Panasonic S1H review / hands-on - a true 6K full frame cinema camera
Thpriest replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Price now corrected to 3999€! -
Thanks Michi. I read that people were doing that (eliminating bits that weren't compatible). No way I'd do that! I'll try the XML

Any idea when we are going to here something concrete about the GH6?
-
I have to share FCPX event with another editor who has 10.3. Any idea how to share an event/project with a previous version? I have found a few people mentioning XML and eliminating some info in text edit but that sounds like trouble! Thanks

This is the kind of stuff I'm interested in as the idea would be to pair the GH5 and S1/H -

I have the famous Sigma 18-35 as well as a 50-150 2.8 and the Tokina 11-16 2.8. Perfect for most of what I do. Just really want to know if it's worth while or whether I'm better off with the GH series and Speedbooster. -

Very interested in the S1 and S1H as S35 camera. Coming from the Canon C100 and having a GH5 with a Speedbooster as well as several Sigma EFS (apsc) lenses this seems the most cost effective root into new gear. I can afford a new camera but not a bunch o new lenses! Really looking forward to hearing more about this. -

What's LCD like for focussing? I understand the EVF is best in class (just need to make it flexible like the C100mk2) -

3999€ with the 28-70 included? Or is it 3999€ for the camera and 2000€ for the lens? -
What I like about Panasonic is that their whole line up seems to work together, from the GX85 through the GH5, S1 upto the EVA1. I never had that with Canon. The C line was so much better than all the DSLRs (apart from a couple of really expensive ones). Much easier to justify investment.

That's kind of my point. If M43 becomes super video orientated then I'm in. Not sure if the S1 can record 4k non stop

Buying new I get to discount expenses and VAT

It's true the GH5 is cheap. I will probably need another camera to complement the GH5 by October. As it stands right now I'd probably get the GH5S as would cover low light as well. Some of the work I do is setting up 2 or 3 static cameras to film a course, presentation etc. The Panasonics are great for this as they record for hours. Right now I'm using a GH5, a GX85 and usually hire another GH5/S if I need another camera. But with a job that is looking like it'll be confirmed soon, hiring makes no sense. The GH5S is around 1950€ here, the GH5 1550€ and the S1 2500€ aprox. I think the GH5S is a bit over priced. I'm hoping it'll have a price drop in September
-
Sounds good. I think having magnification to check focus when recording as well as more accurate battery levels would be a great help. GH5s low light at least.
-
Soooo...when's it happening? Will be looking to buy a new camera this autumn to complement my GH5. I'd really like to see what the GH6 offers before going for a S1 or Blackmagic 4k. GH5S just seems too expensive nowadays. Will be selling my Canon C100. Lovely camera but I hardly ever use it anymore.

did those checks. it just doesn't seem to capture any sound. tracks with no sound on the sd

Panasonic S1 V-LOG -- New image quality king of the hill
Thpriest replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Have you tried it with the Sigma apsc lenses like the 18-35 1.8? -
Thanks for all your opinions
-
Interesting. Does that work with all video files? I'm mainly using GH5 4k mov files (10 and 8 bit)
-
Cool. What's the image quality like? The same (albeit aps-c)? What about AF? I'm mainly interested in AF to find correct focus and then adjust manually. Thanks!
-
Maybe this is a stupid question, but will aps-c lenses like the sigma 18-35 1.8 work with this adaptor on the S1? I've seen people using it for video. I'd imagine it would vignette or is there some voodoo magic?

I'm increasingly having to share huge amounts of video files with clients (50-200gb a go). I had previously been using Myairbridge (in blocks of 50gb) but I've become tired of clients not downloading things on time etc. So i'm looking for relatively large storage (2TB) where I can store, back up and share several projects. Needs to be fast upload/download. Google drive is 99€ per year for 2TB. Are there any alternatives I should be looking at?

I don't know if it would be possible but I'd like a Lumix speedbooster type adaptor (with NDs) to use L mounts 'natively'. That would really help me buy into Lumix family.
