  1. No it isn't and you know it. But fine, if you feel the Internet is better of with incorrect information go right ahead. But don't quote me if you can't take an answer.
  2. Saying that a camera has jello because it has a CMOS sensor is simply false. It's not true.
  3. Me personally, I rather have all the perks of the bmpc/D16 and light than all the imo downsides of the A7s with good lowlight.
  4. CCD vs CMOS and jello isn't really connected. A CCD can have a Rolling Shutter with jello and a CMOS can have a Global Shutter without it.
  5. If it was the codec, compression and display the motion from a global shutter shouldn't look better than a rolling on youtube. Which it imo absolutely does. Same with CCD vs CMOS.
  6. After buying the Blackmagic Production a Global Shutter is my #1 priority. I can of course not always get it but I will trade it for Resolution and even DR at any given moment. After evaluation of what I missed in the Production Camera and what I wanted to add to the Pocket Camera it was clear as a summer morning. The D16 already had it all. The Organic texture, the motion and the color combined is the most filmic looking stuff I ever shot. Im actually going to start experimenting with how to get it to not look like film, in case I would need it. And spec wise it holds up very well. 5 hours internal battery, analog audio gain, 2h internal storage, above HD res, Raw, we all know the rest. Short story is that it's a serious piece of kit. Of course there is trade offs but so has every camera. Its just about figuring if one can deal with them. In the next firmware that's being tested right now is also background off load and last clip deletion.
  7. Most likely they do. Checkout the C-mount on m4/3 group on FB. Lots of knowledge and potential buyers there.
  8. Yeah I'm very pleased with the Jenas. The 35/2.8 is my favorite.
  9. I just have to click the image, thought anybody could? But here it is: https://www.flickr.com/photos/116862472@N02/17106693237/
  10. Recently got this Zeiss Jena 16mm f1.8 but today was the first time I actually took it out of the box to make sure it works. The frame grab is a flickr link so you can klick and watch in full resolution. (is it me or is the lifted noise in the background quite pleasing and "grain like" compared to most digital noise?) Very small and light
  11. Just for charity's sake, He hasn't used them for that long. So unless "always" means "recently" he still has used mostly Filmconvert. Also it seems most people commenting about them negatively haven't seen them. If you just go to the page there are more than a couple that are very natural and true to skin tones etc and nothing like instagram. I had a few in the video as well that looks almost identical to the original footage with just a mild grade. But just visit the site if you felt it was to boring and decided to comment after seeing just one. Again, I don't use LUTs. I use all kinds of different tools from grading from the ground my self Filmconvert. Including but not exclusively LUTs. What is important is what you are trying to say and the mood you are trying to create. Imo deciding before hand that "I want my videos to look... " isn't a good idea. Better to have an open attitude and do what's best for the project. Then it's also easier if a producer steps in one day and tells/order you to putt that ever so popular (imo dreadful) brown/gold over you lovely footage that you where looking forward to give your own grade :)
  12. Just asking since I believe most people tweek them to their liking. And like I said I do different grades for different situations. Sometimes a instagramish look might be desirable. At the very end of this video I have a different grades with the same bulldog footage. Might be less instagramish but also a different feel imo
  13. Do you have any examples of people using them "as is"?
  14. Yeah not even U3 needed. Raw HD on for example the Micro in 30fps is 65mb/s.
  15. Thanks But I don't like to have a certain "style" and I don't want to decide beforehand how my footage is going to look. I make that decision every time I shoot. And every time is different. I use different angles, lenses, lights, music, grades, etc depending on the situation or story for that particular project. And sometimes depending on budget/time able to spend shooting and editing. Therefor I see my cameras, lenses, lights, and editing tools as just that, tools. And I like having a large toolbox with lots of options. And I don't think skipping a look that suites your story perfectly and makes your work better just because some other guy made something similar. Then its imo time to work on the script, not the grade.
  16. Yeah you can of course tweek them in many ways. I will give them another go soon and spend more than just a few minutes with them.
  17. That looked cool. Newcastle is one of my favorites as well. I also got the New York set but haven't tried it yet.
  18. Those are nice but Ive always been getting better results with Filmconvert than Impulz so I have never bothered with them. But these I had to have, big Miller fan.
  19. Bought his LUT pack since I always liked his looks. And this is a quick run through of some of them. Cant wait for the new color panel in Premiere so it gets a bit more intuitive and streamlined when using them.
  20. Yeah its not perfect but Ive seen some examples in the past when researching the BMCC before buying it where it actually worked really well on moire.
  21. I've never tried it myself I just remembered seeing a video. What it does is reducing the chroma so the moire turns black and white which is harder to spot. Think it was this one,
  22. You can't remove it but you can make it less obvious in for example Resolve. So my guess is that the plug-in works the same.
  23. I was disappointed in the first since it had so little to do with street racing and the cars are so (IMO) "gimmicy". Canon ball Run remains my favorite illegal street race movie BTW, speaking of drive themed drama, re watched "Drive" for the first time since the release yesterday. Good stuff and great photo.
  24. I know you didn't. I brought it up as an example of a camera to show that every camera is liked and disliked by different people I don't think DB needs jack. I always buy a camera based on what it is now and don't sit around begging for updates. With that said Im exited about the upcoming update this week which gives last clip deletion and background off load ;)
  25. I havent tested it fully yet but so far it is better than the BMPC in lowlight. And I have shot with that after sunset with no problem (it to have a undeserved reputation. Its to early to say but I can at least say that its not far off from the pocket either (might even be on par). If they slashed the price in half I would buy second. Like I said to me it is the BMPCC mkiii. After shooting for a couple of years with the BMCC, BMPCC and BMPC and adding up what features I liked and disliked as well as read all the bmpcc mkii wish lists I simply realized that the D16 ticked all my boxes. And it is priced just the same as the BMDs imo. I totally respect that its not for you but I always have a hard time with the "I speak for everyone" attitude. I mean you like the A7s and I can't find one good reason for me to buy it. Thats just how it is, we need/like different stuff /M EDIT: Another example is that you think lowlight is a must in 2015. I say Global Shutter, once I got used to it a Rolling is just out.
