I forget that in the world of cameras there are pixel peepers and in the world of forums, there are word wizards and sentence surveyors. Whoever feels some type of way about my comment is reading way too much into it. Matter of fact I agree with the majority, surprisingly that wasn’t read into, that you don’t need 8 bit, but once again for my needs it just doesn’t cut it. Regarding the Xh1 it’s great that it has DCI 4k!
-
No disrespect to those who prefer using 8 bit because I have a few 8 bit tools myself, but as an individual with goals to have any future media I create on broadcast networks, I will adhere to their standards. Now for any personal projects or for vlogging, then I’ll consider something within these specifications. “Experts” on YouTube can run their tests, which are cool, but the fact remains these aren’t the requirements for any serious and aspiring professional in this industry. Sure there are the few talented souls that are making a living with modest setups and that’s inspiring, but that’s not the normal thing. These are my opinions based on the facts of the matter. If this offends you, that is your own creation because my intent was not to disrespect or belittle anyone. I came to express a thought that is based on facts about 8 bits vs 10 bits. Regarding the Fuji XH1 it’ll be an awesome tool for stills, however regardless of their advances for video, this camera just won’t cut it ‘for me’.
-
The same reason why creators and broadcasters prefer 10 bit is the reason why I won’t purchase this and yes I’m genuinely interested with this camera. This “shit posting” is an opinion of mine that I’m expressing. The camera is impressive but that’s my perspective of things.

The xh1 is the first time I’ve ever considered buying a Fuji, but because it’s only 8bit I won’t get it. Everything for video is pretty awesome, especially the Eterna film simulation, however that 8 bit codec is just not persuasive.
-
It’s important to me because as much as I want to, I’m not purchasing the new Fuji xh1 just because it’s 8 but.
-
Hey I didn’t shoot that, but it’s a good recent video. @Kisaha they didn’t market it as a cinema camera, but the cinema part came from them stating this fact through trade shows and industry events.

https://youtu.be/pwitCxD82WI it has been holding up well with a pretty strong user base and I am hoping that jvc has another firmware update or even another cinema camera coming.

Footage looks great to me!

I disagree with you with the JVC Gyls300 not being a "Cine"camera. It has all the specs of one, the image quality is comparable to what's out there. Here's a couple of examples. Not the best footage for either the Varicam or the LS300, but as you can see with the lighting used here, the IQ is eerily similar. The only thing lacking on the JVC is the 8 bit codec.
-
I was just thinking that about the Ls300, with raw 2k! That ish would be awesome!!! Yet most wouldn't care, what a shame. The JvCgyls300 is an awesome cinema camera able to produce great footage. Anyways the EVA looks like the clear winner to me when it comes to the C200. The sensor is based off of the Varicam, plus its 5.7k resolution???!!! Do you realize what can be achieved with this? Have you seen recent Varicam LT footage??? It looks remarkable! The Netflix series Master of None, Frontier, Love and a couple more shows are shot with a Varicam. I'll be getting this and have my JVC doing B roll. I was just thinking that about the Ls300, with raw 2k! That ish would be awesome!!! Yet most wouldn't care, what a shame. @Fritz Pierre I agree. I was going to purchase but I felt like there would be an issue with communication because they didn't have any reliable state side support. The image looks pretty though. Did you look into the Cion?
-
Speaking of competition what about AJA Cion and Kinefinity Terra?? They have RAW and at a good price too.

Time to dump Adobe. First impressions of Resolve 14 and EditReady 2.0

When I try to use the other programs I just can't get into it and it bothers me because I can just about jump into any DAW, but for the NLE's, Vegas just fits. -

Wow I seem like the "weirdo" here because I enjoy using Magix Vegas Pro 14 and not one person brought up how robust and easy this program is. DR is too complicated for me, Adobe's subscription service is garbage and FCP looks good , but I'm strictly a PC user. -
Canon C200 and Panasonic rival camera to fight it out at CineGear Expo

Definitely agree the JVC-GYLS300 is already a viable option. I really don't understand the lack of interest for this camera. -
I installed the mega app and downloaded but nothing was there. Maybe there's and issue? Thanks for sharing though.

Is it possible to see some video or this just a still?
-
lol that's a good one lol Ok thanks I'll try that dragging thing.
-
Yea very sweet footage. I like how you use JLog. Hey how do you post the video and pictures in this forum? Every time I try I only place he links.

Something that is interesting. I think I prefer the cinema gamma in this clip. The 709 gamma isn't that bad. https://youtu.be/I-dEOQie2XI

I think JVC has the potential to change the game for the mid priced market if they do it right. Currently they are big in the ENG field, which is their bread and butter, but with the release of their GYLS300 they have brought to market an affordable "enthusiasts" cinema camera. So just like Sony, in the beginning they weren't taking serious, now look at them now.

Lol. I believe it is May 29th this year. This month!

I was searching the various forums on the web and came up with this video. It's an interview with Craig Yanagi from JVC and in it he talks about the new cameras. It's not a detailed description, but is still interesting. https://youtu.be/-4xtVRgi8Ng
