  1. Thanks for pointing out 28 days later. Watched the London solitary sequence. Beautiful. Amazing what people do with just one character an empty city, natural light, suberb blocking and editing and fantastic framing.
  2. I like Fujis ooc colors from their latest cams. Unfortunately (much too strong word) I have not had the opportunity to shoot a XT2 or the likes. From the footage I have seen on the web, beautiful ooc color science for skin and anything else!! What I didnt like was sharp edges around shapes. It´s the same with ooc footage on Lumix cams with electronically connected native lenses. I can grade that video like sharpness of my G6 and GX85 away with curves and wheels. So far I have seen awesome colors but no footage from Fuji shooters without these sharp edges. Not enough people shooting and uploading Fuji shortfilms with older lenses and efforts in post. So Mattias is right, in the end, we need to test ourselves. For instance, I can get all the colors out of my Lumix photo cams I desire to, within the technical limits of 8bit compressed, of course. Other than that, any look is possible. Would love to see more people sharing their footage and BTS break downs. Now that would be really worthy of a camera forum. Andrew Reid used to do this beautifully in his articles. I have only posted a very few times footage of mine. So, let´s do something about that!

Hey, thanks for letting know. F2.8 lookin good for distant shots, centre wise and in the edges, regarding chroma and contrast?
  4. wow, seems like bitrate is too low for All I. IPB might be better. XF looks awesome besides the blacks.
  5. @CharlieHey Charlie, now you can get your camera rollin again. If you are happy with S35 format, which is still the most used one for Hollywood movies, you can just use an ordinary cheap adapter for 15eu that you can buy on Ebay.co.uk or Ebay.de to avoid taxes. I would then recommend getting the 28mm Canon FD for the moderately wider look. It´s my favorite focal length on S35. The Canon 28 FD is the best bargain lens I can recommend. Awesome performance if you don´t mind flares in backlight situations. In harsh sunlight it needs to be graded though, due to chroma. If you get one for 30usd/eu or less, don´t think twice. It can be shot wide open and is still razor sharp. I got the newFD version.

Which focal lenths did you use? How are they different from the ZF and ZE versions regarding optical quality?
  7. @Mattias Burling, out of likes for today. Your lengendary house of moire. We have one here in Berlin as well. It makes almost every camera look bad. It is used by the German docu films association. A great and fun watch Like Iron and me have pointed out, the firmware update gives the A6000 50mbit XAVC. I have graded a friends A7 shots and A6000. A7 looks much worse. From images on the net I take as much info about quality like I did from your house of moire. A7 does not look like a good choice image wise. My suggestion would have been G70 with much better HD than A7, it is not even a contest, lowlight too, once 4K comes into play. But for FF lovers, Charlie did a good choice, since he has the focal reducer option plus 50mbit codec with the firmware update. Swivel screen, no, 24MP and photo quality, yes..
  8. There will be a GX900, a low end model. I think they´ll drop the top (line:), with the GX9 being a middleground camera. Regarding grip, you might be right. One would have to hold it to be sure. To me it doesn´t look like an improvement in that regard. If EVF quality is the same as on the GX85, not so nice in my eyes.
  9. Exactly! Lowlight on the A7 is worse than on the G7. If you use G7 in 4K, it´s not even a contest. Plus the codec is one of the worst of the last five years of DSLMs. It has an image like the VG10, aliasing and mushy and falling apart quickly. It will look nice with blurred out background though. Charlie, congratulations. I never filmed with one, but there is a lot of great footage outthere. Still I would have recommended the G7 But A6000 with a focal reducer will satisfy your interest in the look of 36x24mm sensor size. You might also consider the codec update to 50mbit XAVC, which gives you much more robust material. cheers Hallo Yannick, HD on GX85 is not so nice unfortunately. G6 and especially G7 have much better and indeed very nice HD.
  10. It would have been awesome for my needs if it had the GX8 body and high bitrate plus resolution for HD up to 60p. I think this camera will not sell well. I find this camera weird since there is a GX85, which is only 4MP short of 20MP. I think you might not find a difference in ergos compared to the GX85 which did not fare so well to your needs. Though if EVF is great then it could be interesting.
  11. @Charlie Hallo, since you are asking. I would rather suggest a 5diii instead of an A7. I think A7 looks awful video wise. Or you can get a Lumix G6 for really cheap, having a nice gradeable codec and beautiful HD. If you did so great with the GH2, you will love the G6. That, if video is your main goal. G7 has even better HD plus 4K and in 4K one stop better lowlight, iso 1600 being good enough. It might be the best deal for DSLM videoshooters.
  12. Very exited about this camera! If playing with curves keeps and supports that Fuji color magic, having good battery life, no overheating, awesome low light and exellent robust codec, this camera will raise my intention, as the XT2 with its image and especially colors had my curiousity. All for a price of the GH5, contendender, the Fuji color magic, lowlight cinemacamera. But image has to be workable/adjustable while maintaing its color magic!

Still have your DB and Bmpcc? Would love, if you shot some gorgeous swedish winter sunset and sunrise light with the Tevidons:)
  14. @IronFilm Those are pretty and they are pancakes. Now if they could give me that in 20mm and with good optical quality at f2.8, that would be beautiful! The 7artisan 25mm might be a great start for an all purpose mechanical pancake on mft. Just a 20mm version of this would be even better, if optical quality is good. Edit: just did a bit research. The 25mm seems indeed pretty nice. Thanks, IronFilm!:)

Hey Mattias, Watched both of your videos. First one gave me the idea to try out the Tevidons about a year ago. So thanks. Should just have rewatched before. But that way was nicer anyway, having a bit of talk about it. So you unscrew the original Tevidon mount and screw the cmount on it? Great concept. By the way, that cooking video hat an awesome pace and great shots. And making me think to buy some carottes today. By 10mm does not look like yours, rings are smaller. The 16mm is larger than your sample. They come in different shapes. You still have your Bolex and Bmpcc?
  16. Red One MX around 2008 of filming. Cinematography by David Mullen, who still later in 2011 stated that it would be well for cinema prodcution. This movie has a highly stylized look and production and color design.

Hey guys, got a question about the 10mm and 18mm Tevidons I bought in a rush of bravery a few months ago. Anyone having experience with adapting it to mft? It´s got to be a tevidon to cmount plus cmount to mft adapters. Would be cool if more of the UHD mft cams had a 1.4 ExTele. for s16 crop.
  18. hmm, still would love a ricoh gr. or a ep5 with the 17mm olympus. more than having a fuji. @webrunner5 u silly cat. u were just goin surreal on us. why? that i do not know. maybe, because you have not shot your g7 for too long to see again what a kewl cam it is. we all get nuts after too long breaks from using our cameras. I know i do. tomorrow is a birthday party, i think i gonna shoot some photos there with my gx85 and the 20mm pancake, using it´s builtin flash and plastic photofilm shell for diffusion with some orange gel inside it. missing my gf1 for that, which i lent to somebody. Gonna watch me some classic Mattias Burling video now. cheers
  19. don´t know of any. no mechanical pancake, nor to speak of any with the optical quality of the 20mm. :/
  20. I am always a bit angry and sad, that my beautiful 20mm 1.7 doesn´t have a mechanical focus. Love the rendering of that lens. No small mechanical pancakes on m43 system. Oh, wrong thread for that topic.
  21. Wow, that´s gonna be a treat, Andrew! Lookin forward to your footage. Hope you come back soon. Just good to know there are people like you in this town! Of course a lot of other people are good folks too, no bad opinion about them. I think you know what I mean.
  22. @Andrew Reid, would love to see some beautiful flea market and Mauerpark footage with the Nikon. You gonna put it to use?:)
  23. @Mattias BurlingI´m seeing beautiful ep5 cameras floating around, some for 200EU for the body. for a m43 photo camera it doesnt get much more beautiful than that. I imagine your appreciation for that camera is unbroken. For street and portrait session it might become my new fav once purchased. GX8 has an awesome body to hold, but not close as pretty. GX7 felt a bit to short in height for really comfortable holding. GX85 beautiful to touch and look at but grip to small and a bit too short. Still got my GF1, ep2, epl1 cams. The GF1 and the ep2 have a warm spot still in my photogs heart.
  24. Hey Mattias, the pretty EM10iii does provide 4K (UHD). Oly EPL9 costs 150EU more than a GX85, with the same core features, it has a better grip but worse button layout. GX85 has two very nice wheels, EPL9 has the fiddley and rather unappealing ePl thingy wheel at the back. EM10iii would be more appealing to me for the same price.
