You would get the 3x F5 "sometime" (2019) in the future for the 4K.... but not a FS7 in the mix? & might it. But also might it not be even more logical to get instead 3x C500 for the 4K multicam as you are already a third of the way there?!

Strip the F3 way way down. Just use it with internal batteries and the recorder as your monitor. Then it can become pretty lightweight and a pleasure to use when you are going solo as just yourself as the crew. I too went the same pattern of at first having it heavily built up and intimidating, but ditched that eventually as too much effort without a proper crew. Instead of selling your F3, why not have two cameras?! (great for interviews too!) Get yourself an a6500 or a secondhand a7S mk1 on the cheap, for your glidecam to match with the F3

Put the camera, & everything else (external battery, audio pre amp, etc), as far back on your shoulder as you can.

KineMINI 4K "battle tested" (read: refurbished) were going for $3K last year? I'd undoubtedly go for that in your situation if you can't afford a Kinefinity Terra, & don't care about other stuff such as size. Otherwise you could get a secondhand Sony FS700 (as you're not counting the cost of extra stuff.... such as an external recorder to tap into the FS700 raw). Other options I'd consider is Sony PMW-F3, BMD Micro Cinema Camera, and maaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe the URSA Mini 4K. Plus of course the GH5, but wait for it to be selling first for a month or two. What do you mean "lacking in resolution"? Or is 1080 not enough is what you mean? That is kinda my plan. Get the FS5 once they show up cheap secondhand. I kinda want the 10bit 4K internal of the FS7 however..... but the variable ND and small compact size of the FS5 is tempting. Or a Kinefinity Terra if they show up "battle tested" in the future. Would you mind please linking to your reduser post on the F35? :-)

Kisaha, audio preferences can be very subjective. And circumstances vary from shoot to shoot also which one is "better". So I don't say it is so clear cut which of the Audio Technica or Audix is "better". I agree Curtis Judd is not an expert specialist soundie (but there are very few of those on YouTube! Matt Price is the only independent one on YT who regularly updates), he is just a videographer generalist, but he is the best regular one of those on YouTube for audio info.

Audio-Technica AT4053b is a solid choice too. Is the one that Curtis Judd chose.

TURN OFF the air conditioning! ME64 is more a videographer's microphone, while an Audix / AT / Oktova (which are all popular options) are entry level indie ones.

That bulk is why I have gone from one extreme (bulked up F3 even more than in my profile pic here!) to the other extreme... and using my F3 in the most stripped down and minimal manner that I can!

Yes it is a damn pity there are no real options when it comes to super affordable 5" (or even 4") monitors with at least semi ish decent specs (like say the Feelworld FW760 has). That Neway is kinda tempting, anyone here using it and can report back about it?

HitFilm and/or Vegas Pro are my top votes for editing if you're starting out. (or Premiere Pro if you'll likely be working with/for others professionally in the future, as it is a near universal program) As for camera, just stay with your Panasonic GX1 and Nikon F mount lenses, that is an absolutely fantastic starting point for a beginner!! Yes, there are better options, many of them very tempting indeed, and very attractively priced. But this is a never ending circle that can suck you down forever.... First you consider the G7, it is so cheap secondhand it is almost free! No brainer decision. Let's buy it. But.... the G80 isn't really "that much" more is it in cost to buy? And it has IBIS! However... now we're nearly halfway in price to a GH5, and that is omgmyballz amazing!!! Should get that instead. But however now we're nearly halfway in price to buying a Kinefinity Terra 5K!!!! OMGAMAZINGZWTF!!!! Whoops, that is my phone ringing, let me answer that.... oh hello Mr Bank Manager, what are you calling about, my overdraft? Oops. Thus I say stick with you GX1 and Nikon lenses you have for now. If you simply ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT resist the itch to spend money on gear (I know I know, I've been there, I understand!!), then instead spend it on filling in the gaps in your lens collection (maybe you need a UWA? Or a portrait lens? This too can go on forever....). As at least lenses can last you for decades. Or get a few quality audio pieces (microphones can also easily last you over a decade! I just purchased a newly two thousand dollar microphone myself... :-o ). Or lighting gear! Again, this should last you longer than a camera body will. And quality lighting used effectively will go much further towards making your film look amazing than a new camera will! Then once you've progressed and learned more, maybe in 2018 give in to buying a new camera? By that point you'll be able to pick up a G80 for today's G7 prices, or less!

No way, not going to happen! We'll probably get *ONE* of those specs you mentioned in the a7S mk3. If we're very lucky we'll get *TWO* of those specs. If we're very very *very* lucky then we could get as many as *THREE* of what you mentioned. But to get *all* of that?? Sorry, you need to wait for the a7S mk10 to get that! haha Remember Panasonic had 10bit (though external) with the GH4 years ago, and ***still*** no other camera manufacturer has caught up (for whatever reasons, political/costs/marketing/mismanagement/blindness/whatever) in offering this in one of their consumer stills cameras. When others are still behind the GH4, I wouldn't feel optimistic about them leaping ahead of the GH5 any time soon.

This, a thousand times this, I'd be 110% focused on getting out of debt if I was you. Rest of all this nonsense we discuss on this forum matters relatively little compared to that!

Wow! That is a lot of interesting improvements. But I agree with sanveer, having one of these with a back up internal recording with the microphone would be nice.
