Truthfully, I was just trying to crack a joke..

I thought so, too. Apparently @jcs' ego couldn't help itself..

    Game of Egos

I think saying things like "there is no me" and "It's not our world" and "we don't matter" is a way of skirting responsibility and saying "hey we're all going to die and our lives are meaningless." People have used this kind of thought for justification of a lot of terrible and destructive things. Of course there is a "you." Just because "you" can't understand consciousness doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I think WE are the ones that put meaning in to our own lives and we have to take responsibility for it. Carl Sagan summed it up best: "We humans are one among millions of separate species who live in a world burgeoning, overflowing with life. And yet, most species that ever were are no more. After flourishing for one hundred fifty million years, the dinosaurs became extinct. Every last one. No species is guaranteed its tenure on this planet. And humans, the first beings to devise the means for their own destruction, have been here for only several million years. We are rare and precious because we are alive, because we can think. We are privileged to influence and perhaps control our future. We have an obligation to fight for life on Earth — not just for ourselves but for all those, humans and others, who came before us and to whom we are beholden, and for all those who, if we are wise enough, will come after. There is no cause more urgent than to survive to eliminate on a global basis the growing threats of nuclear war, environmental catastrophe, economic collapse and mass starvation. These problems were created by humans and can only be solved by humans. No social convention, no political system, no economic hypothesis, no religious dogma is more important. The hard truth seems to be this: We live in a vast and awesome universe in which, daily, suns are made and worlds destroyed, where humanity clings to an obscure clod of rock. The significance of our lives and our fragile realm derives from our own wisdom and courage. We are the custodians of life’s meaning. We would prefer it to be otherwise, of course, but there is no compelling evidence for a cosmic Parent who will care for us and save us from ourselves. It is up to us." @jcs Are you saying ego's are always a bad or negative thing? I'm just trying to understand your position, thanks. Meh, a lot of words were said, but not a whole lot of substance. A good bit of woo woo in there. It's like Deepak Chopra all over again or that book "The Secret." Put positive thoughts "out in to the universe" (whatever that means) and you'll get rewarded for them. However, there is absolutely no evidence of this. How self-centered does one have to be to believe that the universe even cares about our puny lives? It's like believing in astrology. How egocentric does one have to be to believe that the movements and relative positions of celestial bodies has any influence on our lives on earth? I'll leave it to Sagan, again: "The universe seems neither benign nor hostile, merely indifferent."
  4. I second (or third or fourth) the 16-50 S lens recommendation. I just picked one up in excellent condition used from keh and MAN this lens rules in all of the ways mentioned in this thread. I still have the 12mm f2 and 85mm f1.4 Rokinons for ultra-wide and portraits/extra reach, respectively. But I can't see myself using the 30mm pancake anymore. I do still see myself using the 45mm 1.8 but only on certain occasions. I have some FDs that I had been using, too, but I probably wouldn't use them except for certain looks. For traveling and mostly everything else, the 16-50S will be glued to my NX1. I've actually been considering grabbing an NX500 to use the 30mm pancake with as a casual shooter and B cam. I used to love that combo, and got some of my favorite shots from that combo but I sold the NX500 to upgrade to the NX1. Now that I have some money saved and can afford to do it I think I'll grab myself an NX500 again.
  5. Expect* not except. See, even AI make mistakes. Wait, did I just reply to my own reply to point out my own spelling error? Am I becoming self-aware?
  6. That's exactly the answer I'd except from a bot/AI. As far as my LinkedIn, I don't have one. So, therefore, I must be a bot.
  7. I'm sorry, I'm having trouble understanding your thoughts and sentences. Also, I'm not sure you're fully understanding mine.
  8. You literally just said it. How can you be racist against a set of ideas or followers of a set of ideas? Since you've edited your original reply: Did you mean "I don't know what constitutes a race and don't really care"? Shouldn't you care? Claiming someone is a racist is no small claim and shouldn't be taken lightly. Therefore you should probably know the definition of something you're accusing someone of being. edit: Definition of "race" - a category of humankind that shares certain distinctive physical traits. Refers to a person's physical characteristics, such as bone structure and skin, hair, or eye color So if you're claiming that all Muslims share the same physical characteristics (such as skin color) then you are, in fact, a racist.
  9. Discussing ideas has no place on this forum? A lot of things get people angry. Should we not discuss camera brands because there are loyalists who might get angry at any criticism of their favorite brand?
  10. I don't follow. What/where in my response would give you the idea that I've had a bad day or am looking to argue or that I need to "feel better"? Seems a touch condescending. I've actually had a great day, in fact, and am just looking to have some civil discourse (which I think is lacking in our society)! But if you'd rather not defend your posItions and opinions that's up to you. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  11. Interesting. How do we know you're not AI/a bot?
  12. For some men being in a "loving relationship with a woman" means covering them in bag and not letting them leave the house without a male guardian. Just because you have a definition of love doesn't mean everyone else uses and adheres to that same definition. Some men show their "love" of women by beating them. I was never comfortable with the whole John Lennon "All you need is love" bullocks. First off because he was a hypocrite, a horrible human being, and a woman abuser. Also because it's woo woo. All you need is love? People have different definitions of love. What you really need is proper education and the empowerment of women. What is "female energy?" Jihadists become radicalized because of ideas and idealogies. coughAmericanRevolutioncough People who are willing to kill others and die, themselves, in the process because you don't believe what they believe is most certainly not "bait." Do you know what would happen if you acted like Gandhi in the face of jihadists? You would be killed. "False flag events" "Deep state" "Shadow Government" Give me a break. Our government is so slow, inefficient, and inept. How could it possibly pull off the biggest conspiracy EVER? Hanlon's razor (Never ascribe to malice, that which can be explained by stupidity; Don't ascribe to malice what can be plainly explained by incompetence.) Can you please provide proof of these alleged things? Also, do you think 9/11 was a hoax? In another topic you preach about how alcohol, sugar, tobacco, and caffeine are toxic to the mind and body yet you've advocated in the past for taking psychoactive drugs. I know many productive people who ingest alcohol, sugar, tobacco, and caffeine regularly. Millions of people now know what's going on because we have the internet? More like small groups of people can now gather on the internet and share their stupid ideas in an echo chamber and think they know what's really going in an attempt to excuse any responsibility for themselves.
  13. To work with the latest iOS and android?
  14. Samsung NX1 (w/ rode video micro) for photos and video. I try to take it everywhere I go. I just bought a great condition used 16-50 S lens, too. Can't wait to shoot with it! iPhone for quick posting on social media. Canon F1 and sometimes Olympus OM1 to satisfy my film shooting.
  15. @Ed_David I don't understand your post, or what point you're intending to get across. What does the color of one's skin have to do with anything? When you identify and group people by the color of their skin that is called racism. Why can't everyone be treated as individuals? Identity politics is a zero-sum game. Don't play it. Our president isn't a white nationalist, he's a buffoon. Quit drinking the regressive kool-aid and stop the virtue signaling.
  16. Great news! Any word on FCPX? Can you edit H.265 natively?
  17. At first I thought it was just out of sync, then I realized I'm pretty sure it's ADR.
  18. Pray Tell... So because there are proposed theories of changing the geometry of space and that it could theoretically be possible, you conclude that UFOs exist and have existed for quite some time? Seems pretty far-reaching to me. Something something reverse causality. Oh and look! More NLP pseudoscience... Remember, kids, keep an open mind but not so open your brains fall out.
  19. Including the slavery, genocide, sexism, misogyny, condemning of homosexuality, and human sacrifice?
  20. I primarily use Canon FDs with my NX1 and I love the results. They're much better to shoot video with than the NX 30mm and 45mm (which have fly-by-wire focusing) even though the NX lenses are designed specifically for APS-C (Super 35). I've got the FDn 24mm f2, 28mm f2.8, 35mm f2, and 50mm f1.4 that I also use with my Canon F1 35mm film camera. It works out pretty nice! For super-wide angle I've got the Rokinon 12mm f2. A superb lens! For audio I've been using the Rode VideoMicro. It's not stereo but it does the job, just keep an eye on your audio levels and make sure you're getting the strongest signal without clipping. It uses power from the camera and doesn't require a battery, which is pretty nice.
  21. A video I made to a song I recorded with some friends of mine. 120fps, Rokinon 85mm 1.4, Gamma DR (Andrew's settings) with the Log LUT, FilmConvert using Sony Slog profile. Video of a recent trip to Scotland and Iceland. Rokinon 12mm F2, Canon FD 24mm F2 and 50mm 1.4. FilmConvert NX1 profile. Music is something I recorded at home.
  22. I think the commenter was asking if the GH5 records sound while shooting in high frame rates because apparently the GH4 does not. What's wrong with that?
  23. That was one of the greatest videos on YouTube I may have ever seen. Was that entire video satire? It's so hard to tell these days!!
