pintowar reacted to MountneerMan in NX1 RAW VIDEO???
Just to summarize this thread for any anyone in the future who comes across it before it gets locked.
Arikham claimed to unlock "16bit" Raw video on the NX1. some people believed him while others were extremely skeptical. No proof was provided. After about one week the skeptics demanded proof. Still no proof was provided. The people who believed him defended him. The individual disappeared because he was scared of everyone who demanded he provides proof of his claims. Roll credits with cheesy music...
    ....
Mathew Hartman went on to start an anti-bullying campaign and was eventually recognized by Melania Trump for his valiant efforts around the world on cyberbullying
Kisaha lost faith in humanity and moved to the woods to live out the rest of his life as a recluse with no contact to the outside world.... He spends all his time trying to hack the NX1 to unlock RAW video.
BTM_Pix opened up an online detective agency.... to this day he still takes on probono cases related to the camera hacks
Arikham was never heard from again

Lol, sorry I kinda got lost in my own sorry there.

@Arikhan Congratulations for your project with the NX1 Raw hack !!!  I think we are all looking forward to it.
But I think the same @Pavel Mašek , your frame is encouraging, but not very convincing. I see it very compressed, macroblock or miniblock?? and oversharpened. However, I trust you. I am very excited about the final result.

I have owned 3 Sony A7xx cameras and I Never found the menus confusing. Sure they can be better, But my Olympus EM1 was just as complex, and I found it easy after awhile. IF you use them you know what to do. If you own 10 different brands of cameras you sure are not going to go from one to the other very easily as if you would be familiar with one brand.
All these new cameras have 50 buttons on them you can program what you need on average for them. Hardly any real reason to even go into the menus anymore. Heck a lot what you need it right on the LCD touchscreens now.
Now I admit I wish on all these cameras there was a way to move items around like you can on a Cell Phone. Put all you usually need say on the first 2 or 3 pages, now that would be sweet.
And no I have Never owned a NX camera. It at the time was too new, and I NEVER buy  into a new system as I have seen a lot of brands go away as old as I am. That is why I would Never buy a Kinefinity. You have to be rich to be a Guinea Pig for startups.
It is all about lenses not cameras anyway. And even today the Samsung lacks a lot on native lenses for them. What they have is good, but not enough of them. And even if they have a ton of them buying new is a ball buster compared to used ones cost wise. So that system has to be around a pretty long time to find used ones in quantity.
I have been a Sony man since I got into video in my TV days. They are the best at it, at least for broadcast, and I know they will be at the top pretty much forever. When they do something they don't shit around. Their main problem to me is try to make shit propitiatory and I hate that. Red is the biggest Whore in the world for that. But Sony has been trying to do that for years also.
It all boils down to skill anyway in this day and age. Like has been said 100 times on here, any camera made in the last 10 years can take great pictures, and in the last five years most have pretty damn good video in them. I am as guilty as anyone on here. I look at, dream about, 50 different cameras and sit here on my ass producing hardly anything.
I could have been at the Cannes Film Festival using a Canon T2i if I had the skill and drive to do it! But I doubt it will change LoL.

Windows 10 hands down. And I say this removing all my bias and past work with Microsoft. It is by far the lightest and most performant version of Windows and this was/is the exact charter of 10.
No OS is perfect. Doesn't exist. Never will. Windows 10 is a solid performer. ?

I was a Beta tester for Windows 10 hell 3 years ago it seems. I have Never had a problem with it after like Beta version 3. Windows 7 is like running windows 95 in this day and age. That was what I was running before 10. It is day and night different, but in a good way.
People complain about Bloatware. Shit it is that way since it has way more features. You think a program is going to get smaller that has more stuff to offer?  It is like the same crap people complain about Sony menus. It is Huge because it has a ton of features  most of the others don't have. Hell if you don't even have 4k, face detect, IBIS, EVF, on and on I can have a menu that is only 1 page!  Can it be better, well heck yes, but it Ain't going to be 2 pages long.
Get 10, it works and has worked for years now. It is sort of foreign at first, no doubt about that.

I use Adobe products, math and stats programs, Office products and Resolve Studio on Windows 10 across multiple amchines. I have had no problems at all - no crashes, hold ups or anything with any program. The constant updates are annoying but I have never experienced them making things worse.

    This is video.
At the same file size of a Sony, too. Rather than shooting ProRes externally, this is much more convenient.

I usually do not use any bitrate hack. I prefer NOT over heating my sensor, to use less cards, cheaper, and not super expensive ones, and to squeeze more power from my batteries. These 3 are some of the greatest benefits of the NX1, and not one mirrorless is better than NX1. GH5 is equally good in heat management, but to achieve this is bigger and +50% heavier than the NX1, with a lot smaller sensor; also you need top speed cards and eats batteries quite a lot.
I have noticed more heat in the camera, bigger battery consumption and of course bigger files with the hack, and I decided that if I need a different tool, I just use/rent a different camera. For the price range and it's tier, NX is still great and top in some aspects (as the ones mentioned earlier, plus ergonomics, some great lenses, megapixel count, 120fps, 15fps photography, SAMOLED monitors, etc).
My impression is that there is a slight improvement from 120-160mbps (never went above that) and for smaller projects, it probably worths the extra GBs, but it ain't 10bit, not 4:2:2, you don't even gain better low light performance (biggest NX disadvantage vs newer APS-C cameras). Bitrates and specs do not tell the whole story. One of my favorite cameras to use and produce is the Canon C100mkII. Do you know it's bitrate?!
There are a lot of posts with details, explanations, and tests, you should read some of that stuff. I would expect @Omer Sehayek above to notice some differences, probably on a more complex forest or sea scene. He can post one still from 80 and another from 180mbps, but I have the same card and I am not sure if it can reach as far as 220 WITH sound, but definitely I am not a mod/hack expert in anyway, on the contrary.

I've bought a few adapters for the NX1, all the similiar cheap Fotasy or Rainbow, chinese stuff.
All have been good enough for me and certainly worth the cheap price point they are at.

I have the Nikon, Canon FD, Olympus Zuiko, M42, Minolta MD, Konica AR and Leica R.

They're all good. For the like $8-15 they are, they're absolutely worth it.

Just don't forget to buy some NX rear caps if they don't come with them.

Still the same answers as above. There have been no real new adapters, so the ones listed above are what you have to choose from.

    Mine is still working great.
