  1. Do you really need to track focus? Could you leave the camera at f11 or something an have a certain part of the walk in focus rather than the whole thing? Especially as you have a couple of cameras filming. That's what I've always done with my Panasonics. Maybe it won't work for you but sometimes adapting to circumstances can make us realise we were doing something that wasn't necessary before.
  2. I'd be interested to hear how the Sigma 56 1.4 turns out. Would you use it for photos as well? the S5 could be an APSC beast with full frame capabilities? Or will the APSC photo be a bit crap?
  3. Agree it's very worrying how reasonably intelligent and sane people believe some really ridiculous stuff they find on social media. There doesn't seem to be the will or the knowledge of how to stop this from all getting out of hand. You could argue that the election of Trump as well events like Brexit means things have already got way out of hand but they were both supported by elements of the "mainstream media" although many of these outlets just regurgitate social media without any worthy analysis. So we have an amplified feedback loop of absolute crap sucking more and more people into it's vortex.
  4. yeah, would have liked to have had a good experience with the P4K but was scared off it the one time I used it. All sorts of bugs happened. The Panasonics have been pretty reliable workhorses.
  5. He would have to buy another type of lens but I second that. A GH5S would be even better as on the odd occasion the light isn't good it won't be a problem. I picked up a 12-35mm 2.8 for 300€. It's a lens that covers most situations. I have used a GX80 (no record limit) as a general wide shot of a ceremony with the 12-32 f3.5-5.6 and it worked fine. Can be bought for 100€. My plan is to sell my GX80, various lenses including the fantastic 10-15 1.7 and get a S5 as a main A cam with the GH5 and GH5S as be and C cams and for streaming etc
  6. Do you notice any difference in low light? Noise etc?
  7. Hola Marla, whilst the GH5 is a fantastic camera it's biggest weak spot is autofocus in video mode. If continuous autofocus in video is the number 1 necessity for you then I'd look to Sony or Canon cameras (each have their weak spots as well but autofocus isn't one of them!).
  8. So the 4K is noisier and has less resolution in all apsc modes or when you use apsc lenses? I mean, is there a difference between using a native L-mount lens in 4k 50p (apsc) and using an adapted apsc lens?
  9. Really? Is it worse than the GH5 which I find to be fine? Has anyone else got any experience of the peaking?
  10. http://www.fotoboom.com/panasonic-lumix-85mm-f-1-8-leica-l-71108 649€ here in Spain
  11. Uffff! Great news! I was about to sell my 18 -135 tomorrow but I'll cancel the sale now! This would mean I could make the change to the L - mount without having to initially buy a lot of expensive lenses as I'm using it for 90% video and manually focus most of the time! If the peaking is up to scratch then I'm good to go.
  12. I agree that it would be nice if Covid would get tae fuck! Also hoping we see instant reviews! Something to fill our time with between cancelled jobs!
  13. 600€ or under is not too bad although 500€ would be the sweet spot
  14. Knock knock. Who’s there? Dishes! Dishes who? Dishes the ghost of Sean Connery. 🤣 Too shoon? As sent to me by some Scottish mates!
  15. Looks good! It's very hard work working on any low or no budget project especially one that takes months/years to complete.
  16. Emanuel, clearly you fell in love with the dasssshhing Sean😜 As a Scot I'll say we will miss having a real A star like him. He was a great Bond but The Hill was his best film for me. Only actor who got away with never losing his accent!
  17. Anyone using the Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 with the MC21 on the S5? Or the Canon 18-135mm f3.5-5.6? And a question about flashes! Do the Godox O (Olympus/Panasonic) flashes work on the Lumix S line?
  18. Looks a very interesting camera. Anyone got any idea how much the f1.8 primes are going to cost?
  19. Looks interesting and I've been planning to get into streaming as clients are asking for it.
  20. I'd suggest picking up a used GH5S as a B-cam. It will have similar colours, does well in low light, can record non-stop as long as you have cards and batteries (same batteries can be used in both cams). AF-C is shite but I have back button focus for a one touch focus and it works fine. I set focus and leave it. Plenty of cheap second hand lenses to choose from as well.
  21. Anyone using the S5 or S1H as a s35/Apsc camera with the Sigma 18-35 1.8 with the sñSigma adaptador? This combination interests me if it all works seemlessly. AF-C is not important to me but I do like a one touch acurate back button focus to nail initial focus. Has anyone tried the combo?
  22. The GX85 thread helped me decide to try a 4K camera with IBIS. That lead me to leaving Canon (C100 and 700D) for a GH5, GH5S and GX85 (Hong Kong no recording limit). On the whole I have been happy as although I loved the C100, the Panasonics are a lot lighter and I can carry a 3 camera kit in a back pack. So that was my favourite thread.
  23. Weird problems they were having with the lens. Never seen anything like that before
  24. GH5S has unlimited recording which is important if you are filming live music. No IBIS if that is needed which is a bummer. If you already have M43 lenses and cameras maybe it'd be better picking up a used GH5S or GH5 for now and wait until things settle down (Covid and the camera market!) before deciding on a change. I picked one up for 1290€ a year ago and you really can't go wrong at that sort of price because it's a great camera for video. Sorry about your Dad.
