I guess, you install the original firmware (1.4.1) and overwrite the hacked one with it.
-
It looks like you can't set the shutter speed nor aperture there while in movie mode. At least you can lock it with AEL
-
Switch to Custom, go to menu, dial down to the third symbol (that one that looks like a keyhole or a bowling pin), first entry there is "Manage Custom Mode", go to "open",
-
There were several users with this issue (here or at dpreview) recommending as a fix switching to 'custom' on the mode dial and stay there while shooting video.

Maybe it's that we just don't deserve raw video.

Is the NX1 capable of that much detail on the second picture without some kind of mumbo jumbo?
ABSOLUTELY! & you have the opportunity to grab one with all bells and whistles for only €1850
(I have no affiliation with arikhan, I live at least 300km away from him - I am old - I am not claiming my English is bad, it is. - I am a rain maker, nor a raw maker. And I just want to get rid of this camera because too much meditation with it is not good for the mental health, obviously. I am heading over to this new Sony - a solid mass market product with little risk to be considered as a religion rather than a picture taking device)

If @Arikhan is completely serious, I want in on the hacking as well. I'm an EE student as well and have been writing embedded firmware for stuff like SSD's, so this linux-based camera is so freaking cool to me. I've been on this forum on and off for like 2 years now. Recently I started looking again for an NX1 with S Lens on Craigslist and Ebay and I can't find any good deals. Been deciding between GH5, Ursa Mini, and NX1 for semi-pro use, but would love to get an NX1 so that I could try writing some hacks.
Been slowly trawling through @Otto K's github repo and a good amount makes sense but the some of the setup instructions don't (I think they will once I have a camera and start digging through the menus).
Anyone see any good deals?
1850€ all in

THX. Since you are usinf fcpx, do you have any experience on how the current version handles the 0-255 range? Have you been using that or 16-235 for the great Patagonia film?

What saturation level did you use?

(b) nvidia drivers asking for update on restart, although i did that already
- Make sure, you have macos version 10.13.2 17C89 installed (look for the 'combo' update from apple support website, the appstore update installs 17C88!)
- install and use the nvidia webdriver: https://images.nvidia.com/mac/pkg/378/WebDriver-378.10.10.10.25.103.pkg- cuda version should be 387.99
... looks like that this driver is for version 17C88: Nvidia Web Driver - 378.10.10.10.25.102 https://images.nvidia.com/mac/pkg/378/WebDriver-378.10.10.10.25.102.pkg (I used 89 and 103 above)

That's what Samsung Support has said today regarding another NX1 firmware update:
Samsung Support USA @SamsungSupport
We certainly appreciate your interest in our products! Unfortunately, we are unable to speculate about the release of future updates. The likely hood of an update for this model is slim. But we are all about making our products better. Please stay tuned to the page, and we will post publicly when an update becomes available. Thanks! ^Darius

I am getting some lovely results with 120FPS on the hacked Samsung NX1. Latest firmware and the increased bitrates of the hack have done wonders for it since the NX1 first came out. It is much more detailed than the 1D X Mark II 120fps and whips the ass of the mushy A7S II 120fps at a fraction of the cost!! And full Super 35mm field of view!
Just make sure to turn sharpness all the way down in-camera.
Hacked NX1 1080/120p in terms of moire and aliasing is similar to X Pro 2 1080p maybe a bit cleaner.
Which framerate are you setting for 120fps?

There a lot of public comments on dpreview from KS that are offensive to me - I chose not to respond to them because I am a long time member of that forum and do not want to start a flame war there which would endanger my membership. I read them at the beginning but not for a good while.
Now I see this here. Well, I've had it.
Having said that, @Andrew Reid, I apologize for disturbing the peace on your property and promise to not do it again. I am just asking you to try to understand and overlook this one-time digression.
Thanks and kind regards.
Hey Vasile, raise your voice! Since someone claims that your work is not reliable, it is high time to make your point. We have a great amount of trust in you developers and we all will be happy if you discussed - and solved - your issues openly, the technical as the and the emotional ones.

Agreed, the bitrate is by far the most important improvement. From my point of view, there is only one thing that I would really happy to get, that is an improvement in low light performance.

Which old fw version is it (& does anyone know where to find it)?
-
Hi @vasile , in terms of low light video NR you wrote "good chance that video NR is already factory disabled"- Does this mean, that there is no way of improving low light quality via NR manipulation?
-
I had some some frustrations with the NX1 (which I got returned), especially in stills mode (even FW1.4) & I'm not sure if some of the flaws are generic. I experienced very unpredictable results (AF/focus peaking or shutter shock issues?) and sometimes high amounts of noise in dark areas, even at iso 200.
I got better results in almost every situation with my old NEX-5t (compared kit lenses & 30mm 2.0 v.s 50mmm 1.8). If you plan to work a lot with stills I wouldn't take for granted that the NX1 works better than the G7, the latter has definitely the better jpg engine.
Does NX1 work with Small HD Focus monitor?

If been using it with a 7'' Lilliyput 667GL that displays up to full HD. You can get used for about 30€. Works perfect even when you are shooting 4k, but as hugo_lennart pointed out, you lose some features present on the camera's lcd, such as focus highlightning and overexposure zebras.
