Thank you Yeah, if we protect the highlights from getting crushed, it always looks quite amazing.
Heres a few others, but the OOC settings are always the same.

Just like Andrew said, the goal is to have enough so that you can make artistic choices later on in post...This is actually one of my favourite parts of any project, to grade the footage in a lot of ways and see how it ends up looking.

    These are : -10 sharpness, -2 Saturation, -3 Contrast +8 Black levels.

    Where ?! I'd kill for a 5Dii for 500€....but I keep finding them for 700-900€.
Idk where you guys get cameras for that price, there must be some trick, a friend of mine got the D800 recently for 1300€ and it was a great deal (usually they are around 1500€). Thats ~3x min wage, which is 496€ I believe. Where do you guys search for gear ? I search around ebay..
I can get a Nikon, but isnt it terrible for video ?

GH4 has much lower detail than the NX1.
I agree with you though, the Canon colors are great, but I find the NX1 very very versatile, its easy to grade and look great, however, you need decent lenses...most of the footage I see are shot with the kit lens, this is probably due to the bad marketing, and with the kit lens, it makes the camera look close to what an Iphone @ 4k looks like. Pair it with decent lenses, and you have an amazing camera, that can look filmic or not, depending on what your needs are.

The Nx1 is an incredible piece of tech, an incredible camera (I keep telling this to everyone), its the most underated piece of gear in ages. I did think the a7rII would come close to it though, surprised to see its so far behind, this just confirms my opinion, the NX1 is the best 4k (and video) camera around up until the tens of thousands in price, and even then, it compares quite close.

    Great test btw !

    Hey, Thank you very much
Im not sure what settings im currently using, when I get home ill check and post them here =)
I underexpose most of my shots, I think thats how you make the NX1 look the best, over exposed shots make it look way too digital and looks quite bad, so its best to under expose and then bring the exposure up in post if needed.
Heres a few more, from another project, that show mostly how my footage is underexposed when I start color grading (these were very early shots of the grading also without any sharpen) - http://imgur.com/a/CCBXl - Ill post a few more of these, and how they will end up looking when I get home. =)

Never noticed anything of that sort, but ill take a look and do some real life tests.
Im gonna do some more tests with settings and do a new topic on it, and how I do some of my grades, considering a few people have asked me how its done.

Just go to Vimeo and search "Samsung NX1" the first page is filled with impressive footage from the NX1.
Heres a few screengrabs of my latest video (still on edit) http://imgur.com/a/rQHhx I think the camera is outstanding in every way, color/resolution/detail is amazing, you can make it as filmic as you want, or just not at all, its quite versatile. I too am eager to have native support H265 on premiere, it will make my job so much easier.

    Hey,
Thank you very much, im glad you enjoy it
My current camera settings are Gamma DR (although you can try some other on the NX500, im sure you can get it similar) and Saturation -1, Sharpness -10 and contrast-3. When shooting I just look at the viewfinder, and expose it ot the left, exposing to the right will overexpose the highlights, making it look digital.
Heres what a shot of mine look, completely RAW and then edited :http://imgur.com/a/u4W8D
My grading settings for some of these were :
M31 Lut rec709 intensity 56,7,faded film 29,4, Contrast + 22 and the curve with a very soft S shape, on top I also add film convert and then tweak the settings a bit more on each individual clip.
I live in Madeira-Portugal, it is quite a beautifull place, Im in the process of doing a little video showing of the island, ill share when its done

ricardo_sousa11 got a reaction from barefoot in Canon Q3 profits down 21%. Where to now?
I think Canon is acting pretentious, it reminds me a lot of Nokia.

In the early 2000's/late 90's it was unthinkable buying a phone that wasnt Nokia, every other phone was "crap", so they kept doing the same thing, phones barely upgraded between generations and in a  very short period of time, Iphones came and smartphones....and no Nokia has 1-3% market share.
Canon is getting left behind, and when they decide "its time to move" it may be too late, because you need time for try and error, and they will loose so much ground (I suspect by this time, next year, they will have lost probably 50%). The rebel line is good enough for beginners/enthusiasts, but even that market is getting shadowed by the uprising of Iphones and other samsungs.
IMO they deserve everything that its coming, they spend most of their time crippling their own equipment so that they can protect their overpriced cinema line.
*I upgraded to the NX1 about 2 months ago, and even though im still getting used to it, I dont consider going back to a dslr. Might get an a7 or a7s if the price is right (around 500-700€ thats what im willing to spend).

Just tried this weekend with some footage I had, to do something similar. Its far from good, needs a lot more training, only the last transitions worked, I think. But still its quite fun to edit this type of thing, and including all the little sounds (no camera sound) is quite fun and something I dont usually do. Anyone know any good webiste to download free sound effects ? I took all of those from youtube, but it would be great to know a dedicated place for it..

The NX1 video frames do look a lot like still photographs, heres a few shots I took from 4k video - http://imgur.com/a/CCBXl - it is so outstanding how sharp the image is (please note this image has grading, still WIP, but its not raw image).
What I've realised too is, the camera handles bokeh differently between 4k video and 1080p video (or even photography), making it look like FF almost when in 4k.
You can make the footage look as filmic or digital as you want.
**The reason why theres very few actual good footage of the NX1 is due to the marketing structure. Many people bought it and use the kit lens and are amazed at the "out of focus background", this is a pro-sumer camera, that was  marketed as a "bigger" higher end point n' shoot, besides its a very very new camera and system, very ew people actually risk going for it, considering lens selection and completely new system. Let me share with you a few great examples of how amazing this camera is :
