On my constant "grass is greener" on the other side search I said fuck it and kept the NX1. Shot with an a7ii the other day and hated the ergonomics in comparison to the nx1. graded some a7rii footage and was turned off by the banding in the sky and macroblocking with slog and internal codec. So in reality if you have the nx1 you are stuck with it. Just make sure there are good adapters for the glass you invest in. Im on the hunt right now for a better contax yashica mount cause stock on everything is running low. With the hack we have one of the highest bitrate files in a camera right now. So im just gonna get my moneys worth out of it cause there aren't many alternatives out there worth abandoning ship for.

@parker I am using a fotasy and the lens wont lock in place the right way, you can feel the lens slipping in the mount when you rotate the focus. Think I should order another one or are you having that problem as well ?

glad someone finally said it. The LOG profile can do more harm than good ! Cine4 , Cine1 and autumn picture style is the best. Autumn picture style always gave me the best color

does anyone know of any good contax yashica to Samsung nx mounts ? If anyone has the novoflex one I will buy it off of you

@SMGJohn correct, I wouldnt buy an nx1 unless it was dirt cheap. When I bought mine we had hope samsung would continue support but that aint happen. The prices on adapters and batteries are going up, the NX1 is becoming available in less and less places and the list goes on. Great camera tho cant lie about that one

@richg101 have you tried the a7sii ? How is it in comparison to the a7rii

Funny, the only alternative I can see to the nx1 IS the sony a7rii or a7sii. I think we may have hit the ceiling with these cameras

Honestly dont think there are much alternatives to the nx1 to be honest. Only logical move is if you wanted a full frame look or shoot a lot of wide angles I would move to the a7 series. Im looking at the fuji cause I can use speedbooster with nikon or contax yashica lenses. Nx1 is far ahead of the curve unless you are documentary style shooter and you dont bring your own lighting

@vaga lol nothings wrong with the nx1, I hope im not scaring you guys interested in picking it up as a body hahaha. Im only selling it because im gonna rent cameras when I need to shoot. I switch bodies too often to keep buying and selling. I may pick up a fuji xpro2 or wait to see what the fuji xt2 when it comes out. Be aware not even amazon is stocking the NX1 new

You're so quick to argue that you completely misread what I said but its ok. I will explain in detail. I never said its happening BECAUSE its 8bit. LOG has severe limitations in an 8bit color space thats as much of a fact as the law of gravity. Sgamut / slog was meant for a 10bit color space. Anyway you combine shooting at high iso, underexposed & with a LOG profile thats a disaster waiting to happen because of how LOG is distributing data amongst the 8bits. You get better results when you overexpose because you end up pushing the noise floor down. Im wrong about that too ? I had an a7s and my footage was phenomenal with it, cause I exposed with it the same way I did with any camera : to the right. Im happy you have years of experience filming, I do too ???. Shot on multiple platforms ? I did too. so did I say the sony cant deliver a great image ? Most certainly did not. Find where I said that. I'll wait. @j.f.r.

idk if you guys touched on this already but....you get these noise problems with the a7s because you are using an 8 bit log profile in low light in a low dynamic range scene. Even if the camera shot 10 bit that's a recipe for disaster. When I had an a7s I used cine4 or cine1 for everything. Only time I pulled out SLOG is when the dynamic range was way high in a scene and that's where the profile truly shined. ...you don't have to shoot everything flat...you are wasting bits

Contax zeiss 35mm f1.4 going for the same price as a brand new nikon or canon mount zeiss 35mm. It really is an investment in images cause the better your aesthetic the better your clients. If your not doing paid work the vintage lenses make even more sense as you can get some really cheap ones like the helios that renders a beautiful image. I wish I had a plug with some rental or production companies when I had my milvus glass. Renting out equipment is the true long term investment. Yup the prices of canon fd lenses are skyrocketting . That is the perfect example

Haven't tried the MM but the resolution on my AEJ & AEG versions are surprisingly high. I shot a couple of stills for a client and it came out pretty dope LOL ! What pic profile is this ? Vivid ? Looks good ! How do you feel about shooting with slower lenses on the NX1 ?
