Has anyone successfully disassembled and reassembled a Van Diemn modded iscorama?? I have plans to modify the lens body to fit into a vocas 15mm pl lens support for a more realiable and sturdy mount. Right now it keeps slipping and shifting the horizon when using a ff motor and the vd 15mm rail support. Has anyone disassembled the lens? Or at least the rear of the housing where it screws to the taking lens?

so will the 2nd gen FM fit a Kowa 16-H with out hacking it???

I just use a simple lens mount to support the weight of the lens after I screw on a few rings and step down rings onto the taking lens. It's a real hassle when it comes to changing the taking lens but, otherwise I love my 54. I've had my eye on that casino mount, seems like a more solid support.

Thanks for the advice. I just emailed focal point, we'll see what they say. I've googled this topic for days, I can't seem to find or talk to anyone who's successfully restored an isco.

Has anyone successfully removed fungus from a lens? The reason I ask, I have an iscorama 35 with TONS of fungus on what looks like all layers of glass. Kind of hard to take pictures of the fungus but it does effect the image when the lens is mounted. I'd like to bring this lens back to life, anyone have any advice???

Hey Chris, I'd recommend doing a ton of camera test. Personally, I love the ML raw anamorphic workflow. It reminds me a lot of what it was like to shoot on film. It's really a disciplined flow and a scary one at the some time, cause you really don't know if you got the shot till the footage is "processed". I haven't shot ML on the MK2, but with the MK3 I've had some really fun times. I've been using the komputerbay 64gb cards with great results. I get about 12 min of footage while shooting at the highest possible resolution. My post workflow is: convert to DNG's with RAW magic, quick color pass in Davinci, edit in CC Premiere then final color grade and final render out of davinci. Sometimes, after my first color pass I export the clips from davinci as profess and edit as proxy files then relink in davinci for the picture locked final color grade. It's kind of a clunky work flow, there's a ton of other and more efficient ways I'm sure but I like this method.

This is very interesting. I managed to get an isco 36 with severe fungus on what looks like all elements of glass within the lens. I haven't done much research yet, but I'd really like to bring this lens back to life. I'll post some pictures when I get back, but can anyone point me in a good direction for fungus removal?

Instead of using the vocas pl mount, I wonder if there's a canon lens support, like the ones on the 70-200 that would fit on an isco?

I'm in a similar boat with you. I'm slowly building up my rig for more efficient anamorphic shooting and lens swapping. I really dig jaquets rig. I ordered the vocas pl mount from b&h, but it's taking a lot longer than expected to get to me. As for the rest of the rig, zacuto is having a huge sale on their floor model stuff. Some pretty sweet deals going on there. I picked up the swing away matte box rails and rail risers. Links bellow. Essentially, it's jaquets quick rig but at a fraction of the cost. Once I get the vocas pl mount in I'll mount that to the swing away rails then the rest to the risers for final adjustments so nothing but the taking lens will be mounted to the camera body. So after using them on a test shoot I've come to realize that what you gain in speed you forfeit for security....like Lucian said above. It's so nice being able to change out diopters so quickly though, but I can only imagine after some time the magnets will start to fade. I'm not sure I would trust it with a expensive/rare filter/diopter, especially during handheld shots. Another thing I would note about the filters is the idea of magnets and media (SD/CF cards) together in the same gear bag. Makes me nervous. So in conclusion, I'd keep it old school and take the few extra seconds to screw on a diopter.

Few of my concerns (besides a hundred bucks for magnets) are possible vignetting? I know I get some vignetting when I stack diopters on my isco 36, full frame. Anyone have any experiences with these?
