  1. The main issue with any of the projector lenses besides size, some are huge, is the dual focus aspect of them. You need to focus both the anamorphic and the taking lens. Depending on the lens you need a way of mounting it to the taking lens or to supporting rods and one of the single focus solutions out there if you don't want to deal with the dual focus. To my knowledge there are 4 the Rectilux, Rextilux Core DNA, Focus Module and SLR Magic RangeFinder. Not all are available for every type of projection lens.

  2. Anyone know of a battery belt that allows you to attach multiple gold mount batteries in parallel for greater AMP output? I am trying to work out a battery solution for 120 watts ideally using the 1 190 watt and 3 x 90 watt batteries I already have. Not sure if such a thing is safe or even exists so any help would be great.

    Thanks.

These would be the ones I'd go to, by priority order :

    FS5 + good glass

    FS700+Odissey

    URSA 4.6k

    BMCC

IMHO these are future proof and can get you pretty stunning results, specially if you pair them with anamorphics!

At this point I would not even consider the 4.6K, It looks great on paper but BM is still working the bugs out and you might end up with a bad one with the Magenta issues they are having. There are other issues as well so at least in my opinion it is better to wait a bit and let them refine it some more.

I would recommend that unless there is a specific thing you absolutely need on a newer camera is to pick up a used older one like the F3 that IronFilm pointed out. There where great cameras years ago that are still great, you can pick them up at bargin prices and they are completed. Firmware updates have fixed all the issues and they have been around long enough to know if they are truely reliable or not. You don't need the latest and greatest.

I would say an F3 if you don't need 4K wtih external recorder and a Cooke 20-100mm T3.1(lenses are a better investment than cameras). This lens is a great lens, very vercitile, you can shoot an entire feature with it, and can be found for around $4000 but might take some patience. You can have a package that will deliever fantastic images for around $6000-$7000 leaving some budget left for other things. If you go the F3 route make sure it has the paid slog upgrade as it enabled 3G out the sdi giving you more recorder options.

This setup is large and heavy though so not a run and gun solution.

Not to put a downer on all this, but shouldn't you guys move off/away from this forum?

This is Andrew's forum/blog, after all & he might not take too kindly to all of this.

Remember that you might be dragging his name down with yours & this scammer.

Have any of you checked to see what he thinks or what steps he is taking? Might be worth doing, before you rush headlong down this route.

Just saying, because in the past he was quite quick to ban people for a lot less that what this kid has done & what you are doing.

This is a very good point, it is a shame that Andrew has not been able to be more involved in this from the beginning. I personally have no intention participating in what is coming, it is not something that is in my nature or that I necessarily agree with, this is sound advice for anyone thinking about going along with Ed's plan.

With the light of this info, I predict Ed will make a rash decision in 3, 2, 1...

I for one have been been advocating for some restraint and have been criticial of Ed in the past in how he delt with ES. I am a flawed person and have made mistakes so it is easier for me to empathize with people who show the same and I am often willing to give the benifit of the doubt, put myself in their shoes and think about what I might have done.

If it was me being handed a second chance to make things right and even very generously been handed money to pay off my debts there is no way I would not have made it to the post office to ship the package, come hell or high water I would have been there before they opened banging on the door to let me in. If the link about the post office is accurate then there really is only one logicial conclusion.

Ed it is your call, you will recieve no more critizm from me on what you decide to do (within the realms of social media anyway). At this point he knows full well what he can expect from you and he is making his choice.

Ebrahim if I were you I would play your next moves very carfully.

They're Trolls & they did it for 3yrs (is that a record?), the scam just happened.

And yes, if this guy/s are allowed to stay here & carry on trolling us, then fucking idiots is about right!

Don't like like it, boohoo....I call them how I see them.

Is this epic thread the Trolls final victory? Probably.....

I don't care what your opinion is you are free to say that he should be banned and not allowed back but personal attacks and name calling are not necessary and are against forum rules, if being respectful of others and acting professional isn't enough motivation for you.

What the fuck are you guys on!

The guy/s (probably more than one hence the up'n'down English) scammed people, shall I say it again SCAMMED PEOPLE!

He got caught out & now you want to make friends with this piece of shit again?

You're a bunch of fucking idiots.

A thief comes into your home, steals from you & your solution is to let him back in?

This guy & his friends are laughing so hard - welcome to the wonderful world of being scammed & trolled.

The guy should be banned & the thread should stay as a permanent record, for us & everyone that might google this piece of shits name. When you get convicted of a crime it stays on your permanent record & you have to admit that you're a criminal everytime you apply for a job or whatever you might have to do for the rest of your life! The same should apply for this idiot - he committed a crime & this should forever be his grave..

I doubt a group of scammers would have even bothered to comment on this thread at all or try to make good with the victims. They would just pack up and move on laughing all the way as you said. Your attitute and insults to others are out of place and totally uneccessary. They have your oppinion and you have yours but probably none of them are going to call you a fucking idiot, either.

No reason for. This has been a criminal case, not a big one, really, but one of a kind. No less relevant seems to be, however, the rehabilitation of Ebrahim. Everyone deserves a second chance. That is, as second step to follow the refund but should be no less crucial for all of you.

This has not been a criminal case, it has been an internet soap opera with a dash of vigilante justice. The rehabilitation of Ebrahim would have been more plausible if this had been handled by mods rather than blasted over the internet for the world to see. The fact that all of this has already been done makes a second chance much harder and much more unlikely. The internet never forgets.

All I am saying is we need to be careful, destroying an innocent persons carreer and reputation is far worse than someone loosing a few hundred bucks, at least in my opinion.

  9. I don't think the court of public opinion is where this belongs and it is often wrong and there is too much emotion involved. I know it seems like I am attacking Ed, that is not really my intention. I think what he did was done with good intentions but is a dangerous precident to set. The internet is powerful and can be dangerous too the flow of this topic had already turned against ES before he every responded.

  10. 12 minutes ago, Ed_David said:

    Dude, really?

Andrew will find out that the IP is indeed all the same.  ES will then say that's cause it was something in his company.  The IP will reveal nothing

    LETS REVIEW THE CLUES

    1. Okay first the handwriting matches between the screenshots from the "hacker" and his twitter account.

    2.  A person who knows Egyptian says the police report is forged.

    3.  His telephone number doesn't work.

    4.  His stolen IDC serial number is off by a digit

    5.  His friends on instagram when got contacted by him, then contacted him, and then he asked me to tell them it's all okay.  So they don't take him at his word?

    6.  There is zero record of his dad as a filmmaker

    7.  He says he's an expert in radiology - yet shows no knowledge of this.

    8. he will not do a video chat with Sernior.

    9. Senior went from getting his PHD 20 years ago to 30 years ago

    10.  Senior first responded, then disappeared.

    11. Senior makes a lot of money - he'll pay for it all.  but now he won't - and Jr is broke and can't seem to pay it

    12.  that initial facebook post saying he scammed them, then he says he did it for his sister's operation (this can be refuted because I corrupted the evidence, but at least I came forward)

    13.  the lack of record of his dad's media company

    14.  The constant switching of saying what cameras he owns.

F - you are right though - we should have waited for the Western union webcam that doesn't exist and the IP theory and all his messages that I'm sure he scrubbed unless Andrew keeps a backlog of.  Then justice would have been served and I'm sure the guys will get their money back.

No man, this is one of those things you need to move fast and kick up a lot of dirt - BEFORE he has the time to react.

    I work with criminals a lot -

These guys usually are good and fast.

Closing up holes - granted ES didn't do this.  He made this pretty damn easy.

But usually before you know it, they are out.

    No traces, nothing.

    He was sloppy, but still,

also lets imagine the longer you wait, the less likely he is to have the money.

the more time he has, the more time he can think.  he can stall.

I'm not saying this guy is a criminal mastermind, but he still ripped off three people and thought about it for a while.

he thought about the legal ramifications with his background in law.  About blaming someone in his office.

He had all of that ready to do.

He was ready for this day, and he was good at it.

He did the "I'm a respected member on here and you're ruining my holiday" bit.

That card gets played a lot.

He did a cost/benefit analysis of doing this scam.  And getting away with it.

And suprisingly it seemed to have worked pretty well.

Who would believe a person with 3 posts?

    We did.

    thank god.

I knew something was fishy with this guy - maybe I didn't - but the whole thing seemed weird.

Anyway who cares - I'm just trying to not go to jail.

I agree, it doesn't look good for him at all but what gives you the right to be judge, jury and executioner? I get what you are saying about moving fast before he can react but you also run the risk of crucifying an innocent victim too.

Really this should have all been handled by Andrew, the victims, ES and what ever 3rd party enforcement required. It is too bad that Andrew was not arround to step in earlier.

  11. It doesn't matter what you think or what any of us thinks. None of us have all the facts yet, none of use know what the IP data is like, none of use have seen all the PM's. When you start convicting people in the court of public opinion, assiging guilt and threatening people it is very dangerious. I know what your opinion about what happened is but what about the off chance you are wrong and ES is also a victim in this too. Maybe it is someone close to him that he cares about and doesn't know what to do, who knows none of us do with absolute. That is the problem.

    Its not torture

    To clarify

He asks me to lie to his friends and tell them he didnt scam people. After i told them he was in trouble for scamming people and pointed them to this thread. I told  him ok. Saying i would lie to them was a lie. I didnt tell them.

He wanted me to lie to his friends and say everything was okay.

    Its not.

And the only ones who will help this guy is his real life friends.

    Not us.

    We are nothing to him.

Just objects to steal from and endlessly lie to.

And still honestly f him for ripping off three peole who honestly didnt know better.

He also hurt the reputation of this site.

    Which is a shame.

Cause i think this is a great site.

And to that you say...so do i.

Well im an idiot but i never scammed anyone or lied about myself.

    I use my real name.

    I post.

    I try to share.

    Again im sorry.

    I went too far.

But man reading the third scam victim made me turn into that guy from la confidential played by that australian guy russell crowe

When I read your inital post it seemed like he confessed based on the threat that you would reveal it to his friends and when he did his part of the bargin you went ahead and revealed it anyway. Thanks for the clarification and my apologies for mis-interpreting what you wrote.

What Ed did was spot on, all the people who think what Ed did to be wrong is why scammer scum like this exist.

He had already been exposed long before this happened so really the threat of further scamming was practically zero at this point. So where exactly is the line that we should not cross when dealing with a situation like this? After the confession was made what was gained by going back on the deal and exposing him to his close friends anyway?

  14. 5 minutes ago, Ed_David said:

    You are right

    I apologize to everyone.

I didnt see it that way.

I honestly started it cause i thought one of the posters was going to beat him up

But yea my anger at him for scamming got the best of me

    Anyway justice will be served.

    And this is it.

    Sorry eoshd.

    Im out.

LIke always I believe you were trying to help and do what you thought was right. In my opinion you went to far is all. I do greatly respect the fact that you flat out said what you did and followed up with an apology, that says a lot in my opinion.

  15. 27 minutes ago, Ed_David said:

    It got the confession.

He had a choice.  I gave him the ultimatum two days before this morning when I went to work.

After I heard a third person got scammed, I had enough.  My conscious would not allow this kid to keep going on without real world repercussions occuring.

In exchange for his confession, he asked me to say to his friends that it was a mistake and someone else did it.  The whole time he also said it wasn't him, but he would confess so I would leave his friends alone.

    I told him I would.

    that was a lie.

As Squid said, you can't bullshit a bullshitter

Sorry to back out of my pledge to not post in this topic anymore but that is pretty messed up Ed. The problem with what you did besides being very mean and dishonest, it was an act of revenge after all, is that you coersed his confession. Just like using torture when things get bad enough the person will say anything to make it stop. This doesn't mean he didn't do it but it does cast a shadow on this confession of his.

  16. Probably the best thing we can do is just stop posting in this thread, the cat is out of the bag and there is nothing really to be gained anymore. I am sure Andrew will deal with this in some way. If they are not refunded anyone who was scammed can let us know after some time has passed.

This will be my last post in this topic.

  17. man this thread is disgusting, getting enjoyment from someone being scammed and a long time respected member either behind it or worse being publicly shamed and accused while they themselves might be victims as well. So all of you can enjoy this, savor the misfortune of others and continue to concoct your wild theories. If someone hacks my account is this what is in store for me too? How about all of you? I would remind you that this isn't a movie, there are real lives involved and non of us know what really happened.
