Just did some tests.  Framing guides on/off had no ill effect for me.  Changing metering linked to spot focus didn't either.
However, changing metering to evaluative / spot metering AND having auto brightness on the display cured the problem for me with firmware 1.40.  Just an FYI.

    BREAKING NEWS!

I actually just bought the GH4 and the Lumix 12-35 f2.8

I think I'll also buy a BMPCC in the next few months, now that I know I can share lenses between them! That is a wonderful revelation, brought on by my own stupidity!

As for the Nikon, well - frankly I wasn't hugely in love with it.. it was definitely a workhorse and got me a lot more work, but want 4K and want to have the same lenses as the BMPCC without buying an expensive adapter... I know I'll end up buy an adapter in the future, but... I can wait!

I just watched that video you made and it's GREAT! I really can't wait to start using log and grading properly. Totally inspiring!

Thanks so much everyone! I really appreciate all the help, and dealing with my stupid!

I will try and come by more often and maybe next time I can help out the idiot

I heard of one guy that has his whole video bussines based on stock footage and he doesn't do anything else(unfortunately I don't remember his name anymore). I have seen his portfolio, and his bestsellers by a large margin were corporate videos, like some people working in the office or some bussines woman showing a presentation to clients or coleagues, engineers in a factory etc. Only issue with those kind of videos is that sometimes you have to spend to make them, and you have to obtain signed model release from talents.
I think that footage with happy people / families / children in nature or a park, field etc., also sells well because banksters and other similar corporate guys like to present themselves like they care about are happiness, environment and so on, so most of their commercials suggest that if we all take a loan from them or buy something from them, then all of us will be smiling, dancing and live happily ever after.

I explained it a bit more in my previous post, but in a nutshell:

I was offered a corporate job based on some music videos I'd made. That has snowballed. I know the camera I was using, but not because I understood it - I knew if I did certain things, certain things would happen. I have no background in photography, and aside from a ridiculous obsession with film I never saw myself as connected to film/video. I am a professional musician, and own a mastering studio, but neither of those make very much money.

So when the corporate videography work came my way, and I had a camera, I took a shot... surprisingly I was offered more and more and now I have pretty constant work with pretty high profile clients where I live.

Now the loaner camera is gone, and I have to have something I can use to keep my work going... I asked on here a few months back and people suggested a variety of things... the RX10 ii seemed great as it was all in one, and good enough for what I need, but ... I have also come to realise that if I had better gear, and could produce better quality content, I would get more work.

I am in no way trying to be a film maker.. I wish I was, as I LOVE film... my artistic idol is Chris Doyle... maybe he's old hat now, but back in the 90s I was obsessed with HK cinema, and saw literally hundreds of HK movies and became obsessed with that sort of film making... not the kung fu stuff, the dramas and art house stuff..

Anyway, if you wanna talk technical stuff about music I can do that alllllllll day... I am just wary of being sucked into the whole technical side of this as I just am not... music is what i have invested all my emotional and mental space in for decades... it's hard to even consider being willing to throw myself into this as an art... I just... maybe I will at some point, but right now I wanna just keep working...

I hope that doesn't offend everyone; I LOVE this stuff as an observer, but just can't commit to trying to be anything more than a glorified technician at the moment. Saying that, making music videos is a great outlet for my arty side - which is my largest side - so to speak - and I love being able to just explore and learn when I get the chance to make those.

Oh and yes, I have found that being good with clients and delivering things quickly has gotten me more work than anything else...  I see people a LOT better than me losing work because they can't deliver on time, or more often, they can't deal with clients without their ego getting involved... which is absurd when you're making corporate stuff, IMO. Just make the client happy, get the next job, and try and enjoy it as much as possible.

Thanks for your honest and thoughtful post though... I understand your position very well.

I did purchase the EOSHD LUT but havent had the time to read the guide or use it, just did some simple grading with the M31 LUT, trying to match the Canon Colors that I quite love !
I used the Nikon 35mm f2.5 filled with fungus that a friend gave me, its a war rig and worth absolutely nothing, but I love it ! I will be getting a few more fast Vintage lenses, they work great with the NX1.

    So,

Yesterday I went out and took the camera with me, just to try and film something that would probably be worth putting on, Heres some examples of what I shot, it was some random event going on (Wine), so I grabbed a few grapes footage, no landscapes yet. But this left me with a question, do you guys sell them graded, corrected or ungraded ?

Is these even worth uploading ? Should I search around and see whats the demand from the people who buy stock footage ? I have absolutely no idea what sells and what doesnt.

FFS.  how about rather than debating something that benefits no one, and is impossible to debate without knowing exactly what's happening inside the camera, why not go and shoot something and benefit from the feature.   It's shooting 24/25p, and with a shutter speed of 1/4 or 1/5th of a second.  That's whats on the screen, so that's what's happening.  The engineers at Sony know more than anyone here.  Canon limits the shutter speed to 1/30th in video mode.  Sony limits to 1/4th of a second.  whether its 25fps with 5 frames duplicated, or 5fps, the result is EXACTLY THE SAME when conformed (sped up) to a smooth motion (600% in 24p/1/4th or 500% 25p/1.5th).

Might be so with a mechanical shutter, but we don't know what exactly is going on with an electronic shutter, do we? There's software involved and it's hard to know what's being done in camera, there might be some magical readout mojo going on which you might not be able to emulate in post.

the technique seems to hate fast camera motion since with camera movement everything is moving, whereas, with locked down shots, the static objects are sharp, and the moving ones have a blur trail.  you might wanna try 1/8th of a second for handheld, then only speed up by 300%.

RX10 II works with it, but it's pretty limited (same goes for the A7RII probably). E.g. you cant't shoot video using a Picture Profile. I've told them in January when I got the A7s, but naturally nothing has happened since then. If more people requested this feature perhaps this would be implemented. It's a real shame, too, because the app has the best image of all the remote apps I've tried.

I'm not so sure about that.  I just think they're not willing to be on the cutting edge of video specs, because they can't really devote serious resources and development to it.  However, they can adopt the technology a little bit behind the curve.  They seem about 2.5 years behind.  So, eventually, they'll get there.
Now, if your thing is to have the bestest and coolest video IQ from a consumer stills cam, then you'll always be drawn to those models offering it.
I, however, tend to think that even median video IQ from 2015 cameras looks "good enough" already.  If you're a competent shooter, you can make most cameras work for you.
Here's an example:  Last week I did a quick documentary style corporate shoot for 20K.  I hired a guy that I know likes to trick out his GH4 and likes to run around with a bunch of grip stuff.  Now, I did that not because I knew he was going to get wonderful footage, (I know his capabilities and that was expected anyway) but I needed him there so the set looked "professional."  And it did.  Big lens, matte box, c-stands, silks, reflectors, dead cats, audio harnesses, etc.  Okay.  So that put the client at ease.  Their money was on display.  Meanwhile, while he was doing all the A-Cam interview stuff and some misc B-roll, I was running around with a little EM5II grabbing shots non-stop.  In the end, over 90% of the b-roll shots in the final edit are from the EM5II.  Final delivery is for the web @720.  Unless you're super-discriminating, you can't tell the difference in the edit between the EM5II footage and the GH4 footage.  As a casual viewer you're just not really going to see it.
So this is how I view the whole camera IQ debate.  What I can do practically matters.  I think I've come to terms with the fact that many people will always chase the technical holy grail with IQ, but my focus with many of my jobs (and my philosophy on how to approach those jobs) lies elsewhere.
And let's not loose sight of the fact that in 5-7 years we're all going to have robust DR, great low light capability, and 4K.  Sure, there will ALWAYS be superior IQ devices, but even if you have that capability, what are you going to do with it?  I DO get excited to shoot with awesome cameras, love being blown away with great images when I rent pro camera gear, and I know they are an absolute necessity for certain productions.  But not for all.  Not for your cat videos --or cityscape videos set to emo music.
At a certain point when are we all just arguing how many angels can dance on the head of a pin?  I mean, even this lowly Oly camera has better IQ than the greatest auteurs of the mid 20th century had access to during most of their careers, so I say the tools are great and wonderful, just go use them effectively and you'll be happy.
Finally, as a camera manufacturer, nobody can outdo Fuji when it comes to offering lousy video in their stills cams.  They set the bar so low that it's unacceptable even for me!
