  1. Yeah but you didn't see me 10 minutes later when I logged into eBay and found out I hadn't been outbid on all 17 NX-1s that I was hoping to turn a profit on next week.
  2. 25fps according to the manufacturer. It'd be a fun (if expensive) project to tinker with but you'd have to be keen !
  3. With its spin off 70s themed detective series The Rockford RAW Files and Kojakrome no doubt.
  4. Its meant for people using seriously, seriously, seriously long telephoto lenses normally but if you have a Windows tablet (and some gaffa tape), you can roll your own c-mount RAW cinema camera with that sensor in it for under £800 with this https://www.firstlightoptics.com/zwo-cameras/zwo-asi-294mc-usb-30-colour-camera.html
  5. Hmmmm.... Can I just clarify that I brought those two images up for comparison as I knew someone would search his posts and come across it and would, in all likelihood, have not couched it in, shall we say, quite the same terms. There are very plausible reasons why those images are as they are that wouldn't disprove a RAW breakthrough. Just as there are very plausible reasons why those images as they are would not support it. However, I wasn't just going to ignore the comparison between the images because it didn't suit my suspected - and hoped for outcome - that this is indeed for real.
  6. Ah-ha Yes, I should have read your post more carefully I wasn't as specific as that in my search.
  7. Not that it matters but there are numerous NX-1s for sale from Europe on eBay. Including from Poland and Italy. If anyone does want one or a lens for one, this video game shop in Germany seems to have bought a job lot. And no, its nowhere near Frankfurt. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/The-Video-Game-Source/Samsung-NX-/_i.html?rt=nc&_fsub=18346352017&_sid=17190217&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14&_sop=3&_sc=1 You did see that it was a quoted post, right?
  8. It is definitely 'a thing' with Fuji. Precisely how much of an issue it causes depends on what you are doing with it. Just to illustrate eliminating a couple of variables (sensor size and lens), I've just done this little comparison shot for you with an X-T2 against another APS-C camera (Nikon D500) and the same lens (Sigma 35mm f1.4 ART) in manual exposure (ISO200, f1.4, 1/800th). Profile wise, they are both set to Standard which, of course, is not completely common but those differences aren't the major player here. The top picture is the jpeg from the D500 and the bottom one is the jpeg from the X-T2 and the one in the middle is the X-T2 with a 2/3 stop boost in post. I deal with this issue when I'm working in stadiums under floodlights when I'll set a manual exposure on my Nikon bodies which will be common across all of them but the same setting on the Fujis will look underexposed. I leave it as is though (as I don't want to reduce shutter speed just to make it look 'right') and I have an automatic preset on import to do the adjustment because I know that (as in this example) I can pull it up without any discernible noise. So, for me, whilst its 'a thing' it isn't an issue and, of course, there is one obvious advantage when you think about it....
  9. Having said about searching posts, I was thinking the Frankfurt landscape one looked familiar to me and there is post from last year that is curious..... I'd still prefer to give @Arikhan the benefit of the doubt over this (as I suspect the way he's got this to work if he has is not the way many are expecting) but I can't ignore the image in that post and the one in this thread. The first one is a 2 stop underexposure from a burst/sequence containing the second one. The -2 exposure one was first (check the position of the boat under the bridge) and in the post it is said to come from a 4:2:0 8 bit 4K file. I know he posted that he's been working on this for 7 months so the date (September 2017) doesn't concern me but if the first one is from a video file as stated in the other post then that would be some fast switching between modes in the time it took for that boat movement. It could still be that it was also RAW and just exported as a 4:2:0 4K file but in the interests of balance - and the fact its bound to show up if anyone searches his previous posts - I think its fair to mention it as being a curiosity at least. Before you all start grabbing the pitchforks and firing up the burning torches, please bear in mind that these images could well be part of an A/B test.
  10. He has mentioned on numerous occasions in the past on this forum where he is from. I'm not going to do the search for you but I'll just say your detective skills would've been better used looking here than on eBay if you want to find out that it isn't Hannover.
  11. I love a good conspiracy myself as well but the man who is casually selling Samsung gear on your eBay link is from Hannover. Which would mean that @Arikhan has casually enabled X100000 zoom mode on the NX1 to have taken that shot of Frankfurt from 350km away...... Sometimes coincidences are just that.
  12. You never know, depending on how its done, it might be more relevant to know what sort of screwdrivers and soldering iron you need
  13. I really don't understand the aspect of anyone referring to this as some sort of scam. If he starts asking you to send money via Western Union then fair enough but until that happens, what is the issue? Irrespective of that, I completely understand why @Arikhan is taking his time with this anyway. Last year, I made a small discovery while looking to build a hardware controller for Panasonic cameras and let everyone know how to do that aspect of it with a simple webpage. Within days, the "Hey guys whats up..." vloggers were on YouTube showing everyone 'their' hack for Panasonic cameras. Was I bothered about not being credited? Only by the brazen cheek of it to be honest but the bigger problem was the amount of disinformation it produced which I then had to spend a lot of time on here dealing with, which completely distracted the effort for what I was trying to do in the first place. And what of that controller? Well, it had to be back burnered when I had some real projects to do but what has really stalled it is trying to make it into something people can just get parts for off the shelf and have it work without any effort or confusion. Functionally, it has been working for months and I could give you all a parts list and some code now and you could have it but it wouldn't be slick enough and bomb proof for me to be comfortable with everyone sourcing the parts and building it themselves.I'm now on my third different hardware platform to make it viable in a turnkey way because I know for a fact that even from just handing out the simple Cinelike D webpage hack that you are making a rod for your own back when it goes into the wild if you don't. So, the bottom line is that whilst its perfectly fine for me (and probably quite a few people on here) to go and buy a single board computer, flash some code on it, wire some switches to it, put it in a matchbox with a couple of AA batteries and have it controlling my camera, it is not going to be cool when I then try and offer that up for everyone to do themselves. It really is not worth the grief you open yourself up for, particularly when as with both my project and @Arikhan 's are not intended for financial gain. Even when its for free, the entitlement game is strong with many people. Now, what he is doing is many orders of magnitude more complex than my silly little controller, so he has to make sure the technique is 100% bullet proof before he reveals it because while he might be perfectly fine in doing what needs to be done (both in terms of a mod and any consequential workflow) it will be another kettle of fish entirely when the "Hey guys, whats up..." vloggers get hold of it and pass it on (and pass it off as their own) to the general public. They'll get the fame if it works and @Arikhan will get the blame if it doesn't. Getting something to work is one thing but getting it to work for everyone else without a lot of hand holding is something entirely different and takes time. Again, I think people would be well advised to re-read his original comments about this, which he has re-iterated in subsequent ones, about it being perfect for his application and manage their expectations.
  14. ____________________________________ @Juxx989 wrote...... We NX-1 Allstars together again. @vasile @lucabutera @kinoseed @Otto K all have experience and serious knowledge of this gear. Some have not been here for months but I bet they could be coaxed back with something exciting as this. @Arikhan Would be be the Lebron James of the NX-1 community @Matthew Hartman would be the coach. @Andrew Reid would be the owner... perhaps ive gone too far with this. @Juxx989 is really good at dreaming about possibilities with no tangible skills (people or technical) Lets GOOO! ____________________________________ And you never know, if @Arikhan continues to uncover more things about this camera you may be able to call yourselves The Harlem Globalshutters
  15. You say that like I haven't already tried it. I can give you a mic input on the GX80/85 if you want though.
  16. I looked at it very briefly last week and managed to find the connection method but its a lot more buttoned up than Panasonic. Early days yet though The latest pack from Fuji has the Eterna one in it now.
  17. I don't necessarily think its a bad way of working myself either. It has caught me out a couple of times on the X-T2 when I've left it in video mode, brought the camera up to my eye, pressed the shutter and not been greeted by the comforting sound of a shutter firing though that serves me right for arriving so late on jobs! If my suspicion/crackpot theory about it being the reason behind the 720p recording limitation when controlling it from the app is correct though, then its far more of a drawback in that scenario. A way of controlling it over wifi when its in video mode (even at the expense of it streaming a lower frame rate or resolution to the app if needs be) but the actual camera being able to record in all of its formats should definitely be on their to do list. Though not before they've fixed the AF on it and done some of their kaizen loveliness and given us Eterna and/or internal FLOG on the X-T2

    Dolly wheels?

Thats precisely what happened to Jimi Heselden the former owner of Segway in 2010.
  19. I remember going to see them in packed smoke filled cinemas and the atmosphere was better than a hell of a lot of real title fights I've worked at. Hard to recapture that sort of magic on Netflix in your own house irrespective of the convenience of it.
  20. Probably more like this if they'd set the DR to 200 though...
  21. Ex-Pro do a dummy battery with power brick solution for under £50. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ex-Pro®-16000mAh-Rechargeable-Battery-replacing/dp/B01M5KQQSY/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1521749772&sr=8-7&keywords=lpe12+coupler You can also get just the dummy battery with a USB voltage change cable so you can use your own power packs or the mains for about £20 https://www.amazon.co.uk/5V-8-4V-ACK-E12-Coupler-Battery-Adapter/dp/B0749LHWBS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1521749772&sr=8-3&keywords=lpe12+coupler

    Dolly wheels?

Blimey. The new part of it is the you can do it for $500 part now though to be fair Plus the remote riderless driving of the platform so you don't have to jump off at the end!
  23. I don't mind Canon really but, playing devil's advocate, there must come a point where the controlled trickle down has to speed up a bit to stop even the loyalist of customers thinking its all gone a bit stale and seeking pastures new ?
  24. Aha..cheers for the info. I meant physical control to keep them distinct from a user perspective and separate the change from one mode to the other. As I understood it though, the X-Pro2 is only a subset video wise of the X-T2 and doesn't quite require the same overhead? Does it only allow 720p recording when using the app too ?
