    Fuji X-H2S

That camera is way out of what I could pay. And I really never buy a new camera, that way I can sell it say 6 months later for nearly what I paid for it. Plus, it doesn't have an EVF. In the day time the LCD screens suck ass and I can't see them too well at my age either. But that might not be a problem for you. To me stuff that cost that much needs to earn the money back. I don't do anything for money cameras wise anymore so...

Yeah, all that older stuff is getting amazingly cheap for what it cost not that long ago. But not much stuff done on sticks or shoulder mount anymore. And by the time you add the Raw recorder on the back of it well, it is a Huge package.
  3. There will probably be a $8,000 knockoff from China soon.
  4. Yeah, I had one of those. For the time they were pretty damn good. Learned a lot using it.
  5. I gave up looking in a mirror. Main reason I have a beard. I cut myself too much in the dark.
  6. That would have been 1080p, great stuff then.
  7. Hmm you have a point. I don't know enough about all that stuff in that era. XDCAM was a pretty dope system. They were doing Progressive codecs on them at the time. That was a big deal over interlaced. I think only on 24p but hey.
  8. Read the first line. I wasn't doing ENG work at that time period. I was in the 80's. Looks like Sony beat Red the way I see it. Pros like me doing AD work were shooting high end 3 CCD cameras in that era. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XDCAM#:~:text=XDCAM is a series of,introduced by Sony in 2003.
  9. I think the color science was better on the GH2 with Hacks than is on the GH5. I see it seems better on the GH6 than GH5, so progress.
  10. I don't think Red invented anything. They just took a bit of this and that from other peoples work and patented the hell out of it. They called it REDcode, that type of compression had been around since the 70's. Hell you think Sony, Ikegami ENG cameras were just shooting pure raw back in the day. A reel of tape would not have lasted 5 minutes in an ENG camera without compression. I would have spent more time changing tapes than shooting if that was the case. And all the TV shows were taped, Sure as hell not using raw data. This is WAY before Red cameras came out. Red's patent is just pure bullshit.
  11. I am talking Cine cameras. Believe it or not I have never owned a "normal" Canon digital camera other than a M1 for ML.
  12. Also you make 8bit sound dirty. What about a Canon 1DC. Might be one of the best 4k cameras ever made in the right hands. A camera with a Huge codec and the C100 with a tiny codec and they were still both great at what they did, Maybe Canon is a genius at Codecs.
  13. Trouble is there is 1080p and there is 1080p. The Canon C100 1080p had great colors and really good sharpness for the time and a tiny codec. It was one of the few cameras you could just set it to Wide DR and you were good to go. I think we have complicated our lives with all these LuTs and so on. One battery, on small SD card and you were good and off to the races. Smartphone connivence for a Cine Camera back in the day 8 bit or not.

  15. Some cameras benefit for using an external recorder some don't. There have been tons of tests when the Canon C100 came out using a Ninja and honestly it was a waste of time and effort. It might have made you look more pro with it hanging off the handle but that was about all it did. Canon just had some kind of magic Codec that on paper should have just sucked.
  16. Really nice camera but for that kind of money you can buy a Canon R5 and they are pretty damn nice also. I think they have sort of figured out the overheating stuff, but could be wrong. Sony's new stuff is pretty damn good color science wise. They are using the Venice CS in all their new stuff. Nothing wrong with that. I would take other people's words that have used this kind of stuff over mine. I am just going by the web more than using the stuff.
  17. Speaking of False Color and such check out this article and go about halfway down and see how different each brand handles color in false color. Might be why the FP is so wonky. https://www.videomaker.com/how-to/shooting/how-to-use-false-color-in-your-next-project/?utm_campaign=VM eNews&utm_medium=email&utm_content=214916445&utm_source=hs_email
  18. Probably true, but very few I would imagine. Working weekends is not a normal thing to do in society. You do miss out on all kinds of activities, both with family and friends. At my age I can look back at it, and other people I have known look back at also, and there is really very little time in your life anymore to enjoy it. But the biggest loss is not spending time with your family. When your kids get older they don't want to spend time with you anyways, so you have a short window to see them in. Time flies I can tell you that. My life is at the end and it seems like I was 50 two weeks ago. Don't piss away you time on stuff that really doesn't matter in the scheme of life. When you get old and regret it it is WAY too late to make it up. Not counting it is hard on your wife doing all the rearing 7 days a week. She will under her breath hate you whether you realize it or not. It is not fair to her or your children.

The Vast majority of people using a Fuji camera are using it in photo mode. Why would you want the added cost and bulk for that purpose. The bulk of all video for normal people come from Smartphones. It is only weird people like us that shoot video on a camera..
  20. I think a lot depends what lenses you have. If you have a bunch of decent Canon EF, EF-S lenses I guess you just about have to go Canon body. Could buy a Canon RS or sell a lens or two and get the original Canon R. R is not stabilized with IBIS, just electronic, but it seems to get the job done. I guess Canon has just come out with some APSC cameras, but I don't know much about them. The 7 and the 10.
  21. No real link, just the thingy Stephen shows. https://www.l-rumors.com/lumix-ambassador-makes-another-easter-egg-teases-the-launch-of-a-new-camera-with-sick-af/
  22. Well, you have a point LOL. 😃 But wedding photogs have nervous breakdowns and get divorced from working every weekend. I did it for 6, 7 years, look what it did to me. 😬 Didn't get divorced but missed a hell of a lot of what my kids did I can tell you that. I do not recommend doing it.
  23. Probably means Panasonic is going to start making Rangefinder cameras and give up on the rest of it, they seem incapable of making a camera with AF. Joking, but it seems logical.
  24. The Sony PMW F3 came out in 2010, the Canon C100 came out in 2012. By 2015 you could buy the F3 for 4000 bucks. The price of the C100 killed sales of the F3 until they lowered it. Plus Sony wanted an Anal amount of money for the 4444 upgrade, like 4000 bucks, which they lowered to 1000, then finally just included it..
