  1. Lol....No thank you, i will not be using that POS. Premiere is way better suited for team work. As for its timeline..... I grant you there was an extra 0 at the 400mbps bit, but as I wrote I neither shoot long gop or at 200 mbps so what is the need for this "direct quote"? My original assertion stands. You need an external gpu for serious work and transcoding with a mac mini.... Timeline stuttering and ludicrous export times is all you can expect

    Fuji X-T4

Will the X-t3 get any of these modes? I presume since the sensor is almost the same and the cpu should be the same (very expensive to produce a brand new one) some of these modes could be passed to the X-T3.
  3. Just to make it clear, I am talking about h265 4000mbps All intra files, which stutter. I never use long gop/200 mbps so cannot comment on that
  4. New model MAC mini i7 64 gb ram. Premiere will do it with stuttering, resolve a bit better. Mac's are worthless for this kind of work.. You would need an external gpu case _ gpu i for macs in order to edit with ease. Or convert the h265 to prores that works great for editing.
  5. Hi guys, I am thinking of getting an Atomos Shinobi for use with my X-T3. I do not need external recording. Has anybody used this combination or the Shinobi at least and can comment on it? I also had a look at a SWIT CM-55 C for a cheaper option but was not that happy with its build quality/interface
  6. Apart from citing worthless wikipedia grade stuff which do not really concern this forum and reams of your "professional" sob story how about stop attacking people? You have already done it thrice now and back-pedalled twice in this thread.. Instead of having a discussion of the a6500, you are constantly polluting this thread and some others with fantasy stories that seem to be a cross between Gulliver's travels and drunk on retsina stories, blaming everybody and everything for a tough market. It is tough for everybody, you have a huge holiday market, find ways to tap it. If you are not good with the business side of things try to educate yourself in that regard... I will nevertheless give you a slight pass on that one since your countrymen have voted for a communist government with some real hardcore stalinists in power.. Such idiots are not conducive to free enterprise .. Nevertheless this detracts from the original purpose of this thread. Citing cherry picked links with irrelevant facts to 8-bit s-log derived footage from an a6500 and its suitability to grade, manifests a huge chasm in understanding the purpose in replying relevantly to a thread.. And therein lies the true problem, where you believe that whoever disagrees with you is clueless, and should be educated by you ,while you are not too busy fighting off imaginary destitute doctors moonlighting with Alexa's and Cooke lenses trying to steal the share of "your" video market...
  7. Kisaha you are taking these fine people through a fairy ride.... You sound like you are the only film maker having trouble making ends meet and taking care of the business end of things.. Everybody is after you and your job while all the sony's you have used were made out of chocolate...... Olivier was kind enough to share some stills and some technical details about what he shot and base his opinions on that.. Tone down the histrionics , most of us are here to share and learn from our betters, not insult everybody in sight while blaming everybody including the local butcher, the milkmaid, the security forces and the men in black for loss of income....
  8. Chipzilla will soon put AMD in its place... Yes they are arrogant and full of avarice but IT pros would never bet on a non-Intel platform and I suggest that fellow EosHDers looking to build a sweet premiere system should wait until Intel's response.
  9. Cinema5d took down its gh5 review? At last, they did something decent for the community.... On another note "wolfcrow" has a great video on youtube talking about the GH5, 10-bit and the release codec.. His conclusions make much sense
  10. Hi, I thought we were talking about £800 wedding packages not 5000 euro ones. Even then I hardly think that they do need so much time in post no matter what they say. I do think that both photographers and videographers ,with the former being the main culprits ,are very out of touch with what their output really costs. Doing two working days work for 2500-5000 euros is quite a lot of money. If it wasn't for the sentimental value that photographers/videographers take advantage of , the cost would be way down. Nobody employs a photographer for a friday night pissup with their mates since alcohol will provide them with all the sentiment they need.. Sure you can spend too much time in trying to nail something that will definitely not be noticed by non experts. Brides like the shallow DOF, colour me like a princess look.. It can mostly be achieved by the right light gear off the camera rather than tons of post processing. Photographers are much lazier in setting up favourable lighting since they have so much latitude in post and if push comes to shove nobody looks bad in B&W . The layman in the street cannot begin to fathom the amount of lighting required to shoot proper video. You are very correct in saying that we should always work with people that you can learn from and never stop the process of learning. That is a great attitude!
  11. No.. You process one and then mass copy the settings you chose for the next 50 you took in the same place with the same light conditions. (a little tweaking may be in order but not that much) Photographers are lazier compared to videographers. The end photographic result is a product of sentimental value that will not be dissected technically by professionals or people measurbating about pixels ..
  12. Camera Store TV ahead of the curve as always
  13. Resolve is a one way street when dealing with Raw.. And its colour tools are much better than Premiere's in my humble opinion.. Resolve is made by Blackmagic to actually digest the footage its cameras produce... Granted its is not as easy to use as premiere yet, and the learning curve is a bit steep I share your agony in getting this footage but hopefully everything will be ok .As long as the bride looks great , windows with blown highlights etc are of no consequence or use..
  14. This guessing game is getting boring. Out with the truth!!! P.S Why do people still upload and pay for vimeo... It can't stream to save its life and I dispute that the end result is better than YT.. Even if we had a little better colours here and there ,chopy videos are not going to win any favours..
  15. @Arikhan Statistics are a difficult beast , your methodology, or better lack of it, is not going to provide statistically significant results to support your hypothesis. I am writing this with the best intentions . I like that you discerned amongst age groups though. Regards,
  16. With the gh5 and the new Sonys that are bound to appear BMD cannot afford to stand still, nor we want them to... Software for a camera is an evolving process
  17. I do not think it is that simple. Blackmagic co-developed with another company its 4.6K sensor for a reason. There is a big chain from the photon hitting the top of sensor to the end result we get as a usuable file. Even then the pointy, full of glass, bit plays a big role as well...
  18. I totally forgot about the sony apps LOL. Yes that is useful.. I took some photos today in a snowy environment (started snowing heavily in my area of the woods). WB set to auto.. I swear that skin tones look much more realistic and authentic out of the raw file than any photos that I have taken before.. I cannot possible attribute that or be sure that I am correct in my assertion.. I personally don't like overly warm colours but Sony is still not there with the other big two colour-wise.
  19. Yes but does the python5000 have that cinematic feel that makes BM unique??
  20. " f we're talking video, it's important that the user uses a camera with a workflow suited to the user, not according to camera specs. In this case it sounds like the user is not too well versed with color correcting / grading, and hence Nikon/Canon which are known for having good colors straight out of the camera should be a great alternative. Rather than having to work with LUTs and colour grading in post for a good result which the Sonys have been known for. Maybe the modern A6300 and A6500 are better and have suitable colour profiles that this specific user would be happy with, maybe not. They won't be the same out of the box as what the user is used to at least." Let's make another point here.. at this price range, Sony gives you the ability of slog , canon and nikon will not... You can use picture profiles in the a6300 as well of course and Andrew's PP are quite good but she is going to very tempted to play around with colouring /slight grading and you can do that efficiently either shooting with a log or a toned down, flat profile.. Resolve is very capable in its free edition and has very nice colour tools. Since his mum is a an accomplished photographer and knows her way around handling photo raw's she will certainly be able to handle some wb corrections and some basic colouring at leat. It is of course her preference to do this or shoot to a picture profile but the capability is there.. Sony handles colours differently than Canonikon but at least in raw photographs you can get the warm Canon look if you want . Jpeg's not so.
  21. It has to do with glass as well. Pop in a good manual lens or a Zeiss lens and you will see the image pop. There is of course a difference in how colour is handled but Sony is not miles away, although behind when it comes to skin tones. Sony handles yellow very well on the other hand. In any case we are talking video here which both canon and nikon do half-heartedly.
  22. Having had both Canons and Sony's I can say unequivocally that Sony colour science is not that great out of the box compared to the competition. But and it is a huge but, its raw files have great latitude in doing whatever you want. If you want a canon profile in your photographs you will get it through raw.If you want something else there is the latitude there to make it happen.. As you said colouring is also an artistic expression for those of us that cannot paint using a brush.. Bear in mind that most Canon obsessed guys and gals in photography sites are rather an older part of the population and a bit set in their ways and adopting newer, different systems. It all depends on the mindset of a person of course and not his age.The soft, full frame shallow dof Canon look that was used to make brides look more beautiful has hopefully had its time as far as video is concerned At her price range sony is king there and canon is not even a contender .. She can use manual lenses from canon, nikon, konica etc aplenty for her video endeavours. Basic Color correction and grading are quite easy ,on an amateur level of course, either using Resolve or premiere with the colorista plugin.. It will be an interesting and stimulating journey for your mum...
  23. Cantsin you make too much sense for such a thread
  24. Certain useful items in the menus can be assigned to the fn button and you can set up one of the Memory positions with the proper settings for video (i.e 24p, X-avcs codec, Zebra and focus peaking on, etc- so there is no unnecessary menu dive. Don't get too enamoured with the A7 series video, it is not as good as Sony would like us to think. The A7s ii has one party trick and that is low light performance, but at that price there are better cinema cameras around. We will see of course what the A7 iii series brings to the table. A7r ii , it does have the better af of all as far as the photographical side is concerned and decent video but sony colour science is just not that good... If you really intend to spend A6300 money plus a good lens I would urge you to have a serious look at the Fuji XT2 which is probably the best APS-C camera at this time with colours that will please her very much, great AF and excellent 4k video.. She will not need to upgrade. The XT2 also has very good picture profiles that may be used in video . If she is used to canon colours maybe this is a better choice for her. Sony RAWs have a lot of latitude to get the result you want but jpegs straight out of the camera are underwhelming as far as photography goes.. It all depends on your budget of course, that is why I mentioned the a6000 as a cheaper solution to start on.. For the full monty, the XT2 is a great choice, much better than the a6xx series in my opinion. As for filters, I guess you decide on the lenses you are going to purchase , see the upper filter size for all of them and then purchase accordingly. I suppose you start with Hoya filters and then the sky is the limit .Do not get the nasty £12 pounds one, it is a very false economy that will ruin your video. A ND 8 or a ND 16 should be enough if you do not want to pay for a variable ND one. But do not get the nasty cheap stuff, they are cheap for an obvious bad reason. There are of course Heliopans , Tiffens and the like after that.. Do discuss with her that video is quite a different discipline to photography and the skill-set of one and best practices do not necessarily translate to the other.. Good lighting makes a bad camera get decent results, it does not work the other way around....
