  1. Just updated it for the first time since I got the camera a few months back. I'm unable to change the aperture on my viltrox (firmware, I read) but the issue with weird softness wide open is gone. It looks quite natural.
  2. Stop being a wuss and just buy the BMPCC4K.
  3. Not even top 5 for the BMPCC4K. Feels wrong.
  4. I'm thinking of adapting M42 lenses to my BMP4K, using a M42 to EF adapter on top of my current Viltrox EF to micro43 speedbooster. Is this a bad idea, guys?
  5. Let us know how it goes. Found one with the Tamron 24-70.
  6. Has anyone tried out the Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 g2 with the BMP4K? Looks like the perfect combo for handheld stuff to me. I came across some footage a while back and it didn't look like there was much lens breathing either (sorry footage link lost at the moment).
  7. Holy shit, that's where I did my preorder from! (I'm not in Australia, though. A friend's bringing it over to me.) The email confirmation I got a few months back:
  8. I had to change my underpants. Which retailer did you order from?
  9. Funnily enough, I am in the market for a full frame camera that has above 40 mp (then again, I am a photographer primarily). With a preordered BMPCC4K already in the back pocket for short films, I was considering getting the Nikon D850 for stills. And renting the GH5 whenever run-gun projects came along. But if someone can combine the D850 stills and the GH5 video, and include IBIS, I'm sold.
  10. That video might need a bit of magenta.
  11. To be honest, their supposed PR "missteps" isn't even a legitimate concern for me. I don't get the complaints. The camera that should clearly cost at least 5,000. And they charge 300 for a software with lifetime upgrade that competitors are milking for several times more, or ridiculous monthly subscription. The camera's coming out in less than a month! It's feels odd to me to say this about a camera company, but I've become a big fan and evangelical of Blackmagic and their ethos. Picking a fight with Blackmagic over PR "missteps" is like castigating one of the small handful in the room who gives a shit about democratizing cinema tools for filmmakers, all because they didn't say hi to everyone in the room.
  12. This thread is becoming ridiculously petty. Let's just rename it, "Fuck Blackmagic". That way, we're clear on what the topic is really about.
  13. 8sin looks awesome. Afraid I prematurely got myself this on Amazon (just 10 bucks).
  14. @Andrew Reid, I appreciate that reflection and I would eventually bring down the blog post on @John Brawley, if I were you. As a long time reader, I stuck around because the tone and direction of EOSHD was always able to put a finger on what I felt was missing in the camera lineups for indie filmmakers. But I also got to witness a self-destructive tendency that no one here could stop you from, even if most of us do want your site to flourish. Because it's a popular camera website, you have more to lose. Not just as a blogger, but even personally as a filmmaker. That is the nature of these very public forums. And through the years, I've come to believe it is possible to be fair without the pugilism (although regrettably it'd be far less entertaining). But maybe that's what's needed to move forward: Focus on the good, cut the excess. And I won't be canceling my preorder, as I feel it's a culmination of those years of reading EOSHD, waiting for a DSLR-sized camera that could deliver uncompromising cinematic images. And you should rise above the politics, whether real or not, and still review the camera when it arrives. Regardless of everything, I think yours would be the review I'd be waiting for the most. Not because I'm sentimental about EOSHD, but because I know it's gonna be honest.
  15. I don't recall as I didn't use it much, but did Canon's camera take a massive battery hit when using Magic Lantern's Waveform?
  16. Why is it so tough to implement waveform?
  17. FFS, Samsung, release a FF NX1 already.
  18. Counting down: https://lumix.panasonic.eu/photokina-en/
  19. Truly is. I still use my NX1 for all my photography assignments, and it is a monster workhorse. So if someone like Samsung or Panasonic decides to enter the FF market, I pay attention.
  20. As someone who has BMPCC4K on preorder and was a GH5 skeptic, I only recently used the GH5 in a shoot for the first time and was blown away by the ease of use. The gimbal ended up in the bag, and I shot the whole thing by hand. If it's anything like the micro 4/3 camera, along with a higher megapixel sensor (40 to 50), I'm jumping in.
  21. I'm sold! I hope my preordered BMPCC4K does show up on time. Ridiculous how far we've come with a camera that's just $1,300.

    DJI Mavic Pro II

Guess I'll be getting one for my projects and selling off after a month or two. Kinda annoyed that the Pro version doesn't have zoom.

    All things RAID

This sounds like it could be a big deal for RAID, if this new mass produced 4tb ssd is affordable. Plus, it comes with a 3-year warranty. https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-electronics-starts-mass-production-of-industrys-first-4-bit-consumer-ssd
