I just found a place in Holland where you pay 100e deposit and they'll send monthly updates on progress (so they say). Deliver to your house same day they come into stock and the best part is you can cancel the order and get the deposit back at any time between now and release. I normally don't pre-order stuff, but there's literally no reason not to here. The guy said he's got a meeting with BM Europe tomorrow, and will call me with more info on when to expect the delivery. I'll be sure to post here if there's anything worth mentioning.

What about using the WD Passport pro thing as a charger / recording media? Seems like the perfect device for just that.

BM should look into making the HDMI an input too, so you can put one on top of the other to film those selfie shots people are so worried about. It would also double as a ProRes recorder for any other camera, putting Atomos out of business as well haha!

Am I wrong thinking the BM windows at 120fps, but not 100fps? If so, that's great for PAL land :D

I thought it was h264 or h265 depending on your settings at the time of recording. Still... not raw or ProRes.

Blackmagic's website hosts the most airbrushed, processed set of images I've ever seen. I always chuckle when I go on there... Which is sure to be a lot more often between now and September.

Yeah but with 20% tax - in NL we're at 21% so it messes with my reports and could open up some holes which I simply can't be bothered to deal with. I'd rather just wait a day or two for a store here to open preorders if need be.

Yeah, I mean declaring my tax at te end of the year. It's easier to just pay in euros to start with and not worry about conversions and different tax rates.

BM looks a little wider, but a lot shorter then. Since it doesn't have the VF bump. Makes sense, I would have thought it has a wider screen due to being a video focused camera. Photo cams tend to have a more squared LCD

Does anyone have a photo of a GH5 with that lens for a handy size comparison?

I don't think any part of it is detachable aside from the lens. I assume that's just lines in design. The battery and storage more than likely goes inside the grip, so what's the use in taking it off?

I quite like the design. Kind of retro, and it reminds me of the Panasonic DVX100, which I really loved back in the days of DV tapes.

I'm aware of BMs track record with announcing a camera and then shipping it. But what are people's estimations on the release of this one? Will it be available to order within a week, month or year. Place your bets!

Is anyone talking about internal Prores Raw for this? At least in a future upgrade. That would be incredible.

Don't buy what? I've said a few times that I'm not looking to buy anything, but thought there was an interesting (or not) comparison to be made.

I never said it was the best thing to show up to a shoot with, only that it can work. I know it's cheap, it looks cheap and feels cheap, but in my experience it does the job. I'd rather use it than not. I'm still unclear why a BMPC won't work on it. It's seems like you guys simply wouldnt want to use, which is fine, but then say so and don't present it as facts.

Alright, I obviously read it all wrong, my bad. I still don't think that's a statement of fact though. Can you explain why it wouldn't work? as I said before, I used that exact plastic rig with an FS5 yesterday, all day and it worked perfectly, so I'm struggling to see why a smaller, lighter camera won't work.

I have, both filming the exact same thing. As per B&H, the BM is larger, but it's far from comparing a GH5 to an FS5. BMPC - 6.53 x 4.45 x 4.96" - 3.75 lb GH5 - 5.5 x 3.9 x 3.4" - 1.59 lb Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but there is a lot of hostility around something I thought could be an interesting comparison. I am reading and understanding comments, and trying to argue points that might have been overlooked like the fact that you have to have external audio on the BM... You also do on the GH if you want to use it. Thanks again everyone for contributing.
