Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p

Sorry if it was posted before : -
Well, officially, they never said anything would be released on the 3rd. B&H said that, and removed it when people noticed. That said, I believe BM would know by now whether they're still releasing in September or not.
-
I disagree, the flat look works with the story and enhances the mood. Nice one! Will you post the full movie, or are you submitting it somewhere?
-
Well, the distortion and vignetting is on the edge of the frame, but if you cropping the edge of the frame out anyway, and using only the middle of the sense, it doesn't matter if you have vignetting. the 8mm fisheye was made for APS-C cameras, so there won't be any vignetting on an MFT camera anyway I would test when the camera arrives, but I sold the lens a while ago.
-
I've not shot much slow motion, but when I have the cameras have cropped in on the sensor to achieve 120fps. When I did it, I had a speed booster with Canon's 10-18mm, so that did the job. I've also used the Samyang 8mm fisheye with a dumb adaptor. As you can see in the image below, the crop bypasses most if not all the distortion.
-
Yes, but that answer, to me, implies that HD has a 2x crop of the MFT sensor, and 4x crop compared to a full frame sensor.
-
I really hope the answer refers to shooting 120fps. I was under the impression normal 1080p (up to 60p) was no sensor crop, so 1.9x 'relative to Full Frame 35mm'
-
Surely 1.2x crop then?

With September just two weeks away, I would have thought they'd know by now if they need to delay. We're still waiting on footage, but I think keeping the exact date a mystery ensures people will continue to look and search, maintaining the interested and excitement the camera has built up since April. I'm feeling pretty optimistic about receiving this camera within the next 6 weeks.

I would 100% go with a better codec. For the most part, as long as you're in focus, everything else can be fixed in post with the proper codecs. Aside from that, seeing a hunting AF in a video drives me crazy, and is big enough reason for me to never even turn AF on. If you slip out of focus manually, it can look stylish and add to the image. If AF goes out, it looks terrible. If you're making a short film, AF is even less important as I assume the actors will have fixed paths while they're moving, so you can practice pulling focus.

But - The Samsung T5 is a lot cheaper than that and has the memory built in... Unless you're looking for a way to avoid using the USB port I guess... That said a could 128gb CFast cards are around the same price as that option. Or better yet 1 256gb card is actually cheaper than going down the route of Cfast - SSD. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Delkin-Cinema-CFast-Memory-Card/dp/B01H5C79AE/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1534396663&sr=1-1&keywords=cfast+256gb Also, what if the camera needs the card door to be closed? It's a possibility.

Isn't C Mount limited to those small 25mm though? I have an old Sony 12.5 - 75mm 1.8 c-mount and on my GX80 it's full circle of vignette throughout the whole range even at 1.8,. Granted it's a physically long lens, but I don't imagine any other cameras cropping enough to cut out the black circle around the image. These are quick frame grabs at 12.5 (first) and 75 (second):

FYI, There's a bluetooth app to control the camera, but no liveview or focusing options. They are open to people developing their own apps though, so maybe that's something we'll see in the future ( @BTM_Pix ?)

Well, that's already been answered a while ago. it'll be 1.9x crop. I was just pointing out that they've been doing some testing with the non-camera-specific speedboosters, hich is promising... will likely save Metabones from making a new one specially, and current owners having to buy new ones to fit. Win win.
-
While you guys are arguing over nothing again - BM seem to still have some tests to do. I guess that since the 0.64x Speedbooster works, it's fairly reasonable to assume the 0.71x will as well right? Of course real test would be better, but to me this kind of sounds like if the left shoe fits, the right one will too. Can anyone correct me if I'm wrong? EDIT: A major retailer in Holland just opened up the ability to pay 100% for this camera. To me that says they're pretty confident that they can deliver when expected (sometime in September) - But I'm failing to see the advantage of paying in full now and preordering... maybe it bumps up the queue.
-
I thought that might be the case, but as the saying goes - if you don't ask, you don't know. Thanks again!
-
Since we have an insider here, are you able to provide us with some real, new info? Is there a plan for any sample footage to be released soon? Is September still a realistic estimate? Is that global or just a handful of stores to meet the suggested release time? Of course, I (and I assume the rest of us) understand if you're unable to provide any more information. The silence is deafening.

Don't Netflix require Raw for their original shows and movies? Or am I thinking of log?
-
Sorry for posting the same video again, but..... @John Brawley what are your thoughts on this hypothesis? (using ISOs lower than the native for 'cleaner' images)

Not arguing, just thought it was funny. Not sure if you noticed, but BMD have stated that this camera will come with 1 battery in the box. The above quote kinda sounds like you're saying that it doesn't come with any battery, so wanted to clarify. Sure one won't last too long, but LPE6 batteries are so cheap. If you don't already have any they're like €30 for 2 and a charger. Or like said, you could go the external power route at a later date. My point is, you can use the camera out of the box. I'm fairly confident that even the 95mbps Sandisk cards will be able to handle LT and maybe even 422 at 25/30p. I'd say most of us here have those cards or something similar, so can shoot on the very first day the camera arrives without having to buy anything extra. To me it seems perfect for that, in fact, that's almost exactly what I intend to use this camera for, as well as live music performance - not concerts, but performed specifically for the camera - The only reason it won't be fantastic in a documentary situation is the battery, but as discussed, there's easy ways around that. And IS, but that depends on your style of shooting and style of doc. For me, it won't be a problem.

And lenses And sound And all the other stuff that also applies to every other camera out there. ?
-
Why not fisheye? The crop will crop out most of the distortion. Sure it will look a little different to a linear wide angle, but not too much. Edit: This is a from a clip I shot with a JVC LS300 testing the 120fps mode. I'm not sure of the crop factor in that setting, but the lens is a EF mount Samyang 8mm fisheye with a dumb adaptor (not speedbooster) As you can see, there's no distortion at all. ------ @IronFilm The windowed HD on the P4K is only in the 120fps mode.

That's great, thanks! One thing I would note though, about that Tascam recorder is that there's no Phantom power, which can be limiting, depending on what kind of mics you're wanting to use. A great alternative is the Saramonic VRM1. It's perfect for those short films with no crew, as since most shotguns need power (although some do have their own batteries) you can stick an NTG on it, power the mic through the recorder and bam, essentially you have wireless boom. https://www.saramonicusa.com/products/sr-vrm1
