  1. I’m curious - how does using a follow focus with this lens increase the short focus throw?
  2. I saw no mention of Sigma manufacturing lenses exclusively for L mount anywhere either. But I did hear them say they were going to charge $5,000 so as not to undercut Leica. ?
  3. my exposures are accurate - in fact, since working this way, my clips have never been so consistently well exposed.
  4. Oops, sry, I thought this was the Panasonic thread. ? Agree with the poster above - utility trumps specs anyday. If the camera, lenses, accessories, codecs and whatnot are a PITA, I’m not gonna use them. Some of my ideas about what’s useful have evolved over time though and I no longer consider a fully articulating screen to be a must. If it is, it looks like Canon’s the only FF mirrorless to have one atm - but at the expense of no IBIS and the crop. ? Another factor I used to think was of utmost importance was ergonomics - button layout, an adequate grip and so forth - but now that I find myself shooting more and more on a gimbal, size, weight and how well the camera balances with lenses on a small gimbal have become more important to my way of working.
  5. If you looked, you’d have seen I corrected that. What’s the hurry?
  6. They already do. Leica lenses for mft have a hefty premium. The 42.5mm for example listed for $1,600 when released, while the Panasonic f/1.7 version was only $400.00. I see no reason why Leica’s lenses won’t still sell for $5,000 while Panasonic’s will fetch similar prices to what other mfrs ask for.
  7. DPReview GFX 50R Preview shot on the X-T3.
  8. Looks like APS-C has gotten the short end of the stick in the mirrorless wars.
  9. That question isn’t really so far-fetched as some may think. I think I’ve turned into an 8K believer thanks to Mark Toia.
  10. The 70/30% photo/video part concerns me too. I imagined L Junior would be a GH5 on steroids - a mean video machine. Will we ever see FF mirrorless with internal ND filters? Will other mfrs ever have sensible menu interfaces like BMD or Hasselblad?

What the hell? Panasonic just announced the world’s first constant aperture 10-25mm f/1.7 MFT lens - a Leica DG Vario Summilux. That is insane!
  12. With S-Log2, I just meter for brightest important highlight detail - whether it’s a shirt or the face - and the skin tone line on the vectorscope is usually spot-on.
  13. Sony is no more or less expensive than any other brand. $1,500 - $2,500 is now the norm for flagship mirrorless bodies, whether MFT, APS-C or FF. The a7 III runs $2,000. Since most on this website appear to favor using vintage glass or third party lenses with reasonably priced adapters, the cost of lenses is grossly exaggerated. Tamron already makes a phenomenal 28-70, Sony’s 85mm is dirt cheap, the soon to be released 24mm is sharper, lighter and less expensive than the competition; and since the OP doesn’t mind manual focusing, the very modestly priced Voigtlanders are unsurpassed. Sigma’s ART lenses will all soon be available in E mount. There are also countless E mount cinema lenses, from the highly praised Fuji MK zooms (super35) to the ridiculously inexpensive Rokinons. A kit of 3 Rokinon T 1.5 primes sells for just $1,200 - brand new!
  14. @Mark Romero 2 Re: The help guide, there's also this: When using S-Log2 gamma, the noise becomes more noticeable compared to when using other gammas. If the noise still is significant even after processing pictures, it may be improved by shooting with a brighter setting. However, the dynamic range becomes narrower accordingly when you shoot with a brighter setting. We recommend checking the picture in advance by test shooting when using S-log2. There are no such instructions in the a7 III help guide. Shooting S-Log2 at whatever ISO, 800 and above, custom white balance seems just fine, and exposure is pretty straightforward just using zebras set at 100+. I don't use view assist or waveform monitors when shooting S-Log2 and I haven't been applying any special LUTs to the footage (except for the Leeming LUT Quickies in the screen grabs I shared to add a bit of drama). I'm really liking the highlight roll-off when compared to the Cine2 profile I had been using, and skin tones look okay to my old eyes. In sum, I kind of enjoy shooting S-Log2 and will probably stick with it for the time being.
