  1. David, This is super helpful and yet more inspiring. Keep the great work and wishing you more success in your future work. BTW, I'll try to watch Black Luck on Amazon Prime. I also love the subject of the hitman and wanted to make something about this character in Central/Eastern Europe. Mostly to add an exotic element to it, but also it's an area I've go to travel a lot in the past few years and made a few contacts and I just think cinematically it could look great. I read some of the review comments on Amazon Prime on Black Luck. Mostly around hitman being a cliche topic. Which is what I'm struggling with right now. How to approach it in a new way. Some of your reviewers said you approached the storytelling in a new way, so I'm looking forward to see if I can pick something up from how you did it. Cheers, Salim
  2. This is very expected. I predicted this and people said I was wrong. The problem is Blade Runner was never a major brand like Star Wars or like Batman, etc. It's a cult movie. Ryan as a star has some following, but he is at best has a cult following and his female followers from La La Land are not going to rush to see a sci-fi movie. However, there is a good chance of a secondary bump via social media etc. If the movie is as good as people say, we'll see social media influence in pushing it up.
  3. Congrats!!! This is very inspiring and thank you for posting. I'm curious if you could share some of your experiences hustling to make the movie, getting into film festivals and finally getting distribution. Anything that you can share would be highly appreciated. Also, does a distribution deal make enough money to justify making a movie?
  4. This is very cool! But I don't think you need to do it this way. I would almost approach it like photographing lighting. I would shoot in bulb mode with rear curtain flash. Keep the camera open just before the shot. Let the person shoot and the close the camera to trigger the flash.
  5. There is a comparison near the end of this video:
  6. Awesome! This is very helpful. I was under the impression there was incremental updates that have steadily made improvements.
  7. How are you using C/Y 28-85? I have a mint one. That I bought when I was hoarding Zeiss lenses. Have been meaning to sell it. But seeing your comment, I wanted to learn more how you are using it and liking it. I might just keep it, then.
  8. I'm very interested in this thread. I'm finding it educational (aside from the OT DR argument ) and using it to make decision on by buying a used 5Diii What would make this thread far better if there was regular milestone updates. Example: ML release x.xx now you can do live view low frame rate. Issues: AF is not working, over heating, etc. Cards that you can use: etc. etc. etc. @Andrew Reid thoughts?
  9. @IronFilm - didn't know about this camera and just read some of the reviews. Thanks for the post! Have you used it? how does its colors compare to Canon? Can you easily color match as a B camera?
  10. as a newbie to video (and a long-time photographer) I've been following many sites and been reading through them. Cinema5D's material are not that useful and declining'. 1 - there is very little depth to their posts. It's basically content marketing. 2 - there is very little reviews of products for the enthusiast (as @Andrew Reid said). for an enthusiasts I find far better stuff on youtube by: DSLR Video shooter: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMmA0XxraDP7ZVbv4eY3Omg Max Yurevy: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIgQksZ_4IvQ_VAqBWW81bg iphoneDO: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvkODZ-I4tsdP2Qopov0jrA just as a few examples.
  11. The camera specs are nothing better than the DJI Phantom 4 pro. At this stage, P4P is a much safer bet.

Nice! I wish you had included a photo of your setup as well...or a BTS clip showing us you're handing it.
  13. I think Nikon has already hinted at a mirrorless camera and promising it will be a category killer. But the current UI of D810 is very good (far better than my Sony a6000). With the consumer market, the mobile phones are just destroying it. I think for that reason Nikon and others have to go after prosumers and pros. Probably why Fuji had to expand into MF line. The other thing I wish nikon will focus on, while doing their mirrorless is to provide IBIS. The stuff I'm hearing people are doing with the 5-axis stabilization out of Olympus is crazy and make the ergonomics of not having to think about a tripod more enticing.
  14. Nikon D850 press release is leaked: https://nikonrumors.com/2017/08/22/nikon-d850-press-release-leaked.aspx/ looks like 4K (only UHD) but with no crop factor. Official press release is in 30 hours and we can learn more about its video capabilities.
  15. "perspective" is only function of distance. You probably getting the same perspective as a 55 on a 35FF camera.
  16. You got some great advice from OliKMIA. I would say...you probably need to go up $1000 more and invest into a M600 system. The new one has a few failsafe additions that helps to ensure you would not lose your done. I've spoken to a professional shooter and he loves flying the M600 and tells me it's the best bird he has. That said, M600 or even S1000 are very big and take a lot of space. Then you might want an extra set of batteries, etc. and the weight and room required just grows. The inspire can handle high res aerial still photography. You can almost stitch anything that is not moving and get 50-100 mp images. Low light video is a different story. One last thing, flying any big drone, especially when shooting video requires two people. One pilot and one shooter or you most likely crash into something. Also, if you have not flown a drone before. I'd suggest starting with a used phantom 4 (they are very cheap now).
