@Marco Tecno I really think it may be the sharpening algorithim + the downscaling thats hiding the noise. Just my guess, I'm seeing and improved image with -5 sharpness. You're right we should look into it some more but I am not expecting it to perform dramatically better at 1600-3200. Let's keep our fingers crossed that we can squeeze an even better image out of the cam update : forgot to mention the video maybe using the same processing used for jpg images which perform worse than the raw images. If we can get raw that would be a game changer

??? How would that create an acceptable 3200 ? Mind you I never said the NR is disabled At -5 so you may need to lower your expectations. Im sure there are plenty other factors that are affecting the image such as downscaling and adaptive noise reduction. I would still shoot in between 100-800 iso with fast lenses and maybe an LED light or something

Yeah please pleaaaasse help run tests on that. the sharpness algorithim and the adaptive noise reduction probably works in tandem

@sandro lol theres no way a bitrate hack can turn this camera into a low light camera. Not happening

I put the NR theory to the test. my theory is the -10 sharpness is actually smudging out the detail creating the NR look. You guys can test it out yourself but I am using -5 sharpness now and the image is...incredible.

new lenses resale value sucks. Idc how dope the lens is if its new they are harder to flip. These vintage lenses get sold the minute you put it up on an ebay auction especially . I bought a canon fd 50mm 1.2L for $250 nearly a year ago now I check ebay and they are going for like $600+. Old Zeiss and Leica (especially Leica) only appreciate in value. The contax zeiss 35mm f1.4 goes for the same price as the newer ze version. Those prices are only gonna go up as more people invest in mirror less cameras that can mount old, beautiful glass. I don't see the same thing happening to any modern lens right now especially when you factor in we have a greater ability to mass produce these things than we did in the 70s...our current modern lenses will probably gain value wayyyy after our lifetime

I mean damn I think you guys are taking the "resurrection" thing tooooo literally. Im not saying Samsung put together a budget for some epic team like Ocean 11 / Mission Impossible or something. Im saying I KNOW the firmware update was to derail the hack, even though we got a super awesome update to ensure compatibility with an android app. I have not seen one company be it Apple,Sony etc. that will not try to block a hack or a jailbroken phone with firmware updates. So idk what I am saying that is sooo far fetched and unbelievable here but ok, guess who's not updating to firmware 1.41 ? ? @antonis

I've contacted visioncolor about that in the past but I haven't gotten a response about that. Maybe we can all SPAM em til they make the nx1 profile ? ? @SMGJohn

Im confused so the update just coincidentally happens to make the mod/hack more difficult to use ? One hell of a coincidence. I personally found it strange that a company that never formerly addressed a firestorm of shutdown rumors as we watch the nx1 stock dissapear they return to update the samsung camera manager app ? I'll believe it if you do but it sounds weird to me. So sorry for misquoting you & great job on the updates. We are all merely speculating about why this update & why now cheers @vasile

blogging is hard as fck. Factor in having to write, proofread, review the product, fact check the review then upload. I tried to blog full time AND take on jobs and it was just toooo much. Consumers/readers are monsters dude. Flesh eating monsters lol they digest content in seconds now. The long form factor blog is dying ONLY because people have become accustomed with short & sweet cuz of social media

Been looking into a portable lighting solution for my shoots as an alternative to looking for expensive fast glass or an a7s (lol). I know many have including myself have issues when raising the iso past 800 when shooting with crop sensor cameras so what are your favorite LED lights or lighting setups for video

That in a nutshell is what I do not understand. The bitrate of the NX1 was too low h.265 or not so Samsung upped it in a firmware update. Cool. The NX1 community noticed still it was too low (macroblocking artifacts). A hack is made to alleviate that issue and you block it ??? Seriously ? Shame ! i get what @Jimmy is saying about a potential security flaw. So why would they send their kits to magic lantern ? Isn't magic lantern making a camera of their own ? Im confused but hey @vasile is updating the hack for 1.41 and I hope he finds even more exploits to the system with the update

@Axel well said, its amazing to me how flexible the image from the bmpcc is in general. It gives off a different mood in all 3 shots
