    I really expected Samyang to enter the budget anamorphic market a long time ago. I even wrote them a heads up email. I am such an influental guy you see, they still haven't given up on signing me with the r&d department..

    Good idea! gonna do too. I do believe if manufacturer will receive a few emails on regular basis they might start thinking about possibility.

    that was my first question to the moondog labs when i got their iPhone 1.33X adapter from kickstarter, if there s35 version anywhere on the roadmap, didn't get the answer :)

  2. very different solutions and very personal decision;

    i never liked SLR magic 2x  artifacts and vertical flares, it's kinda soft wider then f4 while my Kowa 16H is pretty sharp @ f1.2 or f1.4 , but i guess it is more about your shooting, if it's run and gun dual focus is a very hard to deal with and SLR Magic will be definitely easier to work with cuz it's almost 'focus through', but flares and anamorphic properties look way better on Kowas, well, at least to me:)

  3. my advise would be find a local renthouse try it for a day or two before offloading thousands $$$, lomo anamorphics are very different from those lomo spherical PL lenses, especially in weight and size (and price :); Originally they come in ОКС mount, but most of them are PL converted now;

    'one or two' lomo anamorphics could be $10-20K, or more, depending on focal l. and condition;

    what's the best lens for your camera? sorry, i'm lost:))

     Raf has now discontinued that adapter so there's no point dragging on this pointless discussion.

    well, Redstan still has some :)

    so the point of "this pointless discussion" is in the thread name,  clamp from Redstan  for Kowa 16H is the best available option today

    Eh...it's in this thread, right!?

    http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/141997441693?_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649&_mwBanner=1

    (sold, but you can check how it looks)

    lol, no my friend, this is not the same, i almost smashed my Kowa 35 using one of those with that "flat spring", the lens just fell off due to a poor design :)),

    Rafael (Raf) told me he never had the lens in his hands to do a proper design, he used whatever blueprints he could find;

    listen to papa - Redstan might costs more, but it's because his product is better, it's actually the bets on the market.

    I don't know if you've seen but Raf actually makes a 16-H clamp now that is exactly the same as a Redstan (but costs a 1/4 the price).

    i have both, and they're  not the same, redstan clamp has a thread on the back for the lens and the screws are just for the alignment

  7. very personal, i had SLR magic, got rid of it, never tried core DNA, but i guess it's the same concept, it makes the whole setup very bulky, would buy Iscorama, but it's 1,5x and close focus is about 2 meters, i don't know, i guess my next step is  real anamorphic lenses, freakin expensive :)

    here is the test i shot with the SLR Magic Rangefinder

  8. with anamorphic adapters you want to have taking lens front element not to be too large, the shorter distance from the rear element of adapter to the front glass of the lens the better for the image, I believe Nikkor 50mm f1.8 has 52mm front thread, it is a great, cheap pancake lens and i would recommend it to have if you plan to use anamorphic adapters

  9. Kowa 35 is an excellent glass, i don't have inflight (yet), and this one doesn't appear to be the one, at least not the official, maybe pre-production unit,  but I do have 35 1.5x , very unique contrast and very sharp glass, Redstan's opinion on Kowa 35 is that a Hollywood level glass, and I tend to agree, really high quality lens.
