls. UK is going to be hammered much further on drone laws & fast, feel bad for you.
  7. No way that isnt a false flag deal to get stricter drone laws. I saw more news on it & I highly doubt it was just some random people with tons of drones flying to an airport. Dji specifically has tools given to authorities that allow them to track your flight in real time through geofencing. They will know where it took off, current location & where it lands. Probably also your account information.
  8. That reminds me of a time I saw someone on the forums, that had no freaking idea what he was doing and bought around $20,000 in cinema gear. He just shot 8 bit handheld in auto modes and threw a horrible free orange and teal lut on his footage. Then posted every day asking how to improve. I believe he had no intention to do it professionally and was not extremely wealthy, so it was a head scratcher for me. I hope someone pointed him to resources to study up on, but if I remember right, he was too lazy to do it. I had never seen footage from that camera look so bad. There seem to be many people who come from the cell phone spec fetish realm, that get into video & they just shoot stuff on auto. I can't stand most of the youtube reviews on products, I know it's probably shot at 30p, 1/6000th shutter, F11 with +20 sharpening and a free lut added + template whip transitions. Like you say, it does a disservice to the product.
  9. You do know that processors get smaller and more efficient every year right? I didn't know this was a greenpeace board, seems to be getting off topic haha. It's not like I am using that gas powered video camera anymore ?
  10. That computing power is going to come regardless of 8k's existence. Quantum computing is mind blowing.
  11. If you look at how long it took for the 4k stuff to start catching on, it was 9 years from 1080p. I bought an LG 65" 4k HDR OLED in 2016 thinking I had waited nearly long enough to have a wave of 4k content soon. I am still waiting; no video stores to rent 4k videos & redbox doesn't have them. It makes no sense to buy 4k movies at $30 a pop to watch twice in your life. Amazon is still hosting everything in 1080p with only a couple movies in 4k. Netflix only has about a dozen movies in 4k that aren't their own original junk. The streaming 4k is such low bit rate compressed stuff, that I compared the dark knight on 1080p blu ray to the streaming 4k version, it honestly looked better on the blu ray somehow. The h.265 codec will take some major leaps in CPU/GPU processing power to be workable in even large 10 bit 4k projects. It isn't nice on expensive rigs today. I just look forward to having more accessible 4k HDR when 8k comes out. In the U.S., you still are getting 720p broadcast from cable and satellite, Japan doing 8k live tv shows how little competition there is here. Do any of you even really care about 8k, aside from pushing better codecs and supersampling 4k? I feel like there are massive diminishing returns; I can see 8k being useful for zooming in & post production movements/3D effects. I would rather have 4k raw in a hybrid than 8k.
  12. I wonder if this thing can take some light moisture if I tape up the sd slot, bottom usb c & the mic holes. I am going to mount it to the front of a snowmobile, will be a cool perspective to just see the ski's & not have the gopro fisheye look. I will say, I think a g7x ii is better for pretty much everything that people use this for & looks stable enough, but this stupid little thing is fun to film with.
  13. My cousin is a senior manager at adobe & I still couldn't get him to fix one small bug in premiere. Adobe will do whatever it wants, at least they did add some features to premiere finally (color)
  14. Repeat the same words/versus over & over seems to be key ?
  15. I dont have around 6 hours to waste testing it lol. It does seem to reduce the run time by about 25-30min when using my phone with the device.
  16. I once saw a guy in a suit that had a small tommy hilfiger logo on it; that let us know he spent less than us on his suit.
  17. Poor reading comprehension? That is how long it took to discharge 1% of the battery "Based on how long it took to drain 1% battery Time is in minutes: Iphone 6: 1:41 S8+: 1:36 Standalone: 1:58"
  18. I had a 15" 2018 MBP maxed out and it would die with my mavic air h.264 footage.
  19. I did a controlled test with connecting it to an iphone 6, S8+ and standalone for battery life. Based on how long it took to drain 1% battery Time is in minutes: Iphone 6: 1:41 S8+: 1:36 Standalone: 1:58 This test was done at idle, no recording was done. Iphone 6 showed that it was charging from the osmo pocket when first connected, but then displayed that it wasn't shortly after. The S8+ shows at all times that it is charging from the pocket. 5% difference between iphone & android for power draw at idle. 22% difference between using android or solo.
  20. Haha you started listing them off! I just helped finish the list lol. There are a bunch for every brand, I dont think we will ever find a perfect camera.
  21. Dang it, I forgot one important one! The battery compartment not being weather sealed ?
  22. Rumor has it they prototyped the pocket with a 1" sensor, but in testing they found that it looked like someone had a chubby in their pocket. So they went with the smaller sensor in the end.
  23. You forgot: bad ergos, menus, low bit rate, over sharpened at 0 setting, small lens mount, poor skintones, jumpy AF, expensive lenses, playmemories app no longer allows timelapses. Did I miss anything? Haha, the a7siii is going to wreck everything no doubt, might as well get my last laugh in now.
