The Sigma is great, without question - but I wasnt as impressed as I thought I would be. Could you spot the places in my Bahamas edit where the Sigma was used and where the cheapish Panasonic 20mm? Well, I couldnt.

I think GX80 has come a far way color wise. To me first Lumix with pleasing color ooc.
Here is a nice example of color and camerawork with this little gem. Other than the fragile monitor it
has a beautiful solid feel. I don´t know, maybe someone can chim in and tell me, if stabilization
is better with new firmware. Beautiful little cam so far. Kinda torn if I gonna keep it though because
to me the real weakness is the monitor, kinda fragile and pretty small, evf is bad but for filming i´m using
monitor anyway. Here some work I must say showing the GX mojo pretty well. Not my work though:)

I like the Pana much more. Better focus ring, even when the Oly is in manual mode and the color has something special. Really looking forward to my next project with that lens.

As im considering getting rid of my NX Gear Ive put it in boxes and am trying to act like I don't have it for a week or two.... we are separated not divorced...
Finally got a ND Filter for my FD len only things I can get on my Pocket atm ATM
Shot this stuff RAW trying to figure out what is the best exposure on the histy
I suppose on  RAW you want a flat valley not peaks to the left or right?
Its all hand held with some serious (bad) stabilization all done in Resolve
Im learning that just just because I have all that dynamic range perhaps I shouldn't keep the Whitest  whites and the blackest black alot of grades have milky blacks....
    All Canon FD 24mm 2.8 + $13 NDfilter

Well, by my count that's 2 Panasonic primes but I see what you mean  Nice range you have now! Looking forward to seeing videos from especially the 25mm and 12mm!.

Sorry I haven't had the time to do any test for you guys. I've been away for work the past 2 weeks.
@jase I did a quick test with the touch AF in manual mode (that's what you meant right?) and it hunts a lot. Manual focus is better but when I'm focussing on something close and then something 1.5 m away it's easy to hit focus just to turn the focus ring to much and get out of focus again. I guess that's what you're used to with photo lenses anyway. I find it somewhat easier to focus with the 12 as it's bigger, the 15mm is so tiny. Note that I performed the tests at f/1.4. Did that make any sense to you?
One thing I would like to mention is that I think 12mm is a much more difficult focal length than 15mm, but I guess that also depends on what you're gonna do with it. I needed a wide and bright lens for shoothing indoors so I bought this at 20% off at black friday.
@jonpais congrats on new lens. I'm pretty sure you're gonna love it!
This video is shot with the PL 15mm until 3.48 and then the PL 12mm for the rest of it. Don't remember the aperture but I think it was around 2.0. It's shot on a GH3 in 1080 50p so not sure how helpful it is but at least you can see that the two lenses match up pretty good. They are color corrected and graded btw. The PL12 has a slightly cooler signature and along with the PL42,5 it has the best color and rendering of the Panasonic lenses I have used, with the 15mm coming in not far behind.
Unfortunately that's all I have for now but I'll see if I can make a quick comparison with the 12-35mm next week.

I feel like f/2.8 (on FF) is the sweet spot for weight / size / performance when it comes to video. So f/2 on APS-C and f/1.4 on m4/3. Also typically easy to balance on a gimbal because rather compact lenses. I'm all about fast lenses (in photography all I used was f/1.4) but for video I think the usability decrease can be big.
I'm really contemplating lately. Theoretically the easy way is just to get a set of Zeiss / Canon / Nikon glass and be done. I think I could do just with 40 (barely anyone makes those so probably a 35 + 50) and 85mm (this one preferably macro). Maybe a 24mm for gimbal and landscapes on top. If you get them in Nikon mount, you're set for life because I don't think we will ever see a system with a bigger flange distance come out. I have 35mm 1.4 & 85mm 1.4 from Samyang but obviously that's a biatch to focus with open aperture and I struggle to balance the big 35mm lens on my mirrorless body.
On the other hand going native is also becoming really rewarding with crazy auto focus performance (inc. touch screen for focus), face-tracking, hybrid image stabilization and what not.

Great video Jase! Happy to hear you like the 15mm. I always though it would be a great option for what you do. If I could just choose one lens for a trip it would be the 15mm hands down. Didn't think you would get the Panny since you got the Oly 17mm though. How to they compare?

Yes, I think so. Having AF is very convenient if you are on the run or simply cant really see the peaking on the screen / evf. Now with the Summilux 15, it seems i got the perfect allrounder - good fov, fast AF and a decent focus ring - all in a small package!

Here is my first 4K-based adventure with the GX80. I am suprised I didnt really miss the slow-mo at all. Although rendering takes ages on my Macbook Pro 2011 (3min video took 3:45h for rendering!), editing with proxy files works without any hickup. I am amazed by the quality and I think I will continue using 4K from now on. Lenses used: Sigma 18-35, but mostly the Panasonic 20mm. I already sold the Speedbooster XL and the Sigma, it is just too huge and even with the 4K crop one sees the vignette when the stabilization kicks in.

Currently going through a hell of a time grading holiday footage. Be my guest taking a shot at a very easy scene to grade, and one that is giving me nightmares. Shot on the Sony A7S II with SLOG 2.

Wow... you have a lens home run game going on or what? Although I am very in love with my Summilux 15 currently, the Summilux 12 urges a desire in me...

Some are more impartial than others, put it that way.
When you have personal relations with a nice man or nice woman from a marketing company or a camera company, you're not going to risk burning that bridge for the sake of a fully honest review which focuses on a number of negatives. You're just not.
Yes I myself have felt the pressure as well. I resisted and continue to do so.
If I cared about my relationship with people in the camera sales industry above the one I have with my own readers and followers, do you think I'd be blasting CInema5D on Twitter? I certainly wouldn't. For me though the blog is more important and shouldn't be 'sold' to the PR world.
    It has indeed.
Well the latter part is fine by me. We can have different opinions based on experience and figure out which opinion suits our own experiences and how we intend to use the cameras we buy.
    It doesn't.
Regardless, whether you call somebody out or not is a personal freedom.
Especially when it comes to your own blog and some flawed test that claims the rather wonderful GH5 is unusable.
The hype machine is very persuasive... These types of articles get the most attention.
The truth is there is no silver bullet, you cannot buy your way to filmmaking greatness with camera purchases.
But it helps to put your $1000, $2000 or $3000 on the right horse!!

And dont forget the 5D III RAW is 14bit, as I like to shoot in some crazy lighting scenarios. I get banding with every other camera I ever owned other then a 5DIII. The colors are just great, bright red key light, no problem. (I shot something similar with the A7S II, and the colors were so ugly that I had to use a "black and white" grade. )

Maybe because the masses who buy this camera will film everything - and I mean everything - at 4K60p for the first six months until the novelty wears off and the views die down. They will not care for bit rates or efficient codecs. Those who buy the GH5 as a production workhorse are in the tiniest of minorities and will likely only use its showcase feature very sparingly.
Just as the YouTube viewing market was swamped with rats scurrying about at 4am in deserted cities when the a7s first came out, it will shortly be swamped with slow motion skateboard gimbal videos from the end of this month onwards. None of them will care for h.265, let alone Anna Morphic or whatever her name is.
Panasonic need to make money and they do that via the masses and not the serious filmmakers, just as every company does that sells prosumer gear.
