Geoff CB got a reaction from Marco Tecno in Samsung should add a 2:35 crop mode on the NX1 to fix rolling shutter
I completely disagree with MattH & Ebrahim Saadawi.
If you have to read less lines of the sensor to produce a frame, the rolling shutter will be better. Period.
As for the feature, it would be a welcome one. The setting should be in industry standard DCI scope format: 4096×1716
EDIT: I am extremely mistaken in this assumption, apologies to MattH.

Still hoping that this mode gets offered for nx1 as an alternative, as well. A sort of digital zooming (and perhaps reducing rs).

Geoff CB got a reaction from Digital Film Academy in Film School - Institute/Academy
Do not go to Full Sail. I went there for Digital Art & Design, the film program does not have the best reputation. Worse though is that there is not enough jobs available in orlando for the volume of film students in the area (UCF & Valencia are both less than a mile away) and you will have to move to out of the area if you want to find work. Also the tuition is insane, I believe it's currently +$90,000 for 2 years.
Those two New York ones are great, and there is a bigger film making community in the area. UCLA is also excellent, but hard to get into their film program.

I am very much against recommending a Blackmagic when you first start out. The sheer volume of support gear you need to make it work is a gigantic hurdle. I think at this point it's actually better to buy a used Hacked GH2/GH3 and buy a couple lights and lenses with your money.

Geoff CB reacted to The Chris in nx500 4k crop mode
I was kind of thinking the same thing. But Samsung is a little vague on its spec sheet, if you read Dpreview people are discovering the 120fps option and Samsung only lists a Slow/Fast mode in the video specs. Perhaps the crop is an updated option since the processor can do full sensor readout, Samsung seems to be continually discovering more features that are made possible by the considerable processing power in the NX1. I'm still holding off ordering though.
I've seen the 240fps screenshot too, there has to be another big NX1 update coming. The more I shoot with it, the more I like it. My NX1 just replaced the A7s, its so much faster and more responsive, better ergonomics and much easier to set up. I decided 4k internal was better for me. If the NX500 is a dud, there's always the LX100.

I actually hope it's not mentioned because the crop is an option in camera that was left on at that expo.

The blackmagic has a horrid screen (need to buy an EVF/Moniter), horrific audio inputs (external recorders), poor ergonomics (Shoulder rig needed for handheld)
He said his budget is $1500, you are not going to get a BMCC with the gear needed to use it in common situations for under $1500. GH2/3 is plenty of camera to start shooting on.

Geoff CB got a reaction from Marco Tecno in Samsung NX1 vs Canon C300
As to reliability, been using the camera for a documentary as a B-cam and occasionally A-cam. Don't want to jinx it it but so far no issues, it's performed consistently well at 4K for full 30 minute clips back to back. I have not seen any reports of failed recordings/unpredictable issues popping up. As neosushi says above they have also been on the ball so far for firmware, above and beyond even high end cameras.
Now is it as reliable as a C100 recording to 2 cards? No it's not, but if you need that level of backup you can get those cameras which I think fall in a whole other category.
I don't think the Samsung is any less reliable than a 5D Mark 3 or GH4.

Gamma DR? Why do you like this over the previous settings?
I try not to drop contrast to much, because at higher ISO values it absolutely kills the skin tones for me.
My Current Preferred:
1080p
Gamma DR
Sharpness -9
Contrast -4
Master Black Level +8
4K
Gamma DR
Sharpness -10
Contrast -5
Master Black Level +10

I like how they also list the third party products used in post. That's pretty classy of them, if it were Adobe: "EDITED COMPLETELY IN PREMIERE!"

Yeah, you going to hold that rig handheld? Where are you going to put those mic/recievers for that ELR input? Ergonomics matter when you have to deliver a product. Also HDMI is a HORRID thing to rely on.

Agree with this, the audio gain issue needs to be fixed. It's a significant problem with the camera for interview/doc work.
Another great to have feature. 2K Mode (2048x1080)

Okay Then:
Hopefully possible
- Clean 8-Bit 4:2:2 1080p output- Currently it only exports clean 4K, so we cannot use an external recorder with the excellent 1080p mode on the camera.
-Digital Punch in while filming/Adjustable in frame
-120 fps mode under the 1080 24p setting.
- Exposure Compensation in Manual Mode - Exposure compensation that just adjusts the ISO, controlled on rear control dial, for heavily backlit scenes when shooting weddings/docs. Just have it adjust nothing if its not set to Auto-ISO
- Ability to map Audio level to the control dials
-Digital Telephoto - Similar to ETC Mode on GH series, center crop of the sensor in 1080p.
-Ability to manually enter focal length so old lenses work with flashes
Long Shots
LOG
4K Anamorphic Mode - Center of Frame for 2X Anamorphics, would also hopefully help with rolling Shutter because it would not be downscaled.
6.5K Bursts at 24p (however long until the buffer maxes out)
240 fps 1080p Burst (however long until the buffer maxes out)
Also if you can get a word in have them talk with Adobe about getting H265 working in Premiere Pro, they already bundle the camera with Lightroom, so they should have a dialog between them already.

Wow, THIS. Have a MF setting in the menu : AUTO [current implementation], 90, 180, 270, 360 settings. You could change the focus throw to suite your taste. I would not hesitate to buy samsung lenses for video if this was a feature.

Everyone is talking about the 4K on this camera, but they really should be talking about the amazing 1080p as well!
