Got the speedbooster for my M50, now I can have FF look in a compact setup and Canon colour, and 4K is now super 35mm instead of super 16mm look.

Your picture shows the Viltrof EF- E II adapter...but that is an E-mount adapter? See here

Can you point us in the direction of a EF - EF-M focal reducer with AF (as there are many 'dumb' options)

...we need to get some kind of special anamorphic attachement for it....

I think you are talking about the AG-LA7200. Much sought after, but often available on ebay for anywhere between 600-1000 dollars.

    Check Tito's review:

I haven't actually done it myself but based on someone doing it on an LX100 (picture is somewhere on here) and a picture of the GX80 board you can see the same entry points on both.

My GX80 is out of warranty in a month or so. Maybe I'll give it a go then :)

I remember a YT video from a guy soldering a mic input on his LX100 yeah...cool stuff.

Let me take the opportunity to cheer you on for having a go at you GX80 ;-)

  4. @BTM_Pix G'damn this deserves more attention man. Excellent job. Hope the community picks it up. Just ordered a cheap GX80, can't wait to give it cine D ;-)

(OT: you mentioned in another thread a mic input hack for the GX80? Did you take it apart and find a connector on the board or something? Or just kidding? ;-))

And to make matters even worse my 93 year old mother fell down and broke her leg clean through, had to have plates put in it and looks like she will Never walk again. And if you can't walk you Can't go to the bathroom. That is a pretty big problem! And just got the word that insurance stopped paying for her stay in the Rest home she is in, they don't pay for very long and even less if there is no real hope for progress down the road, so there goes all her money, stocks, car and House. And me and my brother will probably get Zero inheritance. So kiss that goodby.

I am telling you guys this because if your parents are old, or if you are old and have a spouse, if you don't have this stuff, at least here in the USA all down in writing 5, yeah 5 years before this happens you are F ing screwed, They will take the house, and I mean right down to loosing every F ing penny of what you or your parents worked for all your life. The Government, Medicare, Takes it all. It cost at a minimum of 7 to 10 thousand dollars a Month to stay in a nursing home, rest home. what ever you want to call it. That is like $120,000.00 are damn year!! That is what it will cost for her where she is. And that is not the most expensive place there is by far. And you can't move any big money around after it happens because they do a 5 year super audit on their income to see if you tried to hide some big money. And by big i mean 2 thousand dollars or more. So you Ain't going to get shit if that person lives for 3, 4 years or more. I don't care if you are rich. The money Will be gone, all of it. So plan ahead, it is not if it will happen it is when and you know at the least we all die, but how quick do we do it. You CAN NOT wait till the last minute like me, and thousands of others do. It will be all pissed away. Crazy but true.

Off topic but F* it...so sorry to hear man. I hope things work out for you and your family and that your story may function as a cautionary tale for others...

As a Dutchman, living in a country with strong social security for everyone (and without guns), things happening now in the (very wealthy) US are so bewildering to me.

  6. Hey @Hans Punk, but doesn't that mean that the Tokina is stronger?

If you have to bring the camera closer with the Tokina on, then 'infinity' on the Tokina is a lesser distance from the camera. Ergo Tokina is a stronger diopter, no?

Decided to get it....... had to take it in to get the focus adjusted. Now it focuses from about 2ft to infinity! Big news for anyone who cares.....

Congratulations man! Rare find, where'd you get it? Let us know how you like it (and footage is always nice ;-))

  8. I have been discussing this adapter in the G7/G80 users facebook group, also people interested over there.

There is a version with focal reducer underway to me, so then I can confirm whether that one works on my G7 (the Ef-M1 did not autofocus, as stated). In the discussion in the GH5 group you linked to, there was a guy who had his G80 working with AF, so there are models that are not officially supported, but DO work. I guess you'll just have to wait for a review, someone with a GX* will eventually cave in, I guess ;-)

As for your question: I don't know for sure whether Sharpest Light are both manufacturer and distributor, or distributor only. I think the latter (see their homepage). They are however the only party on FB directly advertising this adapter and open for contact.

On the Viltrox page, there is a contact emailadress info@jyc-hk.com perhaps try that one as well? (I will).

  9. I have the version without glass (EF-M1) and the one with focal reducer discussed above is on its way (EF-M2).
On my G7, I can electronically adjust aperture, but autofocus does not work at all.

I contacted the company that makes / distributes them, Sharpest Light Limited, through facebook. They are very responsive, but for now confirmed that g7 and other mid-tier camera's are not supported. See the list below.

If there is enough interest however, they would look into it. Maybe that USB port will get some usage then!

So by all means, send them an email or FB msg :-)

Personally, I think they are leaving money on the table if they don't fix this. Everybody is craving a cheaper electronic alternative to the (admittedly excellent) Metabones Speedbooster.

  10. Hey guys, just a shoutout for this pretty impressively featured iOS app. Was surprised to learn about it through Caleb Pike's video below, as it had been released for a while.

Sure it doesn't replace a true monitor, but you get a whole lot of professional functionality to practice with (waveforms, vectorscope, anamorphic desqueeze, LUT support).

If you would like to see an Android version, just drop the developer a line to let him know there is interest. Homepage here https://www.adamwilt.com/fieldmonitor/

  11. I guess it depends on you priorities. Both combo's give you roughly the same field of view, both are sharp. The Nikons + SB will give you al lot more light and more shallow DOF. But they will be a quite lot more expensive, and the whole package will be significantly larger/longer/heavier than when using the Sigma lenses.

(BTW, the Kowa needs to be well aligned to be able to perform at wide open apertures, see Tito's video on the sharpness fix).

  12. Ouch...that test video you shared is no good, too many differing variables between shots.

So, what @tupp said. Newer, cropped sensors often can perform perfectly fine in low light nowadays. Things get even better with a Speedbooster.

Having said that, a larger sensor will gather more "total light". So in theory, when using two sensors with the exact same parameters (MP, exposure triangle) except size, the larger one will perform better in lower light (as in producing less noise).

For stills, this is pretty obvious. In video, things get less straightformward because other factors play a part (such as method of downsampling, see @Inazuma's examples). But there is a reason why cinema camera's use s35 or larger sensors...

  13. @PhilipV I'm somewhat confused as you ask for a 35mm, but then the widest possible. So do you mean 35mm focal length or a wide lens used in analog 35mm photography?

If we're talking 35mm focal length, I can also recommend @Bioskop.Inc's Mir 24N (nice flares also). Furthermore check Super Takumar 35mm/F3.5 (compact and sharp), or the 35mm/F2 (more expensive and longer). For 35mm/F2.8 there are many, many options. Well known are Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon and the Mir-1 (which is actually 37mm).
